The theory of transport phenomena in multicomponent electrolyte solutions is presented here through the integration of continuum mechanics, electromagnetism, and nonequilibrium thermodynamics. The governing equations of irreversible thermodynamics, including balance laws, Maxwell's equations, internal entropy production, and linear laws relating the thermodynamic forces and fluxes, are derived. Green–Kubo relations for the transport coefficients connecting electrochemical potential gradients and diffusive fluxes are obtained in terms of the flux–flux time correlations. The relationship between the derived transport coefficients and those of the Stefan–Maxwell and infinitely dilute frameworks are presented, and the connection between the transport matrix and experimentally measurable quantities is described. To exemplify the application of the derived Green–Kubo relations in molecular simulations, the matrix of transport coefficients for lithium and chloride ions in dimethyl sulfoxide is computed using classical molecular dynamics and compared with experimental measurements. 相似文献

Although the selective excitatory amino acid transporter subtype 1 (EAAT1) inhibitor UCPH‐101 has become a standard pharmacological tool compound for in vitro and ex vivo studies in the EAAT research field, its inability to penetrate the blood–brain barrier makes it unsuitable for in vivo studies. In the present study, per os (p.o.) administration (40 mg kg?1) of the closely related analogue UCPH‐102 in rats yielded respective plasma and brain concentrations of 10.5 and 6.67 μm after 1 h. Three analogue series were designed and synthesized to improve the bioavailability profile of UCPH‐102, but none displayed substantially improved properties in this respect. In vitro profiling of UCPH‐102 (10 μm ) at 51 central nervous system targets in radioligand binding assays strongly suggests that the compound is completely selective for EAAT1. Finally, in a rodent locomotor model, p.o. administration of UCPH‐102 (20 mg kg?1) did not induce acute effects or any visible changes in behavior. 相似文献

Many nutrients are lost from soil to water viatile drains. However, there are very few reliable studies of such phosphorus(P)losses under Swedish agriculture practices, especially in connection tofertiliser and slurry applications and related to nutrient balances. Tile drainlosses were measured from nine experimental plots in south-west Sweden; fourplots were measured for 7 years and five plots for 2–3 years. Cereals,mainly spring barley (Hordeum vulgare, L.) and oats(Avena sativa, L.), were grown in six plots, while oneplotwas cultivated with grass, timothy (Phleum pratense L.)andmeadow fescue (Festuca pratensis, L.), one with lucerne(Medicago sativa, L.) and meadow fescue (F.pratensis, L.), and the last one was a set-aside withgrass (Lolium perenne, L. and Trifoliumrepens, L.) that was neither fertilised nor used for crop removal.Attention was paid to the forms in which P was transported to water since thishas important ecological implications. Average losses of particulate P (PP)fromthe set-aside land was significantly lower than from the cerealproduction, but the average losses of soluble reactive P (SRP) and dissolvednonreactive P (DUP) were the same. Average loss of PP from the grass ley during 3years (0.09 kg per ha–1 y–1) wassignificantly less than the losses from cereal production. Total P loss of 0.3kg per ha–1 y–1 was equal to the averagelossfrom the Swedish monitoring network of observation fields. Compared to theaverage nitrate-nitrogen (NO3-N) leaching, which was 7 kg perha–1 y–1 from cereals, the NO3-Nleaching was very low from the plots with lucerne-grass and set-aside.After applying and directly ploughing in 80 kg ha–1 ofsuperphosphate for cereal production in November 1998, 0.6–1.8 kgSRP ha–1 y–1 was lost through the drain tiles.Surface application of cattle slurry in spring 1999 to the grass ley alsoresulted in a very pronounced increased base level of SRP. The rheological properties of nonaqueous silicon nitride powder suspensions have been investigated using steady shear and viscoelastic measurements. The polymeric dispersant, Hypermer KD-3, adsorbed strongly on the powder surfaces, and colloidally stable, fluid suspensions up to a volume fraction of φ= 0.50 could be prepared. The concentrated suspensions all displayed a shear thinning behavior which could be modeled using the high shear form of the Cross equation. The viscoelastic response at high concentrations was dominated by particle interactions, probably due to interpenetration of the adsorbed polymer layers, and a thickness of the adsorbed Hypermer KD-3 layer, Δ∼10 nm, was estimated. The volume fraction dependences of the high shear viscosity of three different silicon nitride powders were compared and the differences, analyzed by using a modified Krieger-Dougherty model, were related to effective volume effects and the physical characteristics of the powders. The significantly lower maximum volume fraction, φm = 0.47, of the SN E-10 powder was referred to the narrow particle size distribution and the possibility of an unfavorable particle morphology. 相似文献

