Eight molecularly imprinted polymers (MIP1–MIP8) were synthesized with different functional monomers and porogens using 3,4‐dihydroxyphenylacetic acid (DOPAC) as a template. Thermal, radical bulk polymerization was employed in the presence of ethylene glycol dimethacrylate as a cross‐linker. A computational analysis indicated that complexes with four molecules of 4‐vinylpyridine, 1‐vinylimidazole and acrylonitrile had high positive enthalpies of formation. The polymers synthesized with these monomers showed an imprinting factor below 1. Polymer MIP8 synthesized with allylamine as the functional monomer, with the highest energy of interaction with DOPAC, was characterized by the highest imprinting factor equal to 1.91. Examination of the binding ability of DOPAC and a group of structurally related compounds showed that the strong interactions between amine groups in the polymer and carboxylic groups in the analyte governed the recognition mechanism. The Langmuir adsorption model and the pseudo‐second‐order mechanism properly evaluated the MIP8 and non‐imprinted polymer 8 adsorption characteristics. Scatchard analysis revealed that MIP8 had two classes of heterogeneous binding sites with Kd(1) = 0.12 µmol L?1 and Kd(2) = 1.46 µmol L?1. Modified with gadolinium-containing layer, nanoporous titania electrode and its application in dye-sensitized solar cells were reported. The electrode prepared was characterized with UV-Vis and X-ray diffraction (XRD) techniques. The amount of gadolinium was measured with inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) experiments. The modified electrode showed reduced N3 dye adsorption ability, but increased light conversion efficiency in comparison with the non-modified electrode. The overall conversion efficiencies, determined under 400 W/m2 irradiation with tungsten-halogen lamp at room temperature, were 0.55% for non-modified and 0.74% for modified electrodes.  相似文献

This paper presents a generalization of the Lockhart equation for plant cell/organ expansion in the anisotropic case. The intent is to take into account the temporal and spatial variation in the cell wall mechanical properties by considering the wall ‘extensibility’ (Φ), a time- and space-dependent parameter. A dynamic linear differential equation of a second-order tensor is introduced by describing the anisotropic growth process with some key biochemical aspects included. The distortion and expansion of plant cell walls initiated by expansins, a class of proteins known to enhance cell wall ‘extensibility’, is also described. In this approach, expansin proteins are treated as active agents participating in isotropic/anisotropic growth. Two-parameter models and an equation for describing α- and β-expansin proteins are proposed by delineating the extension of isolated wall samples, allowing turgor-driven polymer creep, where expansins weaken the non-covalent binding between wall polysaccharides. We observe that the calculated halftime (t1/2 = εΦ0 log 2) of stress relaxation due to expansin action can be described in mechanical terms.  相似文献

Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are wieldy accepted as one of the main factors of the aging process. These highly reactive compounds modify nucleic acids, proteins and lipids and affect the functionality of mitochondria in the first case and ultimately of the cell. Any agent or genetic modification that affects ROS production and detoxification can be expected to influence longevity. On the other hand, genetic manipulations leading to increased longevity can be expected to involve cellular changes that affect ROS metabolism. The 66-kDa isoform of the growth factor adaptor Shc (p66Shc) has been recognized as a relevant factor to the oxygen radical theory of aging. The most recent data indicate that p66Shc protein regulates life span in mammals and its phosphorylation on serine 36 is important for the initiation of cell death upon oxidative stress. Moreover, there is strong evidence that apart from aging, p66Shc may be implicated in many oxidative stress-associated pathologies, such as diabetes, mitochondrial and neurodegenerative disorders and tumorigenesis. This article summarizes recent knowledge about the role of p66Shc in aging and senescence and how this protein can influence ROS production and detoxification, focusing on studies performed on skin and skin fibroblasts.  相似文献

Biological activity of new potential wood preservatives—ammonium- and triazolium-based ionic liquids—was determined employing screening agar-plate, agar-block, and perlite-block methods. Experiments were carried out on Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) and beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) wood. This study examined the effect of the ionic liquid structure on anti-fungal efficacy, depth of penetration, and fixation in wood. It was stated that the fungicidal value of new ammonium compounds depended, above all, upon the cation structure; for Coniophora puteana, it ranged from 2.7 kg m?3 to 4.6 kg m?3. These compounds effectively protected Scots pine wood against the action of mold fungi. Ammonium ionic liquids with a nitrite anion were characterized by strong fungitoxic properties, stronger than ammonium nitrates. The application in the amount of 15 g m?2 caused an insignificant growth of mold fungi on the surface of Scots pine wood. For the mixture of 7.5% tebuconazole and 7.5% propiconazole dissolved in ionic liquids, the synergistic effect against mold fungi at the application of 15 g m?2 was found. Dissolving tebuconazole in didecyldimethylammonium nitrate repeatedly lowered the fungicidal value against brown-rot fungi, as well as increased penetration of the ionic liquids in wood. This was associated with reduced viscosity of this ionic liquid caused by the addition of 1,2,4-triazole derivatives. Quaternary derivatives of 1,2,4-triazoles showed very high activity against blue stain and wood-decaying fungi. Additionally, most of the test compounds were well-fixed in Scots pine wood. The spectral study in infrared confirmed that nitrite, nitrate anions, and didecyldimethylammonium cation were retained in the treated wood.  相似文献

Itaconic acid (IA) was grafted onto polypropylene/low‐density polyethylene (PP/LDPE) blends. The ratio of polymeric components was varied from 100 : 0 to 0 : 100. The effect of the variation in the ratios of the components on grafting efficiency and concomitant side processes was studied. Grafting of IA (1 wt %) was initiated by 2,5‐dimethyl‐2,5‐di(tert‐butyl peroxy)‐hexane (0.3 wt %) and was carried out in an extruder reactor equipped with a dynamic mixer. An increase in the PP content of the blend led to a lower yield of the grafted product. With low concentrations of LDPE in the blend (up to 25 wt %), grafting efficiency was observed to increase, and this increase was greater in comparison with the additive rule. Between 25 and 99 wt % of LDPE in the blend, grafting efficiency rose monotonically with LDPE concentration. At or below an LDPE content of 25 wt %, the melt flow index (MFI) of [PP/LDPE]‐g‐IA would increase unlike with PP‐g‐IA systems. But a small quantity of PP (below 25 wt %) in the [PP/LDPE]‐g‐IA blends would result in a decreased MFI unlike with LDPE‐g‐IA. The dependence of swell index and melt strength on the ratio of polymeric components in [PP/LDPE]‐g‐IA blends also was investigated. ©2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
