In this paper, analytical studies have been conducted on the flow and thermal fields of unsteady compressible viscous oscillating flow through channels filled with porous media representing stacks in thermoacoustic systems. The flow in the porous material is described by the Brinkman–Forchheimer–extended Darcy model. Analytical expressions for oscillating velocity, temperature, and energy flux density are obtained after linearizing and solving the governing differential equations with long wave, short stack, and small amplitude oscillation approximations. Experimental work is also conducted to verify the temperature difference obtained across the porous stack ends. To produce the experimental results, a thermoacoustic heat pump is designed and constructed where reticulated vitreous carbon (RVC) is used as the stack material. A very good agreement is obtained between the modeling and the experimental results. The expression of temperature difference across the stack ends obtained in the present study is also compared with the existing thermoacoustic literature. The proposed expression surpasses the existing expression available in the literature. The system of equations developed in the present study is a helpful tool for thermal engineers and physicist to design porous stacks for thermoacoustic devices.  相似文献

OBJECTIVE: To examine the differences between independent and behavior-dependent stressful life events and chronic adversities in child psychiatric patients, community controls, and children with asthma. METHOD: The Psychosocial Assessment of Childhood Experiences was used to assess recent severe events (life events with high long-term threat) and major adversities (long-term experiences with high negative impact on child) in children attending a psychiatric clinic (n = 99), community controls (n = 26), and children with chronic asthma (n = 94). RESULTS: In the previous year, the psychiatric patients had, on average, experienced significantly more independent and behavior-dependent severe events and major adversities than either the controls or the asthmatic patients. The differences were most pronounced in relation to behavior-dependent high-threat life events and long-term-experiences. Among the psychiatric patients, one third of all severe events and one quarter of all major adversities were dependent on the child's behavior. The corresponding proportions in the controls and children with asthma were between one fifth and one twelfth. CONCLUSIONS: Psychiatrically disturbed children have an increased risk of experiencing behavior-dependent life events and long-term adversities compared with their peers in the community at large and compared with children suffering from a chronic physical illness such as asthma. Future studies need to examine the possible contributions of such experiences to the development and maintenance of psychiatric and physical illness in children.  相似文献

Fault tree analysis is still widely practiced in high-hazard industries. We propose in this article an algorithm for the reduction of fault tree expressions that are generated from automata representations of failure behaviors. Automata formalisms are increasingly being used to describe systems exhibiting sequence-dependent failures—i.e., the overall outcome like a total failure of the system can depend on the order in which events occur. A set of paths leading to a safety-relevant state is encoded as a standard sum of product canonical form, and without any loss of the significance of the sequencing of events. That is, the corresponding fault tree expression is basically a Boolean formula which is extended with the necessary temporal features (event occurrence priority). Such expressions can then be reduced into minimal canonical forms by using the Boolean methods together with the required temporal logic calculus. Since minimal failure sequences can be determined from the obtained reduced models, the proposed approach can improve the analysis of the dynamic effects of the sequencing of faults and propagated errors in such models. As a consequence, it can have a positive impact on the design of failure prevention measures. A fault tolerant example system exhibiting dynamic behavior is used to highlight the benefits of the approach.

The design and analysis of real-time scheduling algorithms for safety-critical systems is a challenging problem due to the temporal dependencies among different design constraints. This paper considers scheduling sporadic tasks with three interrelated design constraints: (i) meeting the hard deadlines of application tasks, (ii) providing fault tolerance by executing backups, and (iii) respecting the criticality of each task to facilitate system’s certification. First, a new approach to model mixed-criticality systems from the perspective of fault tolerance is proposed. Second, a uniprocessor fixed-priority scheduling algorithm, called fault-tolerant mixed-criticality (FTMC) scheduling, is designed for the proposed model. The FTMC algorithm executes backups to recover from task errors caused by hardware or software faults. Third, a sufficient schedulability test is derived, when satisfied for a (mixed-criticality) task set, guarantees that all deadlines are met even if backups are executed to recover from errors. Finally, evaluations illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed test.  相似文献

In a continuing study of the preparation of ampholytic ionomers from the polymerization of ion-pair comonomers (cationic-anionic monomer pairs) with nonionic comonomers, the preparation of such ionomers from methyl methacrylate and n-butyl acrylate is described. For both systems, ionomers of varying ion contents were obtained. In the n-butyl acrylate system, a linear relationship of Tq vs. mol % ion content was found, but this did not occur for the methyl methacrylate ionomers. The solubilities of these materials in a wide variety of solvents is discussed. It appears that for n-butyl acrylate ionomers of high ion content in aqueous solution, a new form of polymeric surfactant is obtained.  相似文献