The Swedish Telecommunications Administration (STA) has put to gether a set of requirement specifications for general purpose Visual Display Units (VDUs), and in particular for VDUs to be used in telephone directory services and similar computer supported customer services. For VDUs based on Cathode Ray Tube technology, a rationale is presented for ergonomic requirements such as dark characters on a light background, a minimum refresh rate of 70 Hz, limits for acceptable levels of electric and magnetic field strengths, and full tilt, swivel and height adjustability of the VDU. Standardized measurement methods for e.g. legibility and resolution are needed in further developing the ergonomic procure ment process. 相似文献

The comparison of conventional surface metrology and area-scale fractal parameters to differentiate the surface topography of pharmaceutical excipient compacts and preliminary investigation of scale-based correlations with excipient properties were performed. The determination and selection of the most appropriate surface topography parameters is important in optimizing the design and quality of industrial processes and products. The surfaces of three types of excipient compacts (microcrystalline cellulose (MCC), spray dried lactose (SDL), and dibasic calcium phosphate dihydrate (DCPD)) were characterized with a non-contact optical surface profilometer. A statistical F-test matrix was used to rank and quantify the ability of conventional surface texture parameters: Sa, Sq, St, Ssk, Sku, and the fractal parameters: relative area, Asfc (complexity) and SRC (smooth–rough crossover), to differentiate the surfaces of the compacts. Based on this statistical analysis and area-scale plots generated from profilometer data, it was found that most of the conventional parameters were suitable for distinguishing the surfaces. The F-test applied to the relative areas as a function of scale also indicated the ranges of scales over which the differentiation was possible. MCC–SDL and DCPD–SDL material pairs were able to be differentiated between scales of 10 and 10,000 μm2, however, MCC–DCPD pairs were only differentiable between 300 and 2000 μm2. A new method was established for illustrating the scale-based correlations, using the product of the regression coefficient and the normalized slope. The correlations between the fractal parameters and the properties of the excipients, including brittle fracture and indentation hardness, gave plausible explanations for the similarities between certain excipients, supporting a phenomenological understanding of the behavior of excipient compacts and their surfaces. 相似文献

Farnesyl diphosphate, the substrate for squalene synthase, accumulates in the presence of zaragozic acid A, a squalene synthase inhibitor. A possible metabolic fate for farnesyl diphosphate is its conversion to farnesol, then to farnesoic acid, and finally to farnesol-derived dicarboxylic acids (FDDCAs) which would then be excreted in the urine. Seven dicarboxylic acids were isolated by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) from urine of either rats or dogs treated with zaragozic acid A or rats fed farnesol. Their structures were determined by nuclear magnetic resonance analysis. Two 12-carbon, four 10-carbon, and one 7-carbon FDDCA were identified. The profile of urinary dicarboxylic acids from rats fed farnesol was virtually identical to that produced by treating with zaragozic acid A, establishing that these dicarboxylic acids are farnesol-derived. By feeding [1-14C]farnesol and comparing the mass of the dicarboxylic acids produced with the ultraviolet absorption of the HPLC peaks, a method to quantitate the ultraviolet-absorbing FDDCAs was devised. When rats were treated with zaragozic acid A, large amounts of FDDCAs were excreted in the urine. The high level of FDDCAs that were found suggests that their synthesis is the major metabolic fate for carbon diverted from cholesterol synthesis by a squalene synthase inhibitor. A metabolic pathway is proposed to explain the production of each of these FDDCAs. 相似文献
