Automatic image analysis and morphology of fibre reinforced concrete   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Automatic image analysis is an efficient tool to quantify the morphology of materials. Moreover, it can aid to understand their mechanical behaviour. Several applications of automatic methods are presented to investigate concrete reinforced by ribbon shaped amorphous cast iron fibres. Introducing ribbons into the plain matrix entrapped air voids. This affected the workability and, later on, the compressive strength of the fibre reinforced concrete (FRC). Both were improved by additions of superplasticizer in order to keep the water to cement ratio constant. The influence of the superplasticizer and fibre contents on the compactness of the FRC was characterized by the dimensional and the spatial distributions of the air voids. The orientations of fibres and microcracks were quantified by Fourier image transforms. Due to the casting procedure of the FRC, the fibres were located in “horizontal layers”, perpendicular to the casting axis. Whatever the direction of compression with respect to the layers of fibres, the microcrack network was getting more and more oriented in the direction of compression as stresses increased. The analysis of fibre and microcrack orientations suggests that, under uniaxial compression, the inelastic strain domain should be characterized by an anisotropic biaxial damage model, whose principal axes are the orthogonal and parallel directions to the layers of fibres.  相似文献

The present work involves a systematic review of the chemical composition and biological effects of essential oils from the Annonaceae species collected in Brazil from 2011 to 2021. Annonaceae is one of the most important botanical families in Brazil, as some species have economic value in the market as local and international fruit. In addition, the species have useful applications in several areas—for instance, as raw materials for use in cosmetics and perfumery and as medicinal plants. In folk medicine, species such as Annona glabra L. and Xylopia sericea A. St.-Hil. are used to treat diseases such as rheumatism and malaria. The species of Annonaceae are an important source of essential oils and are rich in compounds belonging to the classes of mono and sesquiterpenes; of these compounds, α-pinene, β-pinene, limonene, (E)-caryophyllene, bicyclogermacrene, caryophyllene oxide, germacrene D, spathulenol, and β-elemene are the most abundant. The antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antileishmania, antioxidant, antiproliferative, cytotoxic, larvicidal, trypanocidal, and antimalarial activities of essential oils from the Annonaceae species in Brazil have been described in previous research, with the most studies on this topic being related to their antiproliferative or cytotoxic activities. In some studies, it was observed that the biological activity reported for these essential oils was superior to that of drugs available on the market, as is the case of the essential oil of the species Guatteria punctata (Aubl.) R. A. Howard., which showed a trypanocidal effect that was 34 times stronger than that of the reference drug benznidazol.  相似文献

Double-walled carbon nanotubes (DWNTs) prepared by catalytic chemical vapour deposition were functionalized in such a way that they were optimally designed as a nano-vector for the delivery of small interfering RNA (siRNA), which is of great interest for biomedical research and drug development. DWNTs were initially oxidized and coated with a polypeptide (Poly(Lys:Phe)), which was then conjugated to thiol-modified siRNA using a heterobifunctional cross-linker. The obtained oxDWNT-siRNA was characterized by Raman spectroscopy inside and outside a biological environment (mammalian cells). Uptake of the custom-designed nanotubes was not associated with detectable biochemical perturbations in cultured cells, but transfection of cells with DWNTs loaded with siRNA targeting the green fluorescent protein (GFP) gene, serving as a model system, as well as with therapeutic siRNA targeting the survivin gene, led to a significant gene silencing effect, and in the latter case a resulting apoptotic effect in cancer cells.  相似文献

We use electric force microscopy (EFM) to study the response of supported few-layer hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) to an electric field applied by the EFM tip. Our results show an anomalous behavior in the dielectric response of h-BN atop Si oxide for different bias polarities: for a positive bias applied to the tip, h-BN layers respond with a larger dielectric constant than the dielectric constant of the substrate, while for a negative bias, the h-BN dielectric constant appears to be smaller. Based on ab initio calculations, we propose that this behavior is due to a water layer confined between the Si oxide substrate and h-BN layers. This hypothesis was experimentally confirmed by sample annealing and also by a comparative analysis with h-BN on a non-polar substrate.  相似文献

