This paper implements a simultaneous solar and thermal energy harvesting system, as a hybrid energy harvesting (HEH) system, to convert ambient light into electrical energy through photovoltaic (PV) cells and heat absorbed in the body of PV cells. Indeed, a solar panel equipped with serially connected thermoelectric generators not only converts the incoming light into electricity but also takes advantage of heat emanating from the light. In a conventional HEH system, the diode block is used to provide the path for the input source with the highest value. In this scheme, at each time, only one source can be handled to generate its output, while other sources are blocked. To handle this challenge of combining resources in HEH systems, this paper proposes a method for collecting all incoming energies and conveying its summation to the load via the current mirror cells in an approach similar to the maximum power point tracking. This technique is implemented using off-the-shelf components. The measurement results show that the proposed method is a realistic approach for supplying electrical energy to wireless sensor nodes and low-power electronics. 相似文献

Elastic‐Plastic Deformation Behavior of Nanostructured HPPMS Hard Coatings Nitride hard coatings deposited via HPPMS (High Power Pulsed Magnetron Sputtering) or HiPIMS (High Power Impulse Magnetron Sputtering) are widely used in tribological applications due to their promising wear and corrosion resistance. During the application, the coated tools or components may be exposed to significant mechanical loads. Therefore, investigations on deformation behavior of the coatings under mechanical loading are of great importance. The objective of the present study was a comprehensive investigation on deformation behavior of nitride hard coatings from the coating system M‐Al‐O‐N (M = Cr, V) using nanoindentation und nanoscratch tests. In this regard, both nanoscale multilayer (nanolaminate) and monolayer coatings were investigated. All the coatings were deposited using HPPMS technology. Contrary to the expectations regarding a brittle behavior of ceramic‐like coatings, the results depict a considerable plastic deformation of the investigated hard coatings. In this study, thermal and small-scale effects on the flapwise bending vibrations of a rotating nanoplate, which can be the basis of nano-turbine design, have been analyzed. The nano-turbine is made of an orthotropic nanoplate with a setting angle that is modeled based on the classical plate theory (CPT) with cantilever boundary conditions. The axial forces are also included in the model as the true spatial variation due to the rotation and temperature change. The governing equations and boundary conditions are derived according to Hamilton's principle and the governing equations are solved with the aid of the generalized differential quadrature method. The effects of small-scale parameter, nondimensional angular velocity, temperature change, and setting angles in the first four nondimensional frequencies are discussed. Due to the consideration of the rotating effects, results of this study are applicable in nano-machines, such as nano-motors, nano-rotor, and other rotating nano-structures. Also, by considering the effect of thermal loading on rotation of a nanoplate, the results are useful in the design of nano-turbines. 相似文献

A novel polymer–carbon (PTh–C) nanocomposites containing different percentages of polythiophene (10, 20 and 50% (w/w)) and carbon (Vulcan XC-72) was prepared by a facile solution dispersion method and used to support platinum nanoparticles. The effect of using different percentages of polythiophene in nanocomposites and subsequently prepared electrocatalysts was investigated. The resultant electrocatalysts were extensively characterized by physical (X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM)) and electrochemical (cyclic voltammetry (CV)) techniques. The TEM results showed that the fine Pt nanoparticles prepared by ethylene glycol (EG) method were distributed on the surface of the 50% PTh–C nanocomposites successfully. From the XRD patterns, the average size of dispersed Pt nanoparticles with the face-centered cubic (fcc) structure on 50% PTh–C, 20% PTh–C, 10% PTh–C and carbon were about 4.9, 5.2, 5.4 and 6.1 nm, respectively. The conductivity of PTh–C with different percentages of pure PTh was compared with the conductivity of the corresponding support of pure PTh. It is observed that the conductivity of 50% PTh–C nanocomposites is about 600 times higher than that of pure PTh. Finally, CV measurements of hydrogen and methanol oxidations indicated that Pt/50% PTh–C had a higher electrochemical surface area and higher catalytic activity for methanol oxidation reaction compared to other electrocatalysts. These measurements showed that the Pt/50% PTh–C electrocatalyst by the value of 3.85 had higher \(I_{\mathrm{f}}/I_{\mathrm{b}}\) ratio with respect to Pt/10% PTh–C and Pt/20% PTh–C by the values of 2.66 and 2.0, respectively. 相似文献

ABSTRACTThe present study is an investigation to demonstrate the effectiveness of in situ approach in the synthesis of hydroxyapatite-grafted titanium nanotube composite (HA-TNT). This method involves combining the process of HA sol–gel and rapid breakdown anodisation of titanium in a novel solution consisting of NaCl and N3PO4. This new synthesis approach produced a uniform dispersion of Anatase and Rutile phases of TiO2 nanotubes with minimal agglomeration in the matrix of crystalline HA. The characterisation of homogenised HA-TNT composite was investigated via field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), transmission electron microscope (TEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). FESEM and TEM images indicated the nanostructure of composite with TiO2 nanotube diameter of approximately 10 nm. XRD and EDS analyses confirmed the formation of HA crystalline with the Ca/P ratio of 1.58 and formation of Anatase and Rutile phase of TiO2 nanotubes. 相似文献

In the present study, we report for the first time synthesis of TiO(2) nanotubes/CNTs heterojunction membrane. Chemical vapor deposition (CVD) of CNTs at 650 °C in a mixture of H(2)/He atmosphere led to in situ detachment of the anodically fabricated TiO(2) nanotube layers from the Ti substrate underneath. Static tests, which compare the acid-generating potential and acid-neutralizing potential for a given mine waste (tailings or waste rocks), are characterized by a wide uncertainty zone in which it is impossible to accurately predict the acid-generating potential (AGP). Then, to better assess long-term AGP, kinetic tests are usually performed to provide more information about the reaction rates of the acid-generating and acid-neutralizing minerals. The present work compares the classic Sobek static test with three mineralogical static tests to assess the importance of sample mineralogy in acid mine drainage (AMD) prediction. We also investigated how experimental procedures related to static tests can influence prediction results. We used three synthetic tailings samples made by mixing well-characterized pure minerals in calibrated proportions. Although basically different in their principles and procedures, the modified Sobek and mineralogical static tests gave similar results. These AGP predictions were then validated by the use of a kinetic test. The kinetic test protocol was also modified in this study and the results obtained correlated well with the static test results, in contrast to the standard kinetic test protocol. The present work highlights the limitations of static and kinetic test procedures, and provides recommendations for a better use of these tests for more reliable AMD prediction. 相似文献
