Periodontal disease is an inflammatory disease caused by pathogenic oral microorganisms that leads to the destruction of alveolar bone and connective tissues around the teeth. Although many studies have shown that periodontal disease is a risk factor for systemic diseases, such as type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases, the relationship between nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and periodontal disease has not yet been clarified. Thus, the purpose of this review was to reveal the relationship between NAFLD and periodontal disease based on epidemiological studies, basic research, and immunology. Many cross-sectional and prospective epidemiological studies have indicated that periodontal disease is a risk factor for NAFLD. An in vivo animal model revealed that infection with periodontopathic bacteria accelerates the progression of NAFLD accompanied by enhanced steatosis. Moreover, the detection of periodontopathic bacteria in the liver may demonstrate that the bacteria have a direct impact on NAFLD. Furthermore, Porphyromonas gingivalis lipopolysaccharide induces inflammation and accumulation of intracellular lipids in hepatocytes. Th17 may be a key molecule for explaining the relationship between periodontal disease and NAFLD. In this review, we attempted to establish that oral health is essential for systemic health, especially in patients with NAFLD.  相似文献

The components of the volatile oils from the straws of Oryza sativa L. (Onshinomai, Asamurasaki, Hinohikari) were analyzed by capillary GC/GC-MS. The quantification of volatile compounds in the oils was made by the internal standard method, using palmitic acid as reference substance. Palmitic acid was the most abundant component in these samples, followed by hexahydrofarnesyl acetone and phytol.  相似文献

This article describes a method for the prediction of the reflected and the fluorescent spectral radiance factor which are expected to be measured by use of a measuring system with polarizing properties, and a method for the estimation of the spectrophotometric errors in the predicted radiance factors. Polarization properties are described for the measuring system, the white standard surface, and the two kinds of fluorescent samples used in the two-monochromator method of the present study. In this method, the spectrophotometric errors in the reflected spectral radiance factor are estimated to be not less than 1% at some wavelengths. However, the error of the fluorescent spectral radiance factor is relatively small. Colorimetric errors of fluorescent samples due to polarization are estimated for the one- and two-monochromator methods. The errors expressed as CIELUV color differences are estimated to be less than 1.0 unit and are negligibly small.  相似文献

One of the desired properties of distributed systems is self-adaptability against faults. Self-stabilizing protocols provide autonomous recovery from any finite number of transient faults. However, in practice, catastrophic faults rarely occur, while small-scale faults are more likely to occur. Fault-containing self-stabilizing protocols promise not only self-stabilization but also containment of the effect of small-scale faults, i.e., they promise quick recovery and small effect for small-scale faults. Hierarchical composition of self-stabilizing protocols is expected to ease the design of new self-stabilizing protocols. However, existing composition techniques for self-stabilizing protocols cannot preserve the fault-containment property of source protocols. In this paper, we propose a novel timer-based hierarchical composition of fault-containing self-stabilizing protocols that preserves the fault-containment property of source protocols. To implement timers, we propose a local neighborhood synchronizer that synchronizes limited number of processes during a short time after a fault without involving the entire network into the synchronization. The proposed composition technique facilitates the design of new fault-containing self-stabilizing protocols and enhances the reusability of existing fault-containing self-stabilizing protocols.  相似文献

Cell division is essential for the maintenance of life and involves chromosome segregation and subsequent cytokinesis. The processes are tightly regulated at both the spatial and temporal level by various genes, and failures in this regulation are associated with oncogenesis. Here, we investigated the gene responsible for defects in cell division by using murine temperature-sensitive (ts) mutant strains, tsFT101 and tsFT50 cells. The ts mutants normally grow in a low temperature environment (32 °C) but fail to divide in a high temperature environment (39 °C). Exome sequencing and over-expression analyses identified Diaph3, a member of the formin family, as the cause of the temperature sensitivity observed in tsFT101 and tsFT50 cells. Interestingly, Diaph3 knockout cells showed abnormality in cytokinesis at 39 °C, and the phenotype was rescued by re-expression of Diaph3 WT, but not Diaph1 and Diaph2, other members of the formin family. Furthermore, Diaph3 knockout cells cultured at 39 °C showed a significant increase in the level of acetylated α-tubulin, an index of stabilized microtubules, and the level was reduced by Diaph3 expression. These results suggest that Diaph3 is required for cytokinesis only under high temperature conditions. Therefore, our study provides a new insight into the mechanisms by which regulatory factors of cell division function in a temperature-dependent manner.  相似文献

This paper presents a design framework called Gameful Digital Rhetoric that offers a set of design frames for designing meaningful digital rhetoric that guides collective human behavior in ubiquitous social digital services, such as crowdsourcing. The framework is extracted from our experiences with building and developing crowdsourcing case studies. From a video game perspective, the paper has categorized our experiences into seven design frames to encourage collective human activity. This approach is different from traditional gamification, as it focuses more on the semiotic aspect of virtuality in the video games, not game mechanics; it helps to enhance the current meaning of the real world for changing human attitude and behavior through various socio-cultural and psychological techniques. Therefore, it is possible to discuss respective design frames for enhancing crowdsourcing by incrementally adding new digital rhetoric. The paper also presents how Gameful Digital Rhetoric allows us to guide collective human behavior in Collectivist Crowdsourcing; the design is explained through a scenario-based and experiment-based analyses. The paper then discusses how to design collective human behavior with Gameful Digital Rhetoric and how to identify the design’s potential pitfalls. Periodontal disease is a bacterial infection that destroys the gingiva and surrounding tissues of the oral cavity. In recent years, studies have shown a definite association between periodontal disease and other inflammatory conditions of the body. High-throughput analysis of proteins has become possible with the development of MS technology. This breakthrough in proteome technology enables comparative studies of comprehensive protein expression and identification of protein. In case of periodontal disease, proteome analysis using 2DE, as well as gel-free methods, has been reported. As a fluid lying in close proximity to periodontal tissue, the gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) is the principal target in the search for biomarkers of periodontal disease, because its protein composition may reflect the disease pathophysiology. Biochemical marker analysis of GCF is effective for objective diagnosis in the early and advanced stages of periodontal disease. Increasing numbers of recent reports have provided evidence that the proteomic approach is a promising tool for the discovery and identification of biochemical markers of periodontal disease. This search is of continuing interest in the field of experimental and clinical periodontal disease research. In this article, we summarize recent comprehensive proteomic studies aimed at discovering and identifying biomarkers of periodontal disease in GCF.  相似文献

Superabsorbent hydrogels were prepared via esterification crosslinking of cellulose with 1,2,3,4‐butanetetracarboxylic dianhydride (BTCA) in three solvent systems: lithium chloride (LiCl)/N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidinone (NMP), LiCl/N,N‐dimethylacetamide (DMAc), and tetrabutylammonium fluoride/dimethyl sulfoxide (TBAF/DMSO). The absorbency of the hydrogels was strongly dependent on the BTCA feed to cellulose ratio as well as the nature of the solvent system used. The rate of cellulose esterification was enhanced in TBAF/DMSO relative to the other systems, and the highest water absorbency of the hydrogels (987 g g?1 polymer) was also achieved using this system. The hydrogels obtained in the TBAF/DMSO system had a similar degree of both crosslinking and grafting, indicating that both reactions were promoted to the same extent in this solvent, whereas crosslinking was preferentially enhanced over grafting in the LiCl/NMP and LiCl/DMAc systems. The difference in the composition of the hydrogels was attributed to the difference in the electronegativity of the fluoride and chloride anions in these solvents. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J.
