Polymer crystallization under flow was investigated because final properties of polymers strongly depend on the crystalline structure and morphology formed during processing. In-situ synchrotron WAXS and SAXS were used to investigate the structure formation and morphological developments during quiescent and shear-induced crystallization of iPP with 3 different concentrations (0.01, 0.03 and 0.1 wt%) of β-nucleating agent. Under quiescent conditions, a high β-content was obtained at all those concentrations indicating the high β-nucleating efficiency of the nucleating agent. After application of shear, the β-nucleating ability at small concentration was retained, while at larger concentrations it was strongly retarded. Furthermore, the addition of β-nucleating agent was beneficial for the molecular alignment during processing, the anisotropic particles of β-nucleating agent were much more effective to align the molecular chains in the flow direction compared to isotropic ones. The DNA eicosamer 5'-TCCATGACGTTCCTGATGCT-3' is known to stimulate the innate immune system of vertebrae. The immunostimulatory activity is based on the activation of Toll-like receptor 9 (TLR9). While it is known that the CG dinucleotide of the eicosamer has to be unmethylated, the structural basis of the recognition of the DNA through the receptor remains unclear. Oligodeoxynucleotides containing the sequence of the eicosamer, or a portion thereof, ranging in length from hexamer to pentaeicosamer were studied by (1)H NMR spectroscopy. Based on two-dimensional NMR spectra, a number of resonances could be unambiguously assigned. For all oligonucleotides, structural transitions were detected upon heating, as monitored by the line width and chemical shift of low-field resonances. This includes the TC dinucleotide of the 5'-terminal portion, which does not have any clear base-pairing partners. The melting transitions, together with the NOESY cross-peaks, demonstrate that structure formation occurs well beyond the core hexamer 5'-GACGTT-3', a fact that may be important for understanding the molecular recognition by the Toll-like receptors of the innate immune system. 相似文献

Abstract For the purpose of silica surface layer modulation, a pneumatic-controlled two-substance atomizer with inertia-based coarse droplet separation was operated at different system pressures for tetraethyl orthosilicate precursor aerosol supply during combustion chemical vapor deposition. A comprehensive testing study was performed to characterize the atomizer’s performance characteristics, initial precursor aerosols at the atomizer’s outlet, transformed aerosols before combustion, combustion aerosols and formed layers. Laser diffraction spectrometry, differential electrical mobility analyses and condensation particle counting were used for aerosol characterization with regard to particle size and particle production quantities. Layers were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, spectral ellipsometry, water contact angle measurements and light transmission concerning geometric properties (thickness, surface structure and roughness) and physical behaviors (i.e., optical behaviors, hydrophobicity). Results show a quasi-linear relationship of the ejection mass flow of the pneumatic-controlled atomizer and geometric layer properties which again show a direct relationship to the physical properties. No correlation was found between the aerosols before combustion and the combustion aerosols since the majority of combustion aerosol particles are synthesized solely from the gas phase based on evaporated precursor material. Overexpression of the histone lysine demethylase KDM4A, which regulates H3K9 and H3K36 methylation states, has been related to the pathology of several human cancers. We found that a previously reported hydroxamate‐based histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitor (SW55) was also able to weakly inhibit this demethylase with an IC50 value of 25.4 μm . Herein we report the synthesis and biochemical evaluations, with two orthogonal in vitro assays, of a series of derivatives of this lead structure. With extensive chemical modifications on the lead structure, also by exploiting the versatility of the radical arylation with aryldiazonium salts, we were able to increase the potency of the derivatives against KDM4A to the low‐micromolar range and, more importantly, to obtain demethylase selectivity with respect to HDACs. Cell‐permeable derivatives clearly showed a demethylase‐inhibition‐dependent antiproliferative effect against HL‐60 human promyelocytic leukemia cells. 相似文献

Over a period of six months simultaneous suspended particulate matter measurements with two different high volume samplers, two different low volume samplers, an automated dichotomous particulate system and an integrating Nephelometer were carried out at the same semi-rural monitoring site in the vicinity of the Nuclear Energy Research Centre, Mol, Belgium. Except for the nephelometer all SPM-determinations were done gravimetrically. The entire experiment was based on the comparison of daily averages.A reasonable to good correlation was found between the different instruments although the daily levels as well as the overall statistics of the SPM-situation over a period of six months showed large deviations. For certain instruments the deviations seemed to be systematic. The experiment will be repeated over another period of six months in order to control the present findings. 相似文献

Two patients with proven 5-fluorouracil (5-FU)-associated cardiotoxicity were treated with the specific thymidylate synthase inhibitor raltitrexed safely, without evidence of cardiotoxicity. In this paper we present results of unsupervised cross-lingual speaker adaptation applied to text-to-speech synthesis. The application of our research is the personalisation of speech-to-speech translation in which we employ a HMM statistical framework for both speech recognition and synthesis. This framework provides a logical mechanism to adapt synthesised speech output to the voice of the user by way of speech recognition. In this work we present results of several different unsupervised and cross-lingual adaptation approaches as well as an end-to-end speaker adaptive speech-to-speech translation system. Our experiments show that we can successfully apply speaker adaptation in both unsupervised and cross-lingual scenarios and our proposed algorithms seem to generalise well for several language pairs. We also discuss important future directions including the need for better evaluation metrics. 相似文献
