An in vitro method was developed to determine the rate of drug release from a liposome formulation. Liposome formulation containing metaproterenol sulfate was evaluated for release of the drug over a 24-hour period in an end-over-end tumbler device. Drug release appeared to be a function of all the operating parameters, such as rotational speed of the end-over-end tumbler, temperature of suspension, and the geometry of sample container that is placed in the end-over-end tumbler device.  相似文献

In this paper, a novel high-frequency/high-power field-effect-transistor structure is presented to reduce gain degradation caused by common-source inductance. In this structure, the reduction in common-source inductance is achieved without the need for using very thin substrates or very complicated fabrication technology, such as vias under each source finger. Using detailed transmission-line modeling, it is shown that a significant reduction in common-source inductance and improvement in RF performance can be achieved even for moderately high values of source grounding via inductance. The new structure allows simpler fabrication technology and is expected to be particularly useful to reduce the cost and improve the performance of high-power microwave and millimeter-wave devices and circuits  相似文献

Energy is the key driver of the economy but energy crisis is a problem for the present-day source of energy. The concentrated solar power systems make use of different reflector configurations to convert the solar energy into high-temperature heat energy. Parabolic dish system is considered as the best suitable system for achieving high temperature and so it is opted for the study. Here, a solar dish is designed with an open diameter of 1.8?m (which is 2.5?m2 in area), and reflective film is being used to reflect the solar irradiance and concentrated it in the focal point. A receiver of 1?mm thickness and 10?cm diameter is used at the receiver end to measure the temperature of the focal point. The setup has made to attain a maximum temperature of 940°C and average temperature of 850°C in the focal point at clear sky in a sunny day.  相似文献

In the present work, the shell and tube heat exchanger (STHX) is designed based on The Tubular Exchanger Manufacturers Association standards with hot fluid (water) flowing on the shell side and cold fluid on the tube side. A comparison is made between the Nusselt number and friction factor obtained from numerical and experimental results of segmental baffles (SBs) and helical baffles (HB) with different baffle inclinations. The results show that SB provided a higher Colburn factor (js) when compared with HBs STHXs (20°, 30°, 40°, and 50°), but shell side pressure drop is lower for 40° HBs STHXs for the same shell side fluid flow rates.  相似文献

A comprehensive analysis is performed to evaluate the effect of weight, height and body mass index (BMI) of occupants on side impact injuries at different body regions. The accident dataset for this study is based on the National Automotive Sampling System-Crashworthiness Data System (NASS-CDS) for accident year 2000–08. The mean BMI values for driver and front passenger are estimated from all types of crashes using NASS database, which clearly indicates that mean BMI has been increasing over the years in the USA. To study the effect of BMI in side impact injuries, BMI was split into three groups namely (1) thin (BMI < 21), (2) normal (BMI 24–27), (3) obese (BMI > 30). For more clear identification of the effect of BMI in side impact injuries, a minimum gap of three BMI is set in between each adjacent BMI groups. Car model years from MY1995–1999 to MY2000–2008 are chosen in order to identify the degree of influence of older and newer generation of cars in side impact injuries. Impact locations particularly side-front (F), side-center (P) and side-distributed (Y) are chosen for this analysis. Direction of force (DOF) considered for both near side and far side occupants are 8 o’clock, 9 o’clock, 10 o’clock and 2 o’clock, 3 o’clock and 4 o’clock respectively. Age <60 years is also one of the constraints imposed on data selection to minimize the effect of bone strength on the occurrence of occupant injuries. AIS2+ and AIS3+ injury risk in all body regions have been plotted for the selected three BMI groups of occupant, delta-V 0–60 kmph, two sets (old and new) of car model years. The analysis is carried with three approaches: (a) injury risk percentage based on simple graphical method with respect to a single variable, (b) injury distribution method where the injuries are marked on the respective anatomical locations and (c) logistic regression, a statistical method, considers all the related variables together. Lower extremity injury risk appears to be high for thin BMI group. It is found that BMI does not have much influence on head injuries but it is influenced more by the height of the occupant. Results of logistic analysis suggest that BMI, height and weight may have significant contribution towards side impact injuries across different body regions.  相似文献

Wireless networks play a very important role in today’s modern world, convincingly surpassing the wired infrastructure in terms of popularity. Hence, it is important to ensure that services which access wired networks should also be accessible using a wireless network without any performance degradation. One of the most common variants in wireless communications is the Wireless Mesh Network (WMNs). WMNs exploit multi-hop wireless communications between wireless access points. Hence, the effective bandwidth decreases as the number of hops increases in a WMN, thus increasing latency and resulting in reduced performance. This may be due to spatial contention, multipath fading, interference or inefficient queuing mechanisms etc. Here we take queuing mechanisms into consideration and study the QMMN algorithm (Queue Management for Multi-hop Networks) which tends to improve throughput, fairness and reduce global synchronization problems. Based on our study, we implement a modified version of the QMMN algorithm, otherwise called the Enhanced QMMN (EQMMN) algorithm. EQMMN can be considered an effective algorithm which solves the problem of fairness between flows (either responsive or unresponsive) and eventually improves TCP throughput at wireless access points. Our experimental results prove that EQMMN algorithms have better performance characteristics such as throughput (TCP) and fairness index compared to QMMN algorithms.  相似文献

The paper deals with stress analysis, cyclic and creep life prediction of a cryogenic rocket engine thrust chamber, being used in one of the satellite launch vehicles of ISRO. The thrust chamber is of double walled construction wherein high conductivity copper alloy is used for the inner wall and stainless steel for the outer. Regenerative cooling of the chamber is achieved by passing the fuel through rectangular coolant passages milled on outer surface of the inner wall. The inner and outer walls are bonded together by brazing at high temperature. Failure of a double walled chamber occurs due to thinning of the inner wall and bulging into the chamber due to three mechanisms viz. (i) low cycle fatigue (ii) thermal ratchetting and (iii) creep. To capture the structural behaviour of the chamber in a complete sequence of operation of the engine, axisymmetric modeling and cyclic stress analysis is carried out using the ANSYS finite element analysis software package. High temperature mechanical properties, low cycle fatigue and creep properties of copper are characterised. Results of creep tests conducted at various temperatures are utilized for evaluating creep constants of Norton secondary creep model available in ANSYS. Analysis is performed in a seven load step sequence simulating one complete hot test of the engine. Life prediction is done using the cumulative damage accumulation methodology, considering the above three damage mechanisms. Allowable number of hot runs permissible is then arrived at after assigning suitable factors of safety for each damage mode.  相似文献