In this paper we present a new application for Carrera’s unified Formulation (CUF) to analyse functionally graded plates.In this paper the authors present explicit governing equations of a sinusoidal shear deformation theory for functionally graded plates. It addresses the bending and free vibration analysis and accounts for through-the-thickness deformations.The equations of motion are interpolated by collocation with radial basis functions. The idea of contact electrification aiming the development of nano-scale data storage devices has been explored through a careful investigation of charge injection on insulating films (SiO2 and PMMA) via scanning probe microscopy techniques. A complete route for data storage, showing simple and effective ways to write (inject the charge with an atomic force microscopy (AFM) tip), to read (detect the charge with electric force microscopy), to store (keep sample charge by changing ambient and surface conditions) and to erase the information (make the discharge process faster) is proposed and discussed. A detailed study of the influence of several parameters like AFM mode, bias voltage, relative humidity and surface hydrophobicity is also presented to optimize both charge injection and discharge processes. Results show that monitoring parameters such as ambient relative humidity and surface hydrophobic/hydrophilic character enable the control of pattern size, lateral dispersion, and storage time. The charge polarity is also dependent on the surface hydrophobicity and either positive or negative charges can become more appropriate for storage depending on the surface hydrophobic/hydrophilic character.  相似文献

Organic–inorganic hybrid nanocomposites were prepared via in situ sol–gel process. The organic phase is a biodegradable polymer, poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL), while the tetrabutyl titanate (TBT, Ti(OBu)4) was used as inorganic precursor. Synthesis parameters like acidity medium and precursor amount were investigated in order to assess their influence on hybrid properties. The obtained nanocomposites were characterised by thermal analysis, spectroscopic techniques, transmission electronic microscopy (TEM) and X-ray diffraction to gather information on the structure of the nanocomposites. Mechanical properties and biodegradability were also evaluated. A reaction mechanism based on Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and NMR results was proposed using methyl acetate as model compound. TEM micrographs of the nanocomposites show a fine good nanoparticles dispersion. Acidic conditions and 10 wt% of precursor lead to a nanocomposite with higher mechanical properties and biodegradability than PCL.  相似文献

This work presents a numerical study of the tri-dimensional convection-diffusion equation by the control-volume-based on finite-element method using quadratic hexahedral elements. Considering that the equation governing this problem in its main variable may represent several properties, including temperature, turbulent kinetic energy, viscous dissipation rate of the turbulent kinetic energy, specific dissipation rate of the turbulent kinetic energy, or even the concentration of a contaminant in a given medium, among others, the wide applicability of this problem is thus evidenced. Three cases of temperature distributions will be studied specifically in this work, in addition to one case of pollutant dispersion upon analysis of the concentration of a contaminant in a fixed flow point. Some comparisons will be carried out against works found in the open literature, while others will be done according to each phenomenon characteristics.  相似文献

Mineral extraction and processing industries have been cited as sources of environmental contamination and pollution. The inclusion of wastes into productive cycles represents an alternative form of restoration, which is interesting from both environmental and economic standpoints. In this work, the development of ceramic tile formulations containing kaolin processing and granite sawing wastes was investigated using the statistical design of mixture experiments methodology. Ten formulations using the raw materials, red clay, kaolin processing and granite sawing wastes, were selected and used in the mixture design. Test specimens were fired and characterized to determine their water absorption, linear firing shrinkage and modulus of rupture. Regression models were calculated, correlating the properties with the composition. The significance and validity of the models were confirmed by statistical analysis and verification experiments. The regression models were used to optimize the waste content in ceramic compositions. The results showed that formulations containing up to 62% of waste could be used in the production of ceramic tiles.  相似文献
