Cross Virtual Concatenation is the new technique proposed for bandwidth efficient transmission of data over SDH networks. SDH networks came into existence for reliable voice transmission. As the demand of data traffic grew in wide area networks, new technologies were developed and standardized for data transmission over SDH networks. The technologies used namely, GFP (generic framing procedure), VCAT (virtual concatenation) and LCAS (link capacity adjustment scheme) enable network operator to provide integrated voice and data services over their legacy SDH infrastructure. Data packets are encapsulated using framing protocols GFP. VCAT is a process of distributing the GFP framed data payload in number of virtual channels of same capacity forming a Virtually Concatenated Group (VCG). LCAS is used for dynamic bandwidth allocation. LCAS enhances the VCAT scheme with hitless in service addition and removal of VC’s to/from the VCG.VCAT combines homogeneous virtual channels together which in some cases limits the performance of VCAT. This paper describes the implementation of new concatenation technology named cross virtual concatenation (CVC), which combines heterogeneous VC’s together to utilize the SDH bandwidth more efficiently. CVC implementation requires only end node equipments to be upgraded as VCG members travel through the link similar to the conventional VCAT. This paper proposes FPGA implementation of transmitter and receiver circuits for 100 Mbps Ethernet data transmission over next Generation SDH systems using CVC, where two types of VC’s namely VC-3 and VC-12 are used for data transmission. Total Transmission delay is calculated as 125 μs. There is no complexity added at the receiver side due to this delay. The receiver is designed for 32 ms differential delay compensation which can be increased up to maximum 256 ms by increasing the buffer size at the receiver.  相似文献

Given their extremely small size and light weight, carbon nanotubes (CNTs) can be readily inhaled by human lungs resulting in increased rates of pulmonary disorders, particularly fibrosis. Although the fibrogenic potential of CNTs is well established, there is a lack of consensus regarding the contribution of physicochemical attributes of CNTs on the underlying fibrotic outcome. We designed an experimentally validated in vitro fibroblast culture model aimed at investigating the effect of fiber length on single-walled CNT (SWCNT)-induced pulmonary fibrosis. The fibrogenic response to short and long SWCNTs was assessed via oxidative stress generation, collagen expression and transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) production as potential fibrosis biomarkers. Long SWCNTs were significantly more potent than short SWCNTs in terms of reactive oxygen species (ROS) response, collagen production and TGF-β release. Furthermore, our finding on the length-dependent in vitro fibrogenic response was validated by the in vivo lung fibrosis outcome, thus supporting the predictive value of the in vitro model. Our results also demonstrated the key role of ROS in SWCNT-induced collagen expression and TGF-β activation, indicating the potential mechanisms of length-dependent SWCNT-induced fibrosis. Together, our study provides new evidence for the role of fiber length in SWCNT-induced lung fibrosis and offers a rapid cell-based assay for fibrogenicity testing of nanomaterials with the ability to predict pulmonary fibrogenic response in vivo.  相似文献

Imaging techniques based on neutron beams are rapidly developing and have become versatile non-destructive analyzing tools in many research fields. Due to their intrinsic properties, neutrons differ strongly from electrons, protons or X-rays in terms of their interaction with matter: they penetrate deeply into most common metallic materials while they have a high sensitivity to light elements such as hydrogen, hydrogenous substances, or lithium. This makes neutrons perfectly suited probes for research on materials that are used for energy storage and conversion, e.g., batteries, hydrogen storage, fuel cells, etc. Moreover, their wave properties can be exploited to perform diffraction, phase-contrast and dark-field imaging experiments. Their magnetic moment allows for resolving magnetic properties in bulk samples. This review will focus on recent applications of neutron imaging techniques in both materials research and fundamental science illustrated by examples selected from different areas.  相似文献

AIMS: To determine functional results after unilateral and bilateral cataract surgery in children with different aphakic optical correction. METHODS: In this retrospective study, we evaluated visual acuity and binocular vision in 107 children who underwent cataract surgery during the 10 year period from 1985 to 1995. Aphakia was corrected by an intracapsular intraocular lens (IOL), spectacles or contact lenses. RESULTS: Mean visual acuity was > 20/40 (< 0.3 log MAR) with normal binocular vision in 58 children over 7 months of age operated on for bilateral cataracts. Pseudophakic eyes regained visual acuity > 20/63 (< 0.5 log MAR) more often (90%) than aphakic eyes (46%) (p < 0.001). Binocular vision was also achieved more often after IOL implantation (p < 0.001). Visual outcome of early bilateral cataracts was less satisfactory in children with abnormal foveolar function. For 49 children who had surgery for unilateral cataracts, prognosis was poor when surgery was performed before the age of 7 months. For cataract surgery in older children (> or = 7 months) mean visual acuities were better with IOL implantation (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: Cataract surgery with unilateral and bilateral IOL implantation can provide a beneficial effect on final visual outcome in children who are operated on before abnormal foveolar function develops.  相似文献

