Physical aging of both thick and thin films of “high free-volume” glassy perfluoropolymers was studied by monitoring changes in pure gas permeability of O2, N2 and CH4. All permeability measurements were done at a fixed temperature of 35 °C for more than 1000 h of aging. Two grades of perfluoropolymers, Teflon AF and Hyflon AD, having different comonomer structures but with similar comonomer ratios were studied to understand the effect of comonomer type and content on the aging behavior. The effect of casting process (solution vs. spin coating) and solvent type (vapor pressure and boiling point) had a significant effect on the absolute permeability of both thick and thin films; however, the aging rates were more affected by thickness and solvent type rather than the casting process for similar thicknesses. After 1000 h of aging, the relative permeability for thin films of Teflon AF 2400 was decreased by 27% compared to only 10% for thick films prepared from Novec 7500 solvent. Teflon AF, which has a higher fractional free volume (FFV) than Hyflon AD, is believed to undergo significant aging well before the initial permeability measurement could be made (after ∼ 1 h of aging) and, therefore, Teflon AF materials showed a lower decrease in relative permeability compared to Hyflon AD for the same aging time. The comonomer type and content has a significant effect on the permeability; the initial absolute oxygen permeability for AF 2400 was an order of magnitude higher compared to AD 60. The physical aging of thin films of the various glassy perfluoropolymers was also tracked by recording changes in the refractive index and thickness with time by ellipsometry. The ellipsometry data also confirmed higher aging rates in Hyflon AD compared to Teflon AF materials. The volumetric aging rate, obtained from the change in the refractive index using the Lorentz–Lorenz equation, and the permeability reduction rate from the (P1000h/P1h) ratio showed an excellent linear correlation. The (P1000h/P1h) ratio also showed a stronger correlation with (Tg−35) °C than with FFV.  相似文献

This work describes a collaborative effort to define and apply a protocol for the rational selection of a general‐purpose screening library, to be used by the screening platforms affiliated with the EU‐OPENSCREEN initiative. It is designed as a standard source of compounds for primary screening against novel biological targets, at the request of research partners. Given the general nature of the potential applications of this compound collection, the focus of the selection strategy lies on ensuring chemical stability, absence of reactive compounds, screening‐compliant physicochemical properties, loose compliance to drug‐likeness criteria (as drug design is a major, but not exclusive application), and maximal diversity/coverage of chemical space, aimed at providing hits for a wide spectrum of drugable targets. Finally, practical availability/cost issues cannot be avoided. The main goal of this publication is to inform potential future users of this library about its conception, sources, and characteristics. The outline of the selection procedure, notably of the filtering rules designed by a large committee of European medicinal chemists and chemoinformaticians, may be of general methodological interest for the screening/medicinal chemistry community. The selection task of 200K molecules out of a pre‐filtered set of 1.4M candidates was shared by five independent European research groups, each picking a subset of 40K compounds according to their own in‐house methodology and expertise. An in‐depth analysis of chemical space coverage of the library serves not only to characterize the collection, but also to compare the various chemoinformatics‐driven selection procedures of maximal diversity sets. Compound selections contributed by various participating groups were mapped onto general‐purpose self‐organizing maps (SOMs) built on the basis of marketed drugs and bioactive reference molecules. In this way, the occupancy of chemical space by the EU‐OPENSCREEN library could be directly compared with distributions of known bioactives of various classes. This mapping highlights the relevance of the selection and shows how the consensus reached by merging the five different 40K selections contributes to achieve this relevance. The approach also allows one to readily identify subsets of target‐ or target‐class‐oriented compounds from the EU‐OPENSCREEN library to suit the needs of the diverse range of potential users. The final EU‐OPENSCREEN library, assembled by merging five independent selections of 40K compounds from various expert groups, represents an excellent example of a Europe‐wide collaborative effort toward the common objective of building best‐in‐class European open screening platforms.  相似文献

Automated guided vehicles (AGVs) are the most flexible means to transport materials among workstations of a flexible manufacturing system. Complex issues associated with the design of AGV control of these systems are conflict-free shortest path, minimum time motion planning and deadlock avoidance. This research presents an intelligent agent-based framework to overcome the inefficacies associated with the aforementioned issues. Proposed approach describes the operational control of AGVs by integrating different activities such as path generation, journey time enumeration, collision and deadlock identification, waiting node location and its time estimation, and decision making on the selection of the conflict-free shortest feasible path. It represents efficient algorithms and rules associated with each agent for finding the conflict-free minimum time motion planning of AGVs, which are needed to navigate unidirectional and bidirectional flow path network. A collaborative architecture of AGV agent and its different modules are also presented. Three complex experimental scenarios are simulated to test the robustness of the proposed approach. It is shown that the proposed agent-based controller is capable of generating optimal, collision- and deadlock-free path with less computational efforts.  相似文献

