Stress corrosion cracking of GRP pultruded rods has been investigated in 0.0001 to 5.0 N hydrochloric acid environments under bending and tensile loading modes. Crack initiation takes place at exposed glass fibres in the surface of the rod, and crack propagation is planar and at right angles to the rod axis. Leaching of calcium and aluminium from the fibres takes place during the cracking process, and time-to-failure is dependent on the acid concentration, the stress level and the ease of access of the acid to the glass fibre surface. Possible mechanisms of crack propagation through the glass fibres and resin are discussed. 相似文献

Abstract— The crack initiation lives of peened specimens of aluminium alloys 7010 and 8090 are shorter than those of unpeened specimens. This is caused by the acceleration of crack initiation due to stress concentration in the rough peened surface, especially at fold-like defects. The crack growth rate in peened specimens is significantly reduced with increasing Δ K , i.e. with increasing crack length. At a crack length of approximately 0.3 mm this trend is reversed and the crack growth rate rapidly increases and attains the same level of crack growth rate as that in unpeened specimens. The point of smallest crack growth rate roughly corresponds to the point of maximum residual stress. The crack growth rate in a peened specimen has been modelled by assuming the effect of residual stress reduces to the equivalent stress ratio. The growth of fatigue cracks in compact tension specimens of rigid polyurethane foam has been studied at room temperature under conditions of constant load-amplitude cycling. The growth of the cracks at the frequencies employed (0.2 Hz) is found to be reasonably reproducible and the growth rate can be related to the cyclic stress intensity range in the conventional way. Though some software development teams are highly effective at delivering security, others either do not care or do not have access to security experts to teach them how. Unfortunately, these latter teams are still responsible for the security of the systems they build: systems that are ever more important to ever more people. We propose that a series of lightweight interventions, six hours of facilitated workshops delivered over three months, can improve a team's motivation to consider security and awareness of assurance techniques, changing its security culture even when no security experts are involved. The interventions were developed after an Appreciative Inquiry and Grounded Theory survey of security professionals to find out what approaches work best. We tested the interventions in a participatory action research field study where we delivered the workshops to three software development organizations and evaluated their effectiveness through interviews beforehand, immediately afterwards, and after twelve months. We found that the interventions can be effective with teams with limited or no security experience and that improvement is long-lasting. This approach and the learning points arising from the work here have the potential to be applied in many development teams, improving the security of software worldwide. 相似文献

The cumulative deposition of detergent residue on unsoiled cotton and polyester-cotton permanent press finish cloth was determined for a variety of detergent formulations after washing 25 consecutive times in 300 ppm hard water in a laboratory Tergotometer. Included in this study were: a phosphate-built laundry detergent, two carbonate-built detergents, tallow soap and various tallow soap formulations with anionic and amphoteric lime soap dispersing agents, and a glassy sodium silicate. Sample swatches washed with each formulation were analyzed for calcium, magnesium, and organic acid content. Fabric washed with the carbonate detergents showed the highest calcium and magnesium content, while those washed with the phosphate detergent and the soap-lime soap dispersant-builder formulations had the lowest. Fabric washed with soap alone had a much higher fatty acid residue than those washed with the other detergent formulations. However, the amount of organic acids left on the fabric after washing with a soap-lime soap dispersing agent formulation was no greater than that produced by phosphate- and carbonate-built detergents. The presence or absence of deposits also was verified visually with a scanning electron microscope. Each formulation also was tested for detergency by measuring the soil buildup in a multiwash procedure. Generally, the buildup of soil paralleled the deposit of detergent residue on the unsoiled cloths. 相似文献
