Diffusion tensor imaging is of high value in neurosurgery, providing information about the location of white matter tracts in the human brain. For their reconstruction, streamline techniques commonly referred to as fiber tracking model the underlying fiber structures and have therefore gained interest. To meet the requirements of surgical planning and to overcome the visual limitations of line representations, a new real-time visualization approach of high visual quality is introduced. For this purpose, textured triangle strips and point sprites are combined in a hybrid strategy employing GPU programming. The triangle strips follow the fiber streamlines and are textured to obtain a tube-like appearance. A vertex program is used to orient the triangle strips towards the camera. In order to avoid triangle flipping in case of fiber segments where the viewing and segment direction are parallel, a correct visual representation is achieved in these areas by chains of point sprites. As a result, a high quality visualization similar to tubes is provided allowing for interactive multimodal inspection. Overall, the presented approach is faster than existing techniques of similar visualization quality and at the same time allows for real-time rendering of dense bundles encompassing a high number of fibers, which is of high importance for diagnosis and surgical planning. 相似文献

The determination of grain boundary planes in multicrystalline material has only been restricted to transmission electron microscope investigations (Jang et al., 1992; Elgat et al., 1985) or to metallograpical investigations of the grain boundary (Randle et al., 1993). The first method is expensive, and both are complex and time consuming in grain boundary preparation. This paper proposes the determination of grain boundary planes in semiconductor wafer by a combined application of Electron Back Scatter Diffraction and Infrared Transmission Microscopy. Global beverage can and food container consumption is very high, with billions of cans produced annually worldwide. There are several steps in can manufacturing, but ironing is the most crucial. In a previous work (Sellés et al., J Mater Process Technol 202:7–14, 2008), a series of ironing experiments were reported using a new material and an ironing simulator. This material was a three-layered polymer-coated steel, and it was seen that under some process conditions, it survived the ironing process with no damage in any of the three layers. The critical die angle was determined as well as specimen quality surface tests. In this paper, an associated theoretical ironing model is described, using the upper-bound theorem and considering the cases of successful ironing or shaving. Adolescents spend a substantial part of their leisure time with playing games and using social media such as Facebook. The present paper examines the link between adolescents' computer and Internet activities and computer literacy (defined as the ability to work with a computer efficiently). A cross-sectional study with N = 200 adolescents, aged 17 on average, was conducted. Hierarchical regression analyses showed that an increase in time spent playing games on a PC/Mac was related to higher scores on practical and theoretical computer knowledge. Moreover, practical computer knowledge was higher for adolescents who liked playing shooters, fantasy games, or Facebook-games. Frequency of social media use was associated with higher scores in practical computer knowledge. A bootstrap analysis indicated that this relationship was mediated by a decrease in computer anxiety, not by more positive attitudes toward the computer. Gender yielded substantial main effects on the media literacy variables but the associations between the computer and Internet activities and the literacy aspects were similar for boys and girls. This study is expected to encourage future longitudinal research on adolescents' incidental learning during leisure time computer and Internet activities. 相似文献

This paper presents a multi-view acquisition system using multi-modal sensors, composed of time-of-flight (ToF) range sensors and color cameras. Our system captures the multiple pairs of color images and depth maps at multiple viewing directions. In order to ensure the acceptable accuracy of measurements, we compensate errors in sensor measurement and calibrate multi-modal devices. Upon manifold experiments and extensive analysis, we identify the major sources of systematic error in sensor measurement and construct an error model for compensation. As a result, we provide a practical solution for the real-time error compensation of depth measurement. Moreover, we implement the calibration scheme for multi-modal devices, unifying the spatial coordinate for multi-modal sensors. The main contribution of this work is to present the thorough analysis of systematic error in sensor measurement and therefore provide a reliable methodology for robust error compensation. The proposed system offers a real-time multi-modal sensor calibration method and thereby is applicable for the 3D reconstruction of dynamic scenes. 相似文献

There are two main strategies for solving correspondence problems in computer vision: sparse local feature based approaches
and dense global energy based methods. While sparse feature based methods are often used for estimating the fundamental matrix
by matching a small set of sophistically optimised interest points, dense energy based methods mark the state of the art in
optical flow computation. The goal of our paper is to show that this separation into different application domains is unnecessary
and can be bridged in a natural way. As a first contribution we present a new application of dense optical flow for estimating
the fundamental matrix. Comparing our results with those obtained by feature based techniques we identify cases in which dense
methods have advantages over sparse approaches. Motivated by these promising results we propose, as a second contribution,
a new variational model that recovers the fundamental matrix and the optical flow simultaneously as the minimisers of a single
energy functional. In experiments we show that our coupled approach is able to further improve the estimates of both the fundamental
matrix and the optical flow. Our results prove that dense variational methods can be a serious alternative even in classical

Streaming video over a wireless network faces several challenges such as high packet error rates, bandwidth variations, and delays, which could have negative effects on the video streaming and the viewer will perceive a frozen picture for certain durations due to loss of frames. In this study, we propose a Time Interleaving Robust Streaming (TIRS) technique to significantly reduce the frozen video problem and provide a satisfactory quality for the mobile viewer. This is done by reordering the streaming video frames as groups of even and odd frames. The objective of streaming the video in this way is to avoid the losses of a sequence of neighbouring frames in case of a long sequence interruption. We evaluate our approach by using a user panel and mean opinion score (MOS) measurements; where the users observe three levels of frame losses. The results show that our technique significantly improves the smoothness of the video on the mobile device in the presence of frame losses, while the transmitted data are only increased by almost 9% (due to reduced time locality). 相似文献

The characterization of the first in-plane mode of aluminum nitride-actuated piezoelectric microcantilevers was carried out by using electrical and optical techniques. The top electrode of the cantilever was specifically designed to allow for an efficient electrical actuation of these in-plane modes. In order to confirm the in-plane nature of the modal vibration, the detection of the electrically induced movement was performed optically with the help of a stroboscopic microscope. In parallel, resonances were also measured electrically by means of an impedance analyzer. The quality factor and the resonant frequencies of the in-plane modes were estimated from the corresponding measurement data when applying both detection techniques. Our results show quality factor values as high as 3,000 for the first in-plane mode in air. 相似文献
