Materials that show negative thermal expansion (NTE) have significant industrial merit because they can be used to fabricate composites whose dimensions remain invariant upon heating. In some materials, NTE is concomitant with the spontaneous magnetization due to the magnetovolume effect (MVE). Here the authors report a new class of MVE material; namely, a layered perovskite PrBaCo2O5.5+x (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.41), in which strong NTE [β ≈ ?3.6 × 10?5 K?1 (90–110 K) at x = 0.24] is triggered by embedding ferromagnetic (F) clusters into the antiferromagnetic (AF) matrix. The strongest MVE is found near the boundary between F and AF phases in the phase diagram, indicating the essential role of competition between the F‐clusters and the AF‐matrix. Furthermore, the MVE is not limited to the PrBaCo2O5.5+x but is also observed in the NdBaCo2O5.5+x . The tetragonal-to-monoclinic martensitic phase transformation in ZrO–3 mol% Y2 O3 (PSZ) containing 0 to 12 wt% Al2 O3 was investigated by dilatometry, XRD, and SEM-EDS methods. The propagation of the transformation into the specimen interiors was suppressed by the addition of Al2 O3 . The grain size was independent of the addition of Al2 O3 . Both Y2 O3 and Al2 O3 segregated at grain boundaries. From this segregation behavior, it was suggested that a certain compound or phase of Y2 O3 –Al2 O3 could be formed at grain boundaries, which would presumably prevent the propagation of the transformation into interiors of PSZ-containing Al2 O3 . 相似文献

Matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) expression is associated with advanced-stage cancer and contributes to tumor progression, invasion, and metastasis. Membrane type matrix metalloproteinase (MT-MMP) has a potential transmembrane domain at the C terminus and activates pro-MMP-2, which is mainly produced from interstitial fibroblasts. Its expression on the membrane of invasive tumor cells results in the pericellular space degradation at cell-matrix contact sites and renders cancer cells more invasive at the migration front. To elucidate the relationship between MT-MMP expression and metastasis and prognosis in gastric cancer patients, MT-MMP expression was analyzed immunohistochemically in 127 primary tumors and results were correlated with several prognostic parameters and patient's survival. MT-MMP immunoreactivity was stained on the cell membrane of cancer cells and fibroblasts in the invasion front. MT-MMP was detected in 72 tumors (57%) (MT-MMP-positive). MT-MMP expression was closely associated with macroscopically invasive type, nodal involvement, lymphatic invasion, vessel invasion, and peritoneal dissemination. Patients with MT-MMP-positive tumor had a significantly worse prognosis than those with MT-MMP-negative tumor (p<0.001). Multivariate analysis showed MT-MMP overexpression as an independent prognostic factor in gastric cancer patients. Immunohistochemical analysis for MT-MMP may be an indicator of metastatic potential or the prognosis of gastric cancer patients. 相似文献

The off response of the P III component isolated by aspartate in the human eyecup in vitro showed an initial rapid decay followed by a slow decay. The rapid decay in the human ERG originates mainly in cones. The rapid decay was also observed in human subjects. The spectral sensitivity curve of the rapid decay was found to be shifted toward short wavelengths in all nine protanopes tested. Fe-substituted Li2MnO3 including a monoclinic layered rock-salt structure (C2/m), (Li1+x(FeyMn1−y)1−xO2, 0 < x < 1/3, 0.1 ≤ y ≤ 0.5) was prepared by coprecipitation-hydrothermal-calcination method. The sample was assigned as two-phase composite structure consisting of the cubic rock-salt () and monoclinic ones at high Fe content above 30% (y ≥ 0.3), while the sample was assigned as a monoclinic phase (C2/m) at low Fe content less than 20%. In the monoclinic Li2MnO3-type structure, the Fe ion tends to substitute a Li (2b) site, which corresponds to a center position of Mn4+ hexagonal network in Mn-Li layer. The electrochemical properties including discharge characteristics under high current density (<3600 mA g−1 at 30 °C) and low temperature (<−20 °C at 40 mA g−1) were severely affected by chemical composition (Fe content and Li/(Fe + Mn) ratio), crystal structure (monoclinic phase content) and powder property (specific surface area). Under the optimized Fe content (0.2 < y < 0.4), the Li/sample cells showed high initial discharge capacity (240-300 mAh g−1) and energy density (700-950 mWh g−1) between 1.5 and 4.8 V under moderate current density, 40 mA g−1 at 30 °C. Results suggest that Fe-substituted Li2MnO3 would be a non-excludable 3 V positive electrode material. 相似文献

We investigated the electromagnetic wave transmittance and dielectric properties of yttria partially stabilised zirconia thermal-barrier coatings by terahertz time-domain spectroscopy in which the samples were irradiated by a pulsed THz wave in the frequency range of 0.1-6.3 THz. The coating microstructure was varied by changing the spray conditions and the THz transmittance and dielectric constants were examined as functions of frequency. The coatings exhibited a high transmittance of 20%-80% at frequencies below 0.5 THz and almost zero transmittance above 1.5 THz. The refractive index n for different coatings ranges from 4 to 6, depending on the coating microstructure. For any given coating, n increases to some extent with increasing frequency. Unlike the imaginary part of the dielectric constant, the real part of the dielectric constant is strongly correlated with the porosity of the coatings, which suggests that terahertz spectroscopy may potentially be used to non-destructively evaluate the porosity of ceramic coatings. 相似文献

Mechanical milling was carried out to synthesize amorphous tricalcium silicate (Ca3SiO5) sample, where Ca3SiO5 is the most principal component of Portland cement. The partial phase transformation from the crystalline to the amorphous state was observed by X-ray and neutron diffractions. Moreover, it was found that the structural distortion on the Ca-O correlation exists in the milled Ca3SiO5. The hydration of the milled Ca3SiO5 with D2O proceeds as follows: the formation of hydration products such as Ca(OD)2 rapidly occurs in the early hydration stage, and then proceeds slowly after about 15 h. The induction time for the hydration of the milled Ca3SiO5 is approximately one half shorter than that for the hydration of the unmilled one. This result means that the mechanical milling brings about the chemical activity of Ca3SiO5 for hydration, and may be particularly useful for increasing the reactivity in the early hydration stage. 相似文献
