It is known that the performances of multi-phase reactors depend on the operating parameters (the temperature and the pressure of the system), the phase properties, and the design parameters (the aspect ratio (AR), the bubble column diameter, and the gas sparger design). Hence, the precise design and the correct operation of multi-phase reactors depends on the understanding and prediction of the fluid dynamics parameters. This paper contributes to the existing discussion on the effect of operating and design parameter on multi-phase reactors and, in particular, it considers an industrial process (e.g., the LOPROX (low pressure oxidation) case study, which is typical example of two-phase bubble columns). Based on a previously-validated set of correlations, the influence of operating and design parameter on system performances is studied and critically analyzed. First, we studied the effects of the design parameter on the liquid–gas interfacial area, by keeping constant the fluid physical–chemical properties as well as the operating conditions; subsequently, we discussed for a fixed system design, the influence of the liquid phase properties and the operating pressure. In conclusion, this paper is intended to provide guidelines for the design and scale-up of multi-phase reactors. 相似文献

Climate change is likely to have a profound effect on many agricultural variables, although the extent of its influence will vary over the course of the annual farm management cycle. Consequently, the effect of different and interconnected physical, technical and economic factors must be modeled in order to estimate the effects of climate change on agricultural productivity. Such modeling commonly makes use of indicators that summarize the among environmental factors that are considered when farmers plan their activities. This study uses net evapotranspiration (ETN), estimated using EPIC, as a proxy index for the physical factors considered by farmers when managing irrigation. Recent trends suggest that the probability distribution function of ETN may continue to change in the near future due to changes in the irrigation needs of crops. Also, water availability may continue to vary due to changes in the rainfall regime. The impacts of the uncertainties related to these changes on costs are evaluated using a Discrete Stochastic Programming model representing an irrigable Mediterranean area where limited water is supplied from a reservoir. In this context, adaptation to climate change can be best supported by improvements to the collective irrigation systems, rather than by measures aimed at individual farms such as those contained within the rural development policy. 相似文献

Over the last 3 years, a number of mass spectrometry-based methods for the simultaneous identification and quantification of individual proteins within complex mixtures have been reported. Most, if not all, of such strategies apply a two-step approach: the first for the separation of proteins or peptides, and the second uses mass spectrometry to identify and quantify the individual components. To simplify the outcome of both steps, certain chemicals and heavy-isotope-labeling are commonly used in the early stages of sample preparation (except in differential fluorescence labeling protocols). The ultimate goal of these strategies is to be able to identify every protein expressed in a cell or tissue, and to determine each protein's abundance, state of modification, and possible involvement in multi-protein complexes. The need of label declaration for egg proteins is temporarily suspended when they are used as a processing aid in winemaking, because of a lack of scientific data concerning their actual permanence as residual proteins in fined wines.The possibility to detect residual egg proteins in red wines treated with a commercial egg white preparation was studied. By using an immunochemical method residual egg proteins were detected in the experimental red wines only for doses of fining agent of 50 g/hL or higher, whereas no residual proteins were detected by this system in a commercial red wine.A simple method based on the recovery and identification of the wine fining proteins by liquid chromatography coupled with tandem MS (LC-MS/MS) in a gel-free approach was developed. This allowed the detection of egg proteins in red wines fined down to 5 g/hL of commercial egg white preparation and also in the commercial red wine. These results indicate that the analytical approach here suggested is superior to the immunochemical methods in detecting egg proteins in wines. Therefore hypersensitivity reactions after consumption of wines treated with egg proteins can be a real risk for egg-allergic people. 相似文献

In this work, an innovative procedure for real-time heat transfer modelling and dimensional change estimation during meat cooking was presented. By using a multipoint temperature probe, a punctual calculation of slowest heating point (SHP) temperature was obtained at each time from the radial temperature distribution inside the product. Experimental temperature data from the multipoint probe was combined with a mathematical algorithm previously validated to perform a real-time estimation of SHP temperature and residual cooking time on the basis of the data stored at each instant. The developed procedure and algorithm were validated by cooking pork loin and roast beef samples at 180 and 200 °C both under natural and forced convection regimes. Real-time predicted cooking time and SHP endpoint temperature values were very close to those experimentally obtained: at the 85% of the cooking process, the maximum percentage errors for SHP endpoint temperature and cooking time prediction were 1.72 and 1.67%, respectively. In addition, SHP location inside the meat samples was also obtained at each time instant and used to estimate dimensional changes during cooking: calculated final characteristic dimensions were very similar to those experimentally obtained for all cooking trials. The aim of this research was to study the biodiversity of lactic acid bacteria (LAB) in marinated seafood salad (pH 5.0) and their interaction on the growth of Listeria monocytogenes. LAB were highly present in the samples considered in this study, reaching values of 8.0 log cfu/g at the end of product’s shelf-life. A high biodiversity in terms of LAB species and strains was detected by means of RAPD–PCR within the 171 bacterial isolates collected. Among them Lactobacillus curvatus, Lactobacillus sanfranciscensis and Enterococcus were present in all the salad batches considered. Three challenge tests against L. monocytogenes were carried out in order to assess the growth of this pathogen in the presence of dominant populations of LAB. L. monocytogenes tended to decrease in time, suggesting that a stable concentration of LAB inhibits the development of this pathogenic micro-organism. 相似文献

Two macromolecular constructs incorporating a single polymer backbone with multiple photochromic side chains are developed. Both systems are prepared from preformed photochromic [1,3]oxazines after the ring‐opening polymerization of their norbornene appendages. In solution, UV illumination of these polymers opens the [1,3]oxazine rings in their side chains in less than 6 ns and with a quantum yield of 0.09 in both instances. The photogenerated species incorporate a 4‐nitrophenolate chromophore, and hence, their formation is accompanied by the appearance of an intense band in the visible region of the absorption spectrum. The photoproducts revert spontaneously to the original state with first‐order kinetics in microseconds. Furthermore, both photochromic polymers tolerate hundreds of switching cycles with no sign of degradation, even in the presence of molecular oxygen. Thus, this design logic and choice of functional building blocks can translate into the realization of innovative photoresponsive materials with excellent photochromic performance. 相似文献