The purpose of this study was (i) to determine whether pure fumonisin B1 could be incorporated into, recovered, and detected by high-pressure liquid chromatographic analysis from the semipurified Oregon test diet (OTD) used in rainbow trout feeding studies, and (ii) to determine if the incorporated fumonisin B1 was biologically available using the change in free sphingoid bases in liver, kidney, and serum as a mechanism-based biomarker. The results indicate that fumonisin is not easily quantified in the OTD. Recoveries ranged from 12 to 81% of the calculated concentrations based on the fumonisin B1 added to the OTD. However, the fumonisin B1 in the OTD was readily absorbed and biologically active as evidenced by marked increases in free sphinganine in liver, kidney, and serum. The magnitude of the increase in free sphinganine at 100 ppm in the OTD was comparable to that known to be associated with liver toxicity in rats, pigs, and ponies.  相似文献

Herpes simplex virus type 1 DNase (HSV-1 DNase) was expressed in insect cells by recombinant baculovirus (NPVUL12) and purified by a combination of anionic exchanger chromatography and gel filtration. Two polypeptides of 85 and 75 kD, whose ratio varied during purification, were induced 24 h after infection. The 75-kD protein was isolated and shown to possess catalytic activity. Gel filtration analysis indicated that the active form of the enzyme at an ionic strength of I = 0.3 is a dimeric protein with an apparent molecular weight of 130,000. The recombinant enzyme exhibited the overall characteristics of the native enzyme such as 5'-3' exonuclease and endonuclease activities with a preferred degradation of DNA. In the absence of extraneously added Mg2+, the enzyme was capable of removing mononucleotides from 5'-end-labeled DNA, but not from RNA and 3'-end-labeled DNA. The peculiar mechanism of double-strand DNA degradation suggests a specific role of HSV-1 DNase in DNA recombination processes during viral replication.  相似文献

The yielding, plastic flow, and fracture behavior of UHMWPE plays an important role in wear and failure mechanisms of total joint replacement components. The primary objective of this study was to compare the yielding, plastic flow, and fracture behavior of two implantable grades of UHMWPE (GUR 1120 vs 4150 HP). The first part of this work explored the hypothesis that up to the polymer yield point, the monotonic loading behavior of UHMWPE displays similar true stress strain behavior in tension and compression. Uniaxial tension and compression tests were conducted to compare the equivalent true stress vs strain response of UHMWPE up to 0.12 true strain. During monotonic loading, the equivalent true stress strain behavior was similar in tension and compression up to the yield point. However, investigation of the unloading behavior and permanent plastic deformations showed that classical deviatoric rate independent plasticity theory may dramatically overpredict the permanent strains in UHMWPE. A secondary goal of this study was to determine the ultimate true stress and strain for UHMWPE and to characterize the fracture surfaces after failure. Using a fracture mechanics approach, the critical flaw sizes were used in combination with the true ultimate stresses to predict the fracture toughness of the two resins. A custom video-based strain measurement system was developed and validated to characterize the true stress-strain behavior up to failure and to verify the accuracy of the incompressibility assumption in calculating the true stress-strains up to failure. In a detailed uncertainty analysis, theoretical expressions were derived for the relative uncertainty in digital video-based estimates of nominal strain, true strain, homogeneous stress, and true stress. Although the yielding behavior of the two UHMWPE resins was similar, the hardening and plastic flow behavior clearly discriminated between the GUR 1120 and 4150 HP. A statistically significant difference between the fracture toughness of the two resins was also evident. The long-term goal of this research is to provide detailed true stress strain data for UHMWPE under uniaxial tension and compression for future numerical simulations and comparison with more complex multiaxial loading conditions.  相似文献

The solution structure of an RNA-hairpin present in the pseudoknot, which is found at the 3'-terminus of turnip yellow mosaic virus genomic RNA, has been solved by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. The loop, which contains the sequence 5'-GGGUCA-3', was found to be highly structured and, contrary to expectations, does not attain its stability through GA or GC base pair formation but by triple interactions between the tilted adenosine and the minor groove sides of the first two guanosines. Interestingly, a very similar conformation was found for the cognate pseudoknot, implying that the 3'-hairpin is preformed for folding into a pseudoknotted structure. These findings suggest a mechanism of 'predetermined-fit' as a principle in RNA folding.  相似文献
