The closed air cycle humidification-dehumidification process was used for water desalination using solar energy. The circulated air by natural or forced convection was heated and humidified by the hot water obtained either from a flat plate solar collector or from an electrical heater. The latent heat of condensation was recovered in the condenser to preheat the saline feed water. Two units of different sizes were constructed from different materials. The productivity of these units was found to be much higher than those of the single-basin stills. Moreover, these units were capable of producing a large quantity of saline warm water for domestic uses other than drinking. No significant improvement in the performance of the desalination units was achieved using forced air circulation at high temperatures. While at lower temperatures, a larger effect was noticed. This can be related to the low heat and mass transfer coefficients at low temperatures and to the non-linear increase in the water vapor pressure with temperature.  相似文献

In the area of water purification, nanotechnology offers the possibility of an efficient removal of pollutants and germs. Nowadays, nanostructures used for detection and removal of chemical and biological substances include metals, azo dyes, nutrients, cyanide, organics, algae, bacteria, parasites, and etc. In the current study, an attempt is made to synthesize and characterization of NiAl2O4 nanostructures in an aqueous environment through the simple sol–gel method. Besides, three capping agents as glycine, asparagine, and alanine were used to investigate their effects on the morphology and particle size of NiAl2O4 nanostructures. This method starts from of the precursor complex, and involves the formation of homogeneous solid intermediates, reducing atomic diffusion processes during thermal treatment. The formation of pure crystallized NiAl2O4 nanocrystals occurred when the precursor was heat-treated at 800 °C in air for 150 min. The stages of the formation of NiAl2O4, as well as the characterization of the resulting compounds were done made using UV–Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray microanalysis, and X-ray diffraction. The magnetic properties of as-prepared NiAl2O4 nanostructures were also investigated with vibrating sample magnetometer. Furthermore, the photocatalytic properties of as synthesized NiAl2O4 were evaluated by degradation of methyl orange as water contaminant.  相似文献

Clustering of retail stores in a distribution network with specific geographical limits plays an important and effective role in distribution and transportation costs reduction. In this paper, the relevant data and information for an established automotive spare-parts distribution and after-sales services company (ISACO) for a 3-year period have been analyzed. With respect to the diversity and lot size of the available information such as stores location, order, goods, transportation vehicles and road and traffic information, three effecting factors with specific weights have been defined for the similarity function: 1. Euclidean distance, 2. Lot size 3. Order concurrency. Based on these three factors, the similarity function has been examined through 5 steps using the Association Rules principles, where the clustering of the stores is performed using k-means algorithm and similar stores are allocated to the clusters. These steps include: 1. Similarity function based on the Euclidean distances, 2. Similarity function based on the order concurrency, 3. Similarity function based on the combination of the order concurrency and lot size, 4. Similarity function based on the combination of these three factors and 5. Improved similarity function. The above mentioned clustering operation for each 5 cases addressed in data mining have been carried out using R software and the improved combinational function has been chosen as the optimal clustering function. Then, trend of each retail store have been analyzed using the improved combinational function and along with determining the priority of the depot center establishment for every cluster, the appropriate distribution policies have been formulated for every cluster. The obtained results of this study indicate a significant cost reduction (32%) in automotive spare-parts distribution and transportation costs.  相似文献

In this study, two new full adder/full subtractor designs based on quantum-dot cellular automata technology have been proposed. By means of the presented equation for SUM and SUBTRACT operations, the new high-speed, low power, and cost efficient designs have been achieved. Even if the three-level design has a lower cell count, occupies less area, and operates at a higher speed, the one-layer design is far more feasible. Analysis of the temperature and energy consumption of the proposed design indicates that the proposed approaches are superior to those of previous works.

In this paper, we present an approach for the design of plant layouts in stochastic environments. We consider systems where the, product mix and product demand are subject to variability and where duplicates of the same department type may exist in the same facility. In contrast to a job shop layout, we allow these duplicates to be placed in non-adjacent locations on the plant floor and for flow allocation between pairs of individual departments to be made as a function of the layout and the product demand realization. We present a scenario-based procedure that iteratively solves for layout and flow allocation. We show that having duplicates of the same departments, which can be strategically located in different areas of the plant floor, can significantly reduce material handling cost while effectively hedging against fluctuations in flow patterns and volumes. We show that the effect of duplication is of the diminishing kind, with most of the cost reduction occurring with relatively few duplicates. We also show that the quality of the obtained layouts can be quite insensitive to inaccuracies in estimating demand scenario probabilities.  相似文献

An uncertainty estimation and compensation can improve the performance of control systems due to structured and unstructured uncertainty. This paper presents a robust task-space control approach using an adaptive Taylor series uncertainty estimator for electrically driven robot manipulators. It is worth noting that not only the lumped uncertainty is estimated and employed in the indirect form of robust controller, but also the upper bound of approximation error is estimated to form a robustifying term and the asymptotic convergence of tracking error and its time derivative are proven based on stability analysis. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed controller is shown through simulation and comparison with two valuable control schemes applied on the Selective Compliance Assembly Robot Arm (SCARA) robot manipulator.  相似文献
