Wireless mesh networks are an attractive technology for providing broadband connectivity to mobile clients who are just on the edge of wired networks, and also for building self-organized networks in places where wired infrastructures are not available or not deemed to be worth deploying. This paper investigates the joint link scheduling and routing issues involved in the delivery of a given backlog from any node of a wireless mesh network towards a specific node (which acts as a gateway), within a given deadline. Scheduling and routing are assumed to be aware of the physical interference among nodes, which is modeled in the paper by means of a signal-to-interference ratio. Firstly, we present a theoretical model which allows us to formulate the task of deriving joint routing and scheduling as an integer linear programming problem. Secondly, since the problem cannot be dealt with using exact methods, we propose and use a technique based on genetic algorithms. To the best of our knowledge, these algorithms have never been used before for working out these kinds of optimization problems in a wireless mesh environment. We show that our technique is suitable for this purpose as it provides a good trade-off between fast computation and the overall goodness of the solution found. Our experience has in fact shown that genetic algorithms would seem to be quite promising for solving more complex models than the one dealt with in this paper, such as those including multiple flows and multi-radio multi-channels.  相似文献

Drilling perforations and tool wear are intimately and mutually connected by fracture propagations at different size-scales. To study this interaction phenomenon, we propose an ad hoc developed fractal coupled theory. Describing the two processes in terms of drilling and wear velocities, the theory is able to predict the relation between these two quantities. The result is represented by a power law between wear and drilling velocities with exponent comprised between 2/3 and 3/2. Some experimental tests on different materials like mortar, concrete and reinforced concrete have also been performed. Theoretical predictions and experimental results agree satisfactorily.  相似文献

Summary The composition of three virgin olive oil varieties (Caroleo, Coratina and Leccino) was investigated after extraction with a new enzyme processing aid called Bioliva. Comparisons with reference oils extracted without using the biological preparation were made. The oils extracted by enzymes showed the following features: (i) higher contents of total phenols, o‐diphenols, major free and hydrolysable phenols, tocopherols, chlorophylls, pheophytins (Mg‐free chlorophyll derivatives), β‐carotene, major xanthophylls (lutein, violaxanthin and neoxanthin), agreeable volatiles, long‐chain aliphatic alcohols and superior triterpene alcohols; (ii) lower contents of disagreeable volatiles; (iii) higher sensory scoring and resistance to autoxidation; (iv) higher values of Naudet's integral colour index, carotenoid colour index, chroma and 1,2‐diglycerides/1,3‐diglycerides ratio and (v) lower values of lightness. These findings suggested that the oil's analytical pattern was meaningfully improved following this novel enzyme treatment.  相似文献

Embryos obtained from patients undergoing routine in-vitro fertilization (IVF) and embryo transfer were compared with those undergoing subzonal microinsemination (SUZI) for male factor infertility. Overall, the proportion of cleaved embryos was significantly higher in the IVF group in comparison with the SUZI group at 48 h post-insemination [1533 out of 1609 (95.3%) versus 776 out of 952 (81.5%)]. The mean +/- SD grading score of the IVF-derived embryos of 3.61 +/- 0.50 was significantly better than that for SUZI of 2.97 +/- 0.86 (P < 0.0005) at the same time. The implantation rates following the replacement of IVF or SUZI embryos at 48 h were comparable: 14.3 and 10.0% respectively. However, the IVF embryo implantation rate of 15.1% at 72 h was significantly better than that following the replacement of SUZI embryos at either 48 (10.0%) or 72 h (8.0%). The replacement of SUZI-derived embryos at 48 h resulted in significantly higher pregnancy (25.0%) and implantation rates (10.0%) than at 72 h, with rates of 10.8 and 8.0% respectively. Similarly, the overall embryo quality deteriorated following in-vitro culture for up to 72 h. The clinical pregnancy loss rate (33.0%) was highest following the replacement of SUZI embryos at 72 h, although the data were limited. It is suggested that these data indicate that a combination of in-vitro manipulation, the injection of multiple spermatozoa into the subzonal space and probably the genomic capacity of spermatozoa derived from poor-quality semen may contribute to the poorer outcome of embryo development following SUZI. Prolonged in-vitro culture beyond 48 h appears to be deleterious to the development of SUZI cleaved embryos and the subsequent outcome of treatment, and hence should be avoided.  相似文献
