DNA/lipid complex organogel with shape‐memory behavior

DNA and amphiphilic N,N,N‐trimethyl‐N‐hexadecylammonium bromide (THAB) were stoichiometrically mixed together to produce a DNA–lipid complex, which was dissolved in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) at 65°C and then crosslinked with isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI). The obtained organogel swelled reversibly in DMSO, responding to the variation of temperature. Interestingly, we observed that the gel exhibited a temperature‐dependent shape‐memory behavior. Above 65°C, whatever the shape the gel was deformed to, it could retain the new shape as the temperature was decreased to room temperature, while, when the gel was heated to 65°C again, it could recover its initial shape. The shape‐memory characteristic is supposedly originated from the transition between the close‐packed and the destroyed DNA/lipid conformation. The elastic urethane crosslinking bonds between base‐pair sites act as a fixing phase. The gel holds promise in its application as a gentle actuator. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 回火处理对高碳冷拔钢丝强度和塑性的影响

研究了６５钢冷拔钢丝在５００℃不同时间回火时的抗拉强度和延伸率的变化。试验结果发现，在回火初期，抗拉强度首先增长，然后随口火时间的延长连续降低，而延伸率始终在增长，增长速度是先快后慢。这种行为可归因于第一内应力的消除和ε－碳化物在形变铁素体中的析出以及后来再结晶的发生。     

Preparation and optical properties of CdxHg1-xTe doped silica glass

In this paper, the Cd_xHg_1-xTe (x=1-0.7) doped silica glass was prepared through two step sol-gel process and in-situ growth technique from tetraethoxysilane (TEOS), cadmium acetate, mercury acetate and telluric acid. The influence of various factors on the glass was studied. The structure of the microcrystals was investigated by XRD. The absorption and transmittance spectrum of the composite showed that the shift of absorption edge was in conformity with the quantum size effect. The third-order nonlinear optical susceptibility χ⁽³⁾ was measured by the degenerate four wave mixing (DFWM). The values of χ⁽³⁾ was in the range of 10^-11-10^-12 MO esu at wavelength of 1.06 μm.     

YAG：Ce Phosphors for WLED via Nano-Pesudoboehmite Sol-Gel Route

The sub-micron sized YAG ： Ce phosphors were synthesized via a modified sol-gel method by peptizing nano-pesudoboehmite particulate. It is found that YAG phase from the dried gel powders appears at 1000 ℃ then the pure YAG phase exists at a relatively lower sintering temperature of 1400 ℃. The smaller sizes of phosphors in the ranges of 1 - 3 μm are obtained due to the contribution of seeding effects of nano-sized alumina particles to strengthen each step of the processes. Both the excitation and emission spectra of photoluminescence of the phosphor obtained at 1400 ℃ meet well with the spectroscopic requirements of the WLED phosphors.
