A new interesting category of organometallic polyesters based on diarylidenecycloalkanones containing ferrocene derivatives in the polymer main chain has been prepared by interfacial polycondensation of 1,1′-dichlorocarbonyl ferrocene or 1,1′-dichlorocarbonyl-4,4′-diiodoferrocene with 2,5-bis(p-hydroxybenzylidene)cyclopentanone, 2,5-divanillylidenecyclopentanone, 2,6-bis(p-hydroxybenzylidene)cyclohexanone, 2,6-divanillylidenecyclohexanone, and 2,7-bis(p-hydroxybenzylidene) cycloheptanone. The resulting polyesters were characterized by elemental analyses, infrared spectroscopy, solubility, and viscometry measurements. The thermal behavior of the synthesized polymers was evaluated by thermal gravimetric analysis and correlated with their structures. The crystallinity of all polymers were examined by x-ray diffraction analysis. Moreover, the electrical conductivity of a selected example of polymer was investigated above the temperature range (300–500 K) and showed that it followed an Arrhenius-type equation with activation energy 2.09 eV. © 1993 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. 相似文献

MFI type inorganic carrier was used in two different cationic forms, hydrogen and calcium respectively. MFI-supported molybdenum
and rhenium catalysts were prepared. The activities of the catalysts were compared for the aromatization reaction of methane.
Higher activity values were attained with the catalysts supported on HZSM-5. Aromatics were also observed with the catalysts
supported on CaZSM-5, despite their deficiency in acid sites. Highly dispersed rhenium is expected to be formed with the use
of the inorganic carrier in calcium form. On the other hand, lower reaction rates were observed with rhenium supported on
CaZSM-5, in spite of the improved dispersion of the active rhenium species on this catalyst. This was interpreted in terms
of the critical role of the acid sites in the conversion of methane to aromatics, compared to the improved dispersion of the

Egyptian cotton linters were pulped by the nitric acid process. A series of statistical copolymers derived from 2‐(dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate with four different hydrophobic comonomers (ethyl, butyl, cyclohexyl, and octyl methacrylates) have been prepared via conventional free radical copolymerization under bulk conditions. The copolymers have been subsequently modified, with 1,3‐propanesultone to yield the corresponding polysulfoproylbetaine derivatives. Those copolymers exhibiting the requisite aqueous solubility have been screened with respect to their antimicrobial activity against two common and notorious pathogens, namely Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) and Escherichia coli (E. coli). We show that certain copolymers do indeed exhibit antimicrobial activity. The extent of activity is related to the molecular characteristics of the materials such as the molar composition and structure of the hydrophobic comonomer. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Composites consisting of a fine-grained, polycrystalline zinc oxide matrix and <10 vol% coarse, rigid silicon carbide inclusions were prepared by the same mixing procedure and then compacted to produce samples with matrix densities of 0.45 and 0.68 of the theoretical. The samples were sintered under identical temperature profiles in separate experiments that employed either a constant rate of heating of 4°C/min or near isothermal heating at 735°C. The ratio of the densification rate of the composite matrix to the densification rate of the unreinforced zinc oxide was found to be independent of the initial matrix density. This ratio increased significantly with temperature in the constant-heating-rate experiments but was relatively constant in the isothermal experiments. The results indicate that microstructural coarsening may be an important mechanism for explaining the reduced sinterability of polycrystalline matrix composites. 相似文献

The most commonly used bearing couple in prosthetic hip or knee joint replacements consists of a cobalt–chrome (CoCr) metal alloy articulating against ultrahigh-molecular-weight polyethylene. Ceramics have been used as an alternative to metal-on-polyethylene in joint replacement surgery of arthritic hips and knees since the 1970s. In prosthetic hip and knee bearings, ceramic surfaces offer a major benefit of drastically reduced wear rates and excellent long-term biocompatibility, which can increase the longevity of prosthetic hip and knee joints. This benefit is important clinically because hip and knee replacement has become a very common surgical procedure, particularly in the United States, and because these procedures are being increasingly performed in younger patients who place greater demands on the prosthetic bearings. However, ceramics are brittle and the risk of catastrophic bearing failure in vivo , while rare, is a major concern. Improvements in material quality, manufacturing methods, and implant design have resulted in a drastic reduction of the incidence of such failures, so that modern ceramic bearings are safe and reliable if used with components of proven design and durability. Future material improvements are actively being investigated to reduce the risk of ceramic-bearing failures even further. The purpose of this article is to review the structure, properties, applications, and limitations of the ceramics that have been used in orthopedic bearings, and to describe the new ceramic composite materials and surface treatments that will be available for joint replacement surgery in the near future. 相似文献

Poly(n‐butyl methacrylate) (PBMA) composites with calcium carbonate (CaCO3) were prepared by in situ radical copolymerization of butyl methacrylate (BMA) and methacrylic acid (MA) with precipitated calcium carbonate. To compare the different rheological behaviors of the monomer mixtures with CaCO3 and the composites, the steady and dynamic viscosities of BMA/MA/CaCO3 and poly(BMA/MA/CaCO3) were measured by means of steady and oscillatory shear flows. The viscosity of the mixture BMA/MA/CaCO3 was found to increase evidently with the increasing of CaCO3%. The influence of MA% on viscosity of BMA/MA/CaCO3 was slight. During the in situ polymerization, the viscosity of the reacting system was measured to be enhanced by a factor of about 104 from the monomer/CaCO3 mixture to composites. The dependency of zero‐shear viscosity on molar mass of PBMA was also investigated. The relation between the zero‐shear viscosity and molar mass is η0 = 10?15 Mw3.5. The evolution of the viscosity with the temperature for both PBMA and its composites was obtained and time–temperature superposition was used to build master curves for the dynamic moduli. The flow activation energies were found to be 115.0, 148.6, and 178.7 kJ/mol for PBMA, composite PBMA/CaCO3 (90/10), and PBMA/MA/CaCO3 (89/1/10), respectively. The Resource Constrained Project Scheduling Problem is one of the most intensively investigated scheduling problems. It requires scheduling a set of interrelated activities, while considering precedence relationships, and limited renewable resources allocation. The objective is to minimize the project duration. We propose a new destructive lower bound for this challenging ${\mathcal {NP}}$ -hard problem. Starting from a previously suggested LP model, we propose several original valid inequalities that aim at tightening the model representation. These new inequalities are based on precedence constraints, incompatible activity subsets, and nonpreemption constraints. We present the results of an extensive computational study that was carried out on 2,040 benchmark instances of PSPLIB, with up to 120 activities, and that provide strong evidence that the new proposed lower bound exhibits an excellent performance.
