In order to evaluate the temporal occurrence of Cryptosporidium oocysts in Ruditapes philippinarum clams bred along the northeastern Italian Adriatic coast and molecularly characterize the isolates, 2,160 specimens (180 clams per month) were collected from three clam farms from January to December 2004. Two farms (sites A and B) were located in Venice (Chioggia, Veneto region) and one (site C) in the Marano Lagoons (Friuli Venezia Giulia region). Clams from 36 pools (i.e., one pool of 60 clams per month per site) were subjected to a high-sensitivity seminested PCR assay specific for a 360-bp diagnostic region internal to the Cryptosporidium spp. outer wall protein gene. Positive amplicons were sequenced and analyzed. Cryptosporidium DNA was found in clams from seven pools (sites A and B) during 1 month of sampling at site A and 6 months of sampling at site B, with Cryptosporidium hominis and Cryptosporidium parvum being detected. The expected infection rate of the clams was 0.36%. Site B showed a significantly higher expected infection rate (1.15%) than did the other sites (A = 0.14% and C = 0%). Given its high sensitivity and specificity, this seminested PCR assay can be considered a reliable tool for detecting and distinguishing species within the Cryptosporidium genus. The seasonal pattern of contamination and the related public health risks are of particular concern. 相似文献

The goal of this paper is to present a logical framework for the formalization of agents' mutual beliefs in a Multi Agent system. The approach is based on a combination of extensional specifications of beliefs and context-based (finite) presentation of the specifications by employing a particular class of Multi Context systems. The extensional specification provides a set-theoretic characterization of beliefs in terms of sets closed under certain conditions. Its finite presentation is provided by using as constructors inference rules inside a Multi Context system. The resulting framework allows for capturing many relevant cases of real (not omniscient) agents, which are very common in Multi Agent scenarios embedded in real world environments. The effect of extraction systems on the phenolic composition of virgin olive oils obtained from two different Italian cultivars (Coratina and Oliarola) was determined. The oils extracted using two-phase centrifugation showed in all cases higher phenolic concentration in comparison to oils obtained from three-phase centrifugation. In particular, the highest differences were observed for aglykone derivatives of oleuropein (3,4-DHPEA-EDA and 3,4-DHPEA-EA) that are the most concentrated antioxidant phenolic compounds of virgin olive oil. This article describes the application of ionic liquid 1‐decyl‐3‐methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate in the preparation of polypropylene‐silica composites. The sol‐gel technology was used to prepare xerogel silica‐ionic liquid hybrid S1 , which was obtained as a free flowing powder of aggregated spherical particles. Ionic liquid free silica S2 was obtained by extraction and calcination of S1 . Melt blending of isotactic polypropylene with S1 and S2 afforded the composites C1 (with ionic liquid) and C2 (without ionic liquid), respectively. The presence of ionic liquid on the S1 silica surface promoted significantly improved silica dispersion in the polymer matrix and prevented compression of the silica particles. Furthermore, the crystallization temperature of composite C1 was significantly higher, which indicated that silica‐ionic liquid filler S1 acted as nucleating agent. The resistance to thermal decomposition of both composites was increased, but this was higher in the presence of ionic liquid. These results show that liquid salts can function as coupling agents and compatibalizers for the preparation of polymeric composites with differentiated properties. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. High-resolution cryo-scanning electron microscopy was used to examine fibronectin fibrils formed in culture by human skin fibroblasts and in a cell-free system by denaturing soluble plasma fibronectin with guanidine. These studies indicate that the conformation of fibrils formed in culture and in a cell-free system appeared to be similar and that fibronectin fibrils have at least two distinct structural conformations. Fibronectin fibrils can be very straight structures with smooth surfaces or highly nodular structures. The average diameter of the nodules in these fibrils is 12 nm. Both conformations can be seen within an individual fibril indicating that they are not different types of fibronectin fibrils but rather different conformational states. Immunolabeling studies with a monoclonal antibody, IST-2, to the heparin II binding domain of fibronectin revealed that the epitope was buried in highly smooth fibrils, but it was readily exposed in nodular fibrils. We propose, therefore, that fibronectin fibrils are highly flexible structures and, depending on the conformation of the fibril, certain epitopes on the surface may be buried or exposed. 相似文献

In order to evaluate the influence of specific factors on mercury (P-Hg) levels and antioxidant power (P-FRAP) in human plasma, 26 healthy donors were examined by a dentist, their plasma analyzed for Hg by atomic absorption spectrometry and for total antioxidant activity by FRAP method. Hg plasma concentration was found to be correlated with the number of amalgam fillings, suggesting that Hg released from fillings is a source of Hg in non-occupational exposed subjects. P-FRAP correlated negatively with P-Hg suggesting a pro-oxidant role of the Hg released from amalgam fillings. Though age by itself was not significantly correlated with P-FRAP, when considered together with P-Hg in multivariate analysis, it was found to be a major related cofactor. Multivariate analysis showed no influence of fish consumption or cigarette smoking on P-FRAP. 相似文献
