To obtain practical information on the electroelastic behavior of poly-l-lactic acid microtweezers or catheters, a previously constructed analytical technique is used to obtain the electroelastic field solution of a poly-l-lactic acid cylindrical fiber exposed to a local electric field, which is applied through an opposed pair of square-sectioned electrodes. The numerical representation of the solution reveals the detailed field quantity distributions, their importance in the design of microtweezers and catheters, the overall deformation of such devices, and the effects of the electrode dimensions on the deformation. 相似文献

A mesogenic epoxy resin (DGETAM) was cured with a series of curing agents having different lengths of long alkyl chain (nBAB, n = 4, 8, 12). Properties of the curings were compared with those of the DGEBA cured with the same curing agents revealing the achievement of a balance between certain levels of thermal properties and excellent mechanical properties. Moreover, some curing systems were prepared with twin mesogenic type epoxy resins (DGEnMA, n = 4, 6, 8, 10, 12) having different lengths of alkyl chain as a flexible spacer and the same curing agents (n′BABs). Combinations of the same concentrations of chemical structures in the basic units of the network structure were applied, and the thermal and mechanical properties of their curing systems were investigated. The fracture energy of each system increased considerably with the increase of the alkyl chain length that adjoins the two mesogenic groups in the epoxy resins. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Poly(3-hexylthiophene-2,5-diyl) is among the most widely used conjugated polymers for opto-electronic applications. To enhance its properties, researchers have attempted to nanostructure this polymer using various processes including breath figure arrays, nanolithography and elaborated organic synthesis. We here demonstrate a simple process to nanostructure the conjugated polymer using self-assembly with polystyrene and selective removal of one of the phases. The influence of the molecular weight of each polymer on the thin film morphology was systematically studied by atomic force microscopy. Using this approach, we observe two types of nanostructure, namely, nanoporous and nanoisland structures, of which the dimensions can be tuned by modifying the molecular weight of each polymer in the blend. This simple process introduces a cost-effective alternative to produce thin films of conjugated polymer with average nano-features from 100 nm up to 500 nm which could be used in a wide range of applications. 相似文献

p53 immunohistochemistry is considered an accurate surrogate marker reflecting the underlying TP53 mutation status and has utility in tumor diagnostics. In the present study, 269 primary CRCs were immunohistochemically evaluated for p53 expression to assess its utility in diagnostic pathology and prognostication. p53 expression was wild-type in 59 cases (23%), overexpressed in 143 cases (55%), completely lost in 50 cases (19%), and cytoplasmic in 10 cases (4%). p53 immunoreactivity was associated with tumor size (p = 0.0056), mucus production (p = 0.0015), and mismatch repair (MMR) system status (p < 0.0001). Furthermore, among CRCs with wild-type p53 expression, a significantly higher number of cases had decreased CDX2 than those with p53 overexpression (p = 0.012) or complete p53 loss (p = 0.043). In contrast, among CRCs with p53 overexpression, there were significantly fewer ALCAM-positive cases than p53 wild-type cases (p = 0.0045). However, no significant association was detected between p53 immunoreactivity and the “stem-like” immunophenotype defined by CDX2 downregulation and ALCAM-positivity. Multivariate Cox hazards regression analysis identified tubular-forming histology (hazard ratio [HR] = 0.17, p < 0.0001), younger age (HR = 0.52, p = 0.021), and female sex (HR = 0.55, p = 0.046) as potential favorable factors. The analysis also revealed complete p53 loss (HR = 2.16, p = 0.0087), incomplete resection (HR = 2.65, p = 0.0068), and peritoneal metastasis (HR = 5.32, p < 0.0001) as potential independent risk factors for patients with CRC. The sub-cohort survival analyses classified according to chemotherapy after surgery revealed that CRC patients with wild-type p53 expression tended to have better survival than those with overexpression or complete loss after chemotherapy. The structural and kinetic studies of U(VI) complex with benzamidoxime(Hba) as ligand in CD3COCD3 have been studied by means of 1H and 13C NMR. The Hba molecule was found to coordinate to UO22+ in the form of anionic benzamidoximate (ba), and the number of ba coordinated to UO22+ was determined to be 3 by analyzing the chemical shift of 13C NMR signal for Hba in the presence of UO22+. The exchange rate constants(kex) of ba in [UO2(ba)3] were determined by the NMR line-broadening method. The kinetic parameters were obtained as follows: kex(25°C) = 3.1 × 103s−1, ΔH≠ = 35.8 ± 3.5 KJ mol−1, and ΔS≠ = −65 ± 13.7 J K−1 mol−1. The UV-visible absorption spectra of solutions containing UO22+ and Hba were also measured. The molar extinction coefficient of the complex was found to be extremely large compared with those of UO2(L)52+ (L = unidentate oxygen donor ligands) complexes. This is due to the strong electron withdrawing of UO22+ from Hba and suggests that an interaction between UO22+ and Hba is very strong. Such a high affinity of monomeric amidoxime to UO22+ reasonably explains the high adsorptibility of amidoxime resin to U(VI) species, and is considered to result in the high recovery of U(VI) species from sea water using amidoxime resin. 相似文献

Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) are the only cell population that possesses both a self-renewing capacity and multipotency, and can give rise to all lineages of blood cells throughout an organism’s life. However, the self-renewal capacity of HSCs is not infinite, and cumulative evidence suggests that HSCs alter their function and become less active during organismal aging, leading ultimately to the disruption of hematopoietic homeostasis, such as anemia, perturbed immunity and increased propensity to hematological malignancies. Thus, understanding how HSCs alter their function during aging is a matter of critical importance to prevent or overcome these age-related changes in the blood system. Recent advances in clonal analysis have revealed the functional heterogeneity of murine HSC pools that is established upon development and skewed toward the clonal expansion of functionally poised HSCs during aging. In humans, next-generation sequencing has revealed age-related clonal hematopoiesis that originates from HSC subsets with acquired somatic mutations, and has highlighted it as a significant risk factor for hematological malignancies and cardiovascular diseases. In this review, we summarize the current fate-mapping strategies that are used to track and visualize HSC clonal behavior during development or after stress. We then review the age-related changes in HSCs that can be inherited by daughter cells and act as a cellular memory to form functionally distinct clones. Altogether, we link aging of the hematopoietic system to HSC clonal evolution and discuss how HSC clones with myeloid skewing and low regenerative potential can be expanded during aging. 相似文献

The structure and rheological properties of binary blends of polycarbonate (PC) and polystyrene (PS) were investigated using various PS samples with different molecular weights, namely PS1k (Mw = 1,000), PS53k (Mw = 53,000), and PS240k (Mw = 240,000). The blends with PS53k and PS240k show phase-separated structures, whereas the blend with PS1k is miscible. The shear viscosity decreases greatly on addition of PS53k and PS240k, especially at high shear rates, which would be a great advantage at processing operations. Because the nonlinear response occurs in the small strain region for multilayered films of PC and PS240k, the origin of the significant viscosity drop for the phase-separated system is interfacial slippage at the phase boundary. 相似文献
