This paper introduces an automated methodology for the extraction of fetal heart rate from cutaneous potential abdominal electrocardiogram (abdECG) recordings. A three-stage methodology is proposed. Having the initial recording, which consists of a small number of abdECG leads in the first stage, the maternal R-peaks and fiducial points (QRS onset and offset) are detected using time-frequency (t-f) analysis and medical knowledge. Then, the maternal QRS complexes are eliminated. In the second stage, the positions of the candidate fetal R-peaks are located using complex wavelets and matching theory techniques. In the third stage, the fetal R-peaks, which overlap with the maternal QRS complexes (eliminated in the first stage) are found using two approaches: a heuristic algorithm technique and a histogram-based technique. The fetal R-peaks detected are used to calculate the fetal heart rate. The methodology is validated using a dataset of eight short and ten long-duration recordings, obtained between the 20th and the 41st week of gestation, and the obtained accuracy is 97.47%. The proposed methodology is advantageous, since it is based on the analysis of few abdominal leads in contrast to other proposed methods, which need a large number of leads.  相似文献

This study focuses on the potential of satellite hyperspectral imagery to monitor vegetation biophysical and biochemical characteristics through narrow-band indices and different viewing angles. Hyperspectral images of the CHRIS/PROBA sensor in imaging mode 1 (5 observation angles, 62 bands, 410-1005 nm) were acquired throughout a two-year period for a Mediterranean ecosystem fully covered by the semi-deciduous shrub Phlomis fruticosa. During each acquisition, coincident ecophysiological field measurements were conducted. Leaf area index (LAI), leaf biochemical content (chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, carotenoids) and leaf water potential were measured. The hyperspectral images were corrected for coherent noises, cloud and atmosphere, in order to produce ground reflectance images. The reflectance spectrum of each image was used to calculate a variety of vegetation indices (VIs) that are already published in relevant literature. Additionally, all combinations of the 62 bands were used in order to calculate Normalized Difference Spectral Indices (NDSI(x,y)) and Simple Subtraction Indices (SSI(x,y)). The above indices along with raw reflectance and reflectance derivatives were examined for linear relationship with the ground-measured variables and the strongest relationships were determined. It is concluded that higher observation angles are better for the extraction of biochemical indices. The first derivative of the reflectance spectra proved to be very useful in the prediction of all measured variables. In many cases, complex and improved spectral indices that are proposed in the literature do not seem to be more accurate than simple NDSIs such as NDVI. Even traditional broadband NDVI is proved to be adequate in LAI prediction, while green bands seem also very useful. However, in biochemical estimation narrow bands are necessary. Indices that incorporate red, blue and IR bands, such as PSRI, SIPI and mNDVI presented good performance in chlorophyll estimation, while CRI did not show any relevance to carotenoids and WI was poorly correlated to water potential. Moreover, analyses indicated that it is very important to use a near red-edge band (701 nm) for effective chlorophyll index design. SSIs that incorporate 701 nm with 511 or 605 nm showed best performance in chlorophyll determination. For carotenoid estimation, a band on the edge of carotenoid absorption (511 nm) combined with a red band performed best, while a normalized index of two water absorption bands (945, 971 nm) proved to be an effective water index. Finally, the attempt to investigate stress conditions through pigment ratios resulted in the use of the band centred at 701 nm.  相似文献

Scanning and acquisition methods produce highly detailed surface meshes that need multi‐chart parameterizations to reduce stretching and distortion. From these complex shape surfaces, high‐quality approximations are automatically generated by using surface simplification techniques. Multi‐chart textures hinder the quality of the simplification of these techniques for two reasons: either the chart boundaries cannot be simplified leading to a lack of geometric fidelity; or texture distortions and artefacts appear near the simplified boundaries. In this paper, we present an edge‐collapse based simplification method that provides an accurate, low‐resolution approximation from a multi‐chart textured model. For each collapse, the model is reparameterized by local bijective mappings to avoid texture distortions and chart boundary artefacts on the simplified mesh due to the geometry changes. To better apply the appearance attributes and to guarantee geometric fidelity, we drive the simplification process with the quadric error metrics weighted by a local area distortion measure.  相似文献

A new design approach to create an efficient high-performance JPEG-LS encoder is proposed in this paper. The proposed implementation compresses the image data with the lossless mode of JPEG-LS. When the acquisition of precious content (image) is specified to occur in real-time, then lossless compression is essential. Lossless compression is important to critical applications, such as the acquisition of medical images and transmission of high-definition high-resolution images from space (satellite). The contribution of the paper is to introduce an efficient pipelined JPEG-LS encoder, which requires significantly lower encoding time than any other available JPEG-LS hardware or software implementation. The experimental results show that encoding is performed as expected in high-speed, being able to serve real-time applications. This is the first time that a JPEG-LS implementation offers such a high-speed encoding.

