Holographic polymer-dispersed liquid crystal (HPDLC) memory formed by a subwavelength grating (SWG) mask is presented for new optical information processing. The SWG structure in a photomask is formed on the SiO(2) plate using the anisotropic reactive ion etching technique. The configuration contexts for optically reconfigurable gate arrays (ORGAs) are stored in the HPDLC memory by polarization modulation property based on the form birefringence of the SWG plate. The structural changes in mechanically mixed metals of immiscible combinations of elements caused by bulk mechanical alloying
(MA) through the use of high pressure torsion (HPT) were investigated in Ag–Ni and Nb–Zr systems. There was no alloying between
Ag and Ni on atomic scale even after 100 rotations of HPT. On the other hand, the β-Zr phase started to appear after HPT 2
rotations in the Nb–Zr system, even though β-Zr is a high temperature phase. Further, Nb and Zr were completely mixed to form
a bcc structured single phase after HPT 100 rotations. The sequence of alloying in the Nb–Zr system during HPT was discussed.
These results clearly suggest that non-equilibrium phases can form in the Nb–Zr system by bulk MA by the use of HPT. 相似文献

Computer dependent design space is illustrated with the recent international competition project for Kowloon Arts Center. The spatial condition of design resulted from the deployment of Euclidian geometry and use of the nonrational, complex surfaces. Another aspect of computer dependent space was rooted in the contemporary work situation where architects located on the three different continents collaborated in distributed mode over the internet. We have clearly resolved four chromosomal bands from four Pichia pastoris (Komagataella pastoris) strains by using contour-clamped homogeneous electric field gel electrophoresis. The size of the P. pastoris chromosomal bands ranged from 1.7 Mb to 3.5 Mb and total genome size was estimated to be 9.5 Mb to 9.8 Mb; however, chromosome-length polymorphisms existed among four strains. Thirteen cloned genes isolated from strain GTS115 were assigned to the separated chromosomes, revealing that different hybridization patterns were observed in the AOX2 and URA3 genes among strains. P. pastoris is frequently used as an efficient host for heterologous gene expressions. We analysed chromosomal stability of strain GTS115-derived recombinant cell expressing human serum albumin during serial cultivation under the condition of vegetative and non-selective growth. No chromosomal rearrangements were observed and the expression constructs integrated into the his4 locus on chromosome I were very stable even at 83 generations, suggesting that stable expression would be carried out even in large-scale fermentation. 相似文献

We have developed a new method of detecting clinical S. aureus strains possessing heterogeneous resistance to vancomycin (hetero-VRSA). The method exploits characteristic antagonism between vancomycin and beta-lactam antibiotics against the strain Mu3, a representative hetero-VRSA. The method comprises of the following procedures: 1) overnight culture of bacteria is streaked on brain heart infusion agar containing 4 micrograms/ml of vancomycin, 2) paper discs impregnated with any one of beta-lactam antibiotics are placed onto the plate, and 3) the plate is incubated at 37 degrees C and the cell growth was observed after 24 h and 48 h of incubation. The Mu3 cells were grown only around the beta-lactam discs due to the antagonism between vancomycin and beta-lactam against Mu3 cells. A total of 321 MRSA clinical strains isolated in 1995 and 1996 from 12 medical facilities in Japan were tested with this method. A total of 39 strains (12.1%; 24 h) and 67 strains (20.96%; 48 h) grew around the beta-lactam discs. All the 10 strains (representing 10 facilities), tested with the analysis of resistant subpopulations to vancomycin, showed similar heterogeneous patterns as observed with Mu3. The method was considered as a convenient and rapid substitute for the population analysis, the authentic method for the detection of hetero-VRSA strains. 相似文献

The tensile strength of epoxy resin reinforced with a random planar orientation of short carbon and glass fibres increased as the strain rate increased, and the increase in tensile strength became slightly remarkable with increasing temperature. The strain rate-temperature superposition was held for each composite. The strain rate and temperature dependence of tensile strength of composites could be estimated based on the dependence of the mechanical properties of the matrix resin, the interfacial yield shear strength and the critical fibre length. The strain rate and temperature dependence of the tensile strength of the hybrid composite could be estimated by the additive rule of hybrid mixtures, using the strain rate and temperature dependence of the tensile strength of both composites. The experimental values at a higher rate were lower than the calculated values. We report on the direct deposition of high-quality ZrO2 thin films on various kinds of substrates by the liquid phase deposition method. After reaction for 24 h, thin films formed on various kinds of substrates, and the obtained thin film was comprised of densely packed nano-sized particles. The film annealed at 500°C showed a tetragonal phase at room temperature and this phenomenon has been discussed from the viewpoint of crystallite size effect. The result of optical transmittance measurement revealed that high transparency, more than 70% transmittance, has been achieved for the film after annealing at 900°C. 相似文献

Electromechanical Properties of Porous Piezoelectric Ceramics 总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4
A theoretical approach is forwarded to predict the electromechanical properties of porous piezoelectric ceramics. The analysis is able to account for the effects of porosity shape and concentration and is applicable to piezoelectric ceramics of arbitrary material symmetry. By coupling the exact solution for a single ellipsoidal pore embedded in an infinite piezoelectric matrix with an effective medium approximation, the theory considers, in an approximate manner, interaction effects at finite porosity concentrations. The theoretical estimates are developed using a matrix formulation which enables all elastic, dielectric, and piezoelectric moduli of the porous solid to be readily computed. Numerical results are presented to illustrate the effects of the shape and concentration of the porosity on the effective electroelastic moduli and transducer parameters of practical importance. Particular attention is devoted to assessing the sensitivity of the effective electromechanical properties to the accuracy of the input data. Finally, theoretical estimates are shown to be in good agreement with existing experimental results for porous piezoelectric ceramics with various microstructural geometries. 相似文献
