Oral delivery of curcumin (CUR) has limited effectiveness due to CUR’s poor systemic bioavailability caused by its first-pass metabolism and low solubility. Buccal delivery of CUR nanoparticles can address the poor bioavailability issue by virtue of avoidance of first-pass metabolism and solubility enhancement afforded by CUR nanoparticles. Buccal film delivery of drug nanoparticles, nevertheless, has been limited to low drug payload. Herein, we evaluated the feasibilities of three mucoadhesive polysaccharides, i.e., hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC), starch, and hydroxypropyl starch as buccal films of amorphous CUR–chitosan nanoplex at high CUR payload. Both HPMC and starch films could accommodate high CUR payload without adverse effects on the films’ characteristics. Starch films exhibited far superior CUR release profiles at high CUR payload as the faster disintegration time of starch films lowered the precipitation propensity of the highly supersaturated CUR concentration generated by the nanoplex. Compared to unmodified starch, hydroxypropyl starch films exhibited superior CUR release, with sustained release of nearly 100% of the CUR payload in 4 h. Hydroxypropyl starch films also exhibited good payload uniformity, minimal weight/thickness variations, high folding endurance, and good long-term storage stability. The present results established hydroxypropyl starch as the suitable mucoadhesive polysaccharide for high-payload buccal film applications.  相似文献

We report a new morphology of "cactus" top-decorated aligned carbon nanotubes grown by the PECVD method using pure C2H2 gas. Unlike most previous reports, no additional carrier gas is used for pretreatment. Carbon nanotubes can still grow and maintain the tubular structure underneath the "cactus" tops. It is proposed that the H atoms produced by the dissociation of C2H2 activate the catalyst nanoparticles. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) shows that the top "cactus" morphology is composed of a large quantity of small nanosheets. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) reveals the amorphous carbon nature of these "cactus" structures. The formation of these "cactus" structures is possibly due to covalent absorption and reconstruction of carbon atoms on the broken graphite layers of nanotubes produced by the strong ion bombardment under plasma. The third-order optical nonlinearities and nonlinear dynamics are also investigated. The third-order nonlinear susceptibility magnitude /chi(3)/ is found to be 2.2 x 10(-11) esu, and the relaxation process takes place in about 1.8 ps.  相似文献

The effects of C-alloying on the microstructure and secondary phase particles of Cu-2.5Fe-0.1P cast alloy were investigated by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), high-resolution electron microscopy (HREM), and image simulation. The mechanical and electrical properties were slightly improved, and grain refinement and fine γ-Fe particles were evident. Additionally, the Fe3P particles were characterized, and abnormally grown Fe3P particles were observed at the grain boundary in the non C-alloyed and C-alloyed specimens.  相似文献

An approach to the surface modification of TiO2 nanoparticles was described based on the thiol functionalization of TiO2 followed by thiol-lactam initiated radical polymerization (TLIRP) of methyl methacrylate (MMA). FT-IR, XRD and XPS analyses confirmed the grafting of the polymer on the TiO2 surface. TGA analysis revealed superior thermal stability of PMMA-g-TiO2 compared with PMMA. TEM measurements and time-dependent phase monitoring suggested much higher colloidal stability of PMMA-g-TiO2 than TiO2 in toluene. The controlled nature of the TLIRP of MMA from the surface of TiO2 was determined by GPC analysis.  相似文献

New spirofluorene-based quadrupolar two-photon absorbing dyes having triphenylamine and N,N-dibutylaniline as electron donors at the end of molcules were designed and synthesized. The third-order nonlinear optical properties of these compounds were studied using a two-photon excited fluorescence method. They were found to have high two-photon absorption cross-section owing to extended conjugation of the spirofluorene moiety. The effect of varying the donor strength could be discerned by comparing the two compounds. They were successfully used as a photosensitizers for two-photon initiated polymerization of three-dimensional micro-objects.  相似文献

We propose an estimation-theoretic approach to the inference of an incoherent 3D scattering density from 2D scattered speckle field measurements. The object density is derived from the covariance of the speckle field. The inference is performed by a constrained optimization technique inspired by compressive sensing theory.