Ferroelectric phase transition in (Ba,Ca)TiO3 ceramics has been investigated using dielectric measurements. It is shown that samples prepared using (Ba,Ca)CO3, precursors exhibit diffuse phase transition (DPT) while those prepared by the conventional route show BaTiO3-type sharp transition. The diffuseness of the phase transition is found to increase with increasing calcium content. The critical exponent for the dielectric stiffness (1/ε') departs significantly from the mean field value of unity and is shown to increase from 1.21 to 1.86 with increasing calcium content. Arguments are advanced to show that the DPT behavior in these ceramics is inexplicable in terms of either the internal stress model due to the absence of 90° domains in fine-grain ceramics or the compositional inhomogeneity model. It is proposed that DPT behavidr is intrinsic to the system and is intimately linked with the appearance of polar phase in the critical regime whose width is shown to increase with increasing Ca content.  相似文献

A method for surface treatment of carbon fabric with nano-particles of rare earth salt (ytterbium fluoride–YbF3) was tried first time in the authors’ laboratory to enhance the fiber–matrix interface, and has been reported here. In this article authors have reported on the performance evaluation of composites developed from the four fabrics treated with various doses viz. 0, 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% of YbF3. The abrasive wear performance of these composites was evaluated by abrading the composites against silicon carbide abrasive paper under varying loads. The treated fabric composites exhibited lower coefficient of friction and higher wear resistance as compared with untreated fabric composite. A linear correlation between ILSS (interlaminar shear strength) and wear resistance was observed. Both were the highest for 0.3% dosing of fabric. Since it was also desirable to compare the efficiency of this novel method of treatment of carbon fibers with conventional one, a few results of composites with plasma-treated carbon fabric were compared with the nano-particle-treated fabric composites. It was concluded that the latest method improved the abrasive wear resistance of composites almost two times more than the plasma-treated composites. Fiber–matrix interface was strengthened because of the treatment as observed from SEM studies, ILSS, and matrix pick-up studies. Increased roughness of fiber surface was observed in topographical analysis by SEM. Effect of treatment on fiber was also observed by adhesion test and fiber tow tension test. SEM studies of worn surfaces were performed to understand wear mechanisms.  相似文献

An integrated fiber optic Raman sensor was designed for real-time, nonintrusive detection of liquid nitrogen (LN(2)) in liquid oxygen (LO(2)) at high pressures and high flow rates. This was intended to monitor the quality of LO(2) in oxidizer feed lines during the ground testing of rocket engines. Various issues related to optical diagnosis of cryogenic fluids (LN(2)/LO(2)) in supercritical environment of rocket engine test facility, such as fluorescence from impurity in optical window of feed line, signal-noise ratio, and fast data acquisition time, etc., are well addressed. The integrated sensor employed a frequency doubled 532-nm continuous wave Nd:YAG laser as an excitation light source. The other optical components included were InPhotonics Raman probes, spectrometers, and photomultiplier tubes (PMTs). The spectrometer was used to collect the Raman spectrum of LN(2) and LO(2). The PMT detection unit was integrated with home-built LABVIEW software for fast monitoring of concentration ratios LN(2) and LO(2). Prior to designing an integrated sensor system, its optical components were also tested with gaseous nitrogen (GN(2)) and oxygen (GO(2)).  相似文献

Quality of an assembly of any manufactured product is mainly based on the quality of mating components. Due to random variations in sources such as materials, machines, operators, and measurements, mating components manufactured by even the same process may vary in their dimensions. When mating components are assembled linearly, the resulting assembly tolerance will be the sum of the mating components tolerances. All precision assemblies demand for a closer assembly tolerance. A significant amount of research has already been done to minimize assembly variation using selective assembly, when the dimensions of components follow normal distribution. However, in reality, the dimensions of components produced especially in smaller to medium size batches, invariably have some skewness (non-normality), which makes the methods developed and reported in the literature, often not suitable for practice. In this work, batch selective assembly methodology is proposed for components having non-normal distributions to minimize the assembly tolerance variations. The proposed method which employs a genetic algorithm for obtaining the best combination of mating components is able to achieve minimum variations in assembly tolerances and also maximum number of acceptable assemblies. The proposed algorithm is tested with a set of experimental problem datasets and is found outperforming the other existing methods found in the literature, in producing solutions with minimum assembly variation.  相似文献

In present communication, an attempt has been made to study the heat and mass transfer for crops namely wheat and gram. The removal of moisture from the crop was determined under simulated conditions and it was used to develop heat and mass transfer relation using linear as well as multiple regression analysis. The observations were recorded for relative humidity, temperature of crop and air and for moisture evaporated. Experimental error in terms of per cent uncertainty was calculated for recorded data which is in the range of 20 - 30 per cent for forced convection and natural cooling, respectively.  相似文献

2D graphene the most investigated structures from nanocarbon family studied in the last three decades. It is projected as an excellent material useful for quantum computing, artificial intelligence, and next generation advanced technologies. Graphene exists in several forms and its extraordinary thermal, mechanical, and electronic properties, principally depend on the kind of perfection of the hexagonal atomic lattice. Defects are always considered as undesired components but certain defects in graphene could be an asset for electrochemistry and quantum electronics due to the engineered electronclouds and quantum tunnelling. The authors carefully discuss the Stone-Wales imperfections in graphene and its derivatives comprehensively. A specific emphasis is focused on the experimental and theoretical aspects of the Stone-Wales defects in graphene with respect to structure-property relationships. The corroboration of extrinsic defects like external atomic doping, functionalization, edge distortion in the graphene consisting of Stone-Wales imperfections, which are very significant in designing graphene-based electronic devices, are summarized.  相似文献