A methodology for the automated development of fuzzy expert systems is presented. The idea is to start with a crisp model described by crisp rules and then transform them into a set of fuzzy rules, thus creating a fuzzy model. The adjustment of the model's parameters is performed via a stochastic global optimization procedure. The proposed methodology is tested by applying it to problems related to cardiovascular diseases, such as automated arrhythmic beat classification and automated ischemic beat classification, which, besides being well-known benchmarks, are of particular interest due to their obvious medical diagnostic importance. For both problems, the initial set of rules was determined by expert cardiologists, and the MIT-BIH arrhythmia database and the European ST-T database are used for optimizing the fuzzy model's parameters and evaluating the fuzzy expert system. In both cases, the results indicate an escalation of the performance from the simple initial crisp model to the more sophisticated fuzzy models, proving the scientific added value of the proposed framework. Also, the ability to interpret the decisions of the created fuzzy expert systems is a major advantage compared to "black box" approaches, such as neural networks and other techniques.  相似文献

Recent advances in fire test methods and hazard analysis techniques make it useful to re‐examine passenger train fire safety requirements. The use of test methods based on heat release rate (HRR), incorporated with fire modelling and hazard analysis, could permit the assessment of potential hazards under realistic fire conditions. The results of research directed at the evaluation of passenger train car interior materials in the cone calorimeter are presented. These measurements provide data necessary for fire modelling as well as quantitative data that can be used to evaluate the performance of component materials and assemblies. The cone calorimeter test data were also compared with test data resulting from individual bench‐test methods specified in the FRA fire safety guidelines. The majority of the tested materials which meet the current FRA guidelines show comparable performance in the cone calorimeter. Copyright © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Polycarcin V, a polyketide natural product of Streptomyces polyformus, was chosen to study structure–activity relationships of the gilvocarcin group of antitumor antibiotics due to a similar chemical structure and comparable bioactivity with gilvocarcin V, the principle compound of this group, and the feasibility of enzymatic modifications of its sugar moiety by auxiliary O‐methyltransferases. Such enzymes were used to modify the interaction of the drug with histone H3, the biological target that interacts with the sugar moiety. Cytotoxicity assays revealed that a free 2′‐OH group of the sugar moiety is essential to maintain the bioactivity of polycarcin V, apparently an important hydrogen bond donor for the interaction with histone H3, and converting 3′‐OH into an OCH3 group improved the bioactivity. Bis‐methylated polycarcin derivatives revealed weaker activity than the parent compound, indicating that at least two hydrogen bond donors in the sugar are necessary for optimal binding.  相似文献

The Akaki Dam is located some 26 km southwest of Nicosia and 0.5 km west of Malounta village. The dam is up to 31 m high and has a storage capacity of 2 million m3. Precursor nanoparticles that form spontaneously on hydrolysis of tetraethylorthosilicate in aqueous solutions of tetrapropylammonium (TPA) hydroxide evolve to TPA-silicalite-1, a molecular-sieve crystal that serves as a model for the self-assembly of porous inorganic materials in the presence of organic structure-directing agents. The structure and role of these nanoparticles are of practical significance for the fabrication of hierarchically ordered porous materials and molecular-sieve films, but still remain elusive. Here we show experimental findings of nanoparticle and crystal evolution during room-temperature ageing of the aqueous suspensions that suggest growth by aggregation of nanoparticles. A kinetic mechanism suggests that the precursor nanoparticle population is distributed, and that the 5-nm building units contributing most to aggregation only exist as an intermediate small fraction. The proposed oriented-aggregation mechanism should lead to strategies for isolating or enhancing the concentration of crystal-like nanoparticles.  相似文献