This article presents the three-dimensional modeling of an induction motor using a magnetic equivalent circuit. The main goal of introducing the three-dimensional model is to include axial fluxes in the machine equations. Furthermore, enhancement of the precision of teeth flux estimation and air-gap permeances, as the most important and dominant factors, is another achievement of this model compared to that of the two-dimensional model. This increases the accuracy of the estimated torque. Although it is possible to include the impact of the bar skew in the two-dimensional modeling using a magnetic equivalent circuit, this can be included more precisely in the three-dimensional model due to the three-dimensional nature of the bar skew. Therefore, the three-dimensional model as an efficient method with rapid computations and suitable precision is used for modeling various types of eccentricity. It is shown that the three-dimensional model results are closer to the experimental results compared to that of the two-dimensional model. This confirms the merit of the three-dimensional model. Also, this method can be a proper substitution to the finite-element method in modeling a machine under fault and fault diagnosis.  相似文献

Myxalamids are potent inhibitors of the eukaryotic electron transport chain produced by different myxobacteria. Here, we describe the identification of the myxalamid biosynthesis gene cluster from Myxococcus xanthus. Additionally, new myxalamids (5-13) have been obtained by mutasynthesis from bkd mutants of M. xanthus and Stigmatella aurantiaca. Moreover, as these bkd mutants are still able to produce myxalamid B (2), the origin of the isobutyryl-CoA (IB-CoA) starter unit required for its biosynthesis has been determined. In a M. xanthus bkd mutant, IB-CoA originates from valine, but in S. aurantiaca this starter unit is derived from alpha-oxidation of iso-odd fatty acids, thereby connecting primary and secondary metabolism.  相似文献

This paper proposes a method for the composition and synthesis of lead zirconate titanate (PZT) piezoelectric ceramic for use in energy harvesting systems. The proposed material consists of (1?x)Pb(Zr0.53Ti0.47)O3xBiYO3 [PZT–BY(x)] (x=0, 0.01, 0.02, 0.03, 0.04, and 0.05 mol) ceramics near the morphotropic phase boundary (MPB) region, prepared by a solid-state mixed-oxide method. The optimum sintering temperature was found to be 1160 °C, which produced high relative density for all specimens (96% of the theoretical density). Second phases were found to precipitate in the composition containing x≥0.01 mol of BY. It is shown that the addition of BY inhibits grain growth, and exhibits a denser and finer microstructure than those in the un-doped state. Fracture surface observation revealed predominant intergranular fracture for x=0 and x=0.01, while a mixed mode of transgranular and intergranular fracture appeared for x≥0.02. The optimal doping level was found to be x=0.01, for which a dielectric constant (K33T) of 750, a Curie temperature (TC) of 373 °C, a remnant polarization (Pr) of 50 µC/cm2, a piezoelectric constant (d33) of 350 pC/N, and an electro-mechanical coupling factor (kp) of 65% were obtained. In addition, the piezoelectric voltage constant (g33), and transduction coefficient (d33×g33) of PZT–BY(x) ceramics have been calculated. The ceramic PZT–BY(0.01) shows a considerably lower K33T value, but higher d33 and kp. Therefore, the maximum transduction coefficient (d33×g33) of 18,549×10?15 m2/N was obtained for PZT–BY(0.01). The large (d33×g33) indicates that the PZT–BY(0.01) ceramic is a good candidate material for energy harvesting devices.  相似文献

Well-dispersed fish gelatin-based nanocomposites were prepared by adding ZnO nanorods (NRs) as fillers to aqueous gelatin. The effects of ZnO NR fillers on the mechanical, optical, and electrical properties of fish gelatin bio-nanocomposite films were investigated. Results showed an increase in Young''s modulus and tensile strength of 42% and 25% for nanocomposites incorporated with 5% ZnO NRs, respectively, compared with unfilled gelatin-based films. UV transmission decreased to zero with the addition of a small amount of ZnO NRs in the biopolymer matrix. X-ray diffraction showed an increase in the intensity of the crystal facets of (10ī1) and (0002) with the addition of ZnO NRs in the biocomposite matrix. The surface topography of the fish gelatin films indicated an increase in surface roughness with increasing ZnO NR concentrations. The conductivity of the films also significantly increased with the addition of ZnO NRs. These results indicated that bio-nanocomposites based on ZnO NRs had great potentials for applications in packaging technology, food preservation, and UV-shielding systems.  相似文献
