What treatments work for children who have posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD)? Perhaps more important, what else do clinicians need to learn? In this article, the authors focus on treatment research in the area of trauma and PTSD in youth, in an attempt to highlight the clinical implications of such work and to identify the areas in which additional research is needed. Overall, there is emerging evidence that a variety of cognitive and behavioral programs are effective in treating youth with PTSD. In spite of such evidence, additional research is needed to shore up the scientific base for effective clinical practice with these youth. Psychologists working with traumatized youth will find this article a useful update on the state of evidence for cognitive-behavioral interventions in the treatment of PTSD. It has recently been reported that secretin activates gene expression in the central nucleus of the amygdala in rats. To examine the neurophysiological effects of secretin on amygdalar activation in humans, the authors measured Blood Oxygen Level Dependent functional magnetic resonance imaging signal change during facial affect processing in a placebo-controlled double-blind study. The authors studied 12 healthy male subjects who were presented with three stimulus conditions: viewing happy, fearful, and neutral faces, before and after infusion with either secretin or placebo. To test whether treatment was associated with distinct patterns of activation, the two conditions (Pre and Post) were subjected to a subtraction analyses in SPM99 and hypotheses regarding the activation of the left and right amygdala were tested using a region-of-interest approach. Subtraction of treatment minus baseline activation during the fear condition yielded significant (p=.001) activation in the right amygdala and a nonsignificant increase in activation in the left amygdala. No significant differences were seen between the treatment conditions for the amygdala when viewing happy or neutral faces. These preliminary findings indicate that secretin may alter responsivity to affective stimuli. The presence of increased activation of the amygdala during the viewing of fearful faces is consistent with findings from animal studies and suggests a mechanism by which secretin may modulate social behavior. Macrolide‐pipecolate natural products, such as rapamycin ( 1 ) and FK‐506 ( 2 ), are renowned modulators of FK506‐binding proteins (FKBPs). The nocardiopsins, from Nocardiopsis sp. CMB‐M0232, are the newest members of this structural class. Here, the biosynthetic pathway for nocardiopsins A–D ( 4 – 7 ) is revealed by cloning, sequencing, and bioinformatic analyses of the nsn gene cluster. In vitro evaluation of recombinant NsnL revealed that this lysine cyclodeaminase catalyzes the conversion of L ‐lysine into the L ‐pipecolic acid incorporated into 4 and 5 . Bioinformatic analyses supported the conjecture that a linear nocardiopsin precursor is equipped with the hydroxy group required for macrolide closure in a previously unobserved manner by employing a P450 epoxidase (NsnF) and limonene epoxide hydrolase homologue (NsnG). The nsn cluster also encodes candidates for tetrahydrofuran group biosynthesis. The nocardiopsin pathway provides opportunities for engineering of FKBP‐binding metabolites and for probing new enzymology in nature's polyketide tailoring arsenal. 相似文献

Analyses examined whether information about the coping strategies used by family members adds to an understanding about the psychological well-being of individuals. Data from 140 women and their husbands and children who were living in multigenerational households that included a disabled older relative indicated that for the women and children, the best predictors of depression, positive affect, and mastery were their own coping strategies; the coping strategies used by other family members did not add significantly to the predictive equation. For husbands, however, depression was predicted by both their own coping strategies and the coping strategies of their wives. Husbands' positive affect was predicted only by the coping strategies of their wives and children, and their mastery was predicted by their own coping strategies and those of their wives and children. Malicious Portable Document Format (PDF) files represent one of the largest threats in the computer security space. Significant research has been done using handwritten signatures and machine learning based on detection via manual feature extraction. These approaches are time consuming, require substantial prior knowledge, and the list of features must be updated with each newly discovered vulnerability individually. In this study, we propose two models for PDF malware detection. The first model is a convolutional neural network (CNN) integrated into a standard deviation based regularization model to detect malicious PDF documents. The second model is a support vector machine (SVM) based ensemble model with three different kernels. The two models were trained and tested on two different datasets. The experimental results show that the accuracy of both models is approximately 100%, and the robustness against evasive samples is excellent. Further, the robustness of the models was evaluated with malicious PDF documents generated using Mimicus. Both models can distinguish the different vulnerabilities exploited in malicious files and achieve excellent performance in terms of generalization ability, accuracy, and robustness. 相似文献

This research assesses the implications of existing trends on future network investment, comparing alternative scenarios concerning budgets and investment rules. The main scenarios compare ??stated decision rules??, processes encoded in flowcharts and weights developed from official documents or by discussion with agency staff, with ??revealed decision rules??, weights estimated statistically based on observed historical behavior. This research specifies the processes necessary to run the network forecasting models with various decision rules. We find that given the relatively small amount of funds available for network growth in a mature system, alternative decision rules make only small differences in overall system performance, though they direct investments to very different locations and affect the trip time and spatial accessibility in a significantly different way. 相似文献

Female assault survivors (N = 171) with chronic posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) were randomly assigned to prolonged exposure (PE) alone, PE plus cognitive restructuring (PE/CR), or wait-list (WL). Treatment, which consisted of 9-12 sessions, was conducted at an academic treatment center or at a community clinic for rape survivors. Evaluations were conducted before and after therapy and at 3-, 6-, and 12-month follow-ups. Both treatments reduced PTSD and depression in intent-to-treat and completer samples compared with the WL condition; social functioning improved in the completer sample. The addition of CR did not enhance treatment outcome. No site differences were found: Treatment in the hands of counselors with minimal cognitive- behavioral therapy (CBT) experience was as efficacious as that of CBT experts. Recent research on the development and application of process analytical technology (PAT) for cheese manufacture is reviewed in this article. PAT is a framework for innovative process manufacturing and quality assurance, which has been widely investigated for dairy processing applications, where particular processing challenges arise due to the variations in the physiochemical properties of milk. Cheese manufacturers are increasingly considering the adoption of a PAT approach to facilitate manufacture of cheese with enhanced product quality, safety and process efficiency. However, to date adoption of PAT in the dairy industry has been limited due to challenges associated with development and validation of calibration models, instrument variability, sanitary design and compatibility with processing environments. New technical developments in PAT tools, advances in chemometric modelling, robust data management tools and improved understanding of critical product and process parameters will facilitate further adoption of a PAT approach in cheese manufacture. 相似文献
