Feed-forward neural networks that models the hydrocracking process of Arabian light vacuum gas oil are presented. The input-output data to the neural networks was obtained from actual local refineries. Several network architectures were tried and the networks that best simulate the hydrocracking process were retained. The networks are able to predict yields and properties of products of the hydrocracking unit (e.g. iC4, nC4, light and heavy naphtha, light and heavy ATK, Diesel, etc.). The predictions of yields and properties of various desired and undesired products at different conditions are required by refineries for process optimization, control, design, catalyst selection, and planning. The predictions of the prepared neural networks have been cross validated against data not originally used in the training process. The networks compared well against this new set of data with an average percent error always less than 8.71 for the different products of the hydrocracking unit. 相似文献

A series of attempts have been made to detect the presence of superconductivity in semiconducting potassium tantalate (KTaO3) single crystals. Semiconducting potassium tantalate has a number of properties in common with semiconducting SrTiO3, which is superconducting below 0.3 K, with a critical temperatureT
c that varies as a function of the carrier concentration. Both KTaO3 and SrTiO3 are perovskite-structure oxides and both materials are so-called incipient ferroelectrics that are characterized by high dielectric constants at low temperature. These common properties suggest that superconductivity might also be observed in semiconducting potassium tantalate. In the temperature ange from 0.01 to 4.0 K, however, no evidence was found for superconductivity in KTaO3 in the presence of magnetic fields of 10–5–10–4 T (i.e., 0.1–1 Oe). Below 1.5 K, the search for superconductivity in KTaO3 was carried out using a3He-4He dilution refrigerator equipped with a SQUID magnetometer and an ac magnetometer. The system response was verified by measuring the paramagnetic susceptibility of Dy2O3-doped KTaO3. The failure to observe superconductivity in KTaO3, while SrTiO3 is an established superconducting material, may be related to the fact that the latter substance assumes a tetragonal symmetry phase at 105 K, while KTaO3 remains cubic to low temperatures.Operated by Union Carbide Corporation for the U.S. Department of Energy under contract w-7405-eng-26. 相似文献

Although the amount and complexity of equipment and supplies used in the practice of anesthesia have sharply increased in the past decade, the role of technical support personnel dealing with this technology has not been assessed. In an effort to determine that role, a questionnaire survey was conducted of the apportionment, direction, duties, and training of anesthesia technicians in teaching departments. Two-thirds of the inquiries were returned, disclosing a typical allocation of three anesthetizing locations (or 2000 annual anesthetics) per technician. A large majority of these departments have direct control of their technicians. Virtually all of these personnel are responsible for the routine upkeep and setup of anesthesia machines and monitors, although about one-third perform more specialized clinical functions. The preparation of these technicians for their duties varies widely, with almost 60% high school graduates and virtually all reporting training as on-the-job. The authors conclude that the term "anesthesia technician" remains poorly defined and unstandardized, and that current diverse efforts to address this issue deserve attention. 相似文献

An important application of machine vision systems is the recognition of known three-dimensional objects. A major difficulty arises when two or more objects project the same or similar two-dimensional image, often resulting in misclassification and degradation of system performance. The changes in images which result from the motion of objects provide a source of three-dimensional information which can greatly aid the classification process, but this three-dimensional analysis is computationally complex and subject to many sources of error. This work develops a methodology which utilizes the information derived from the apparent changes in object features over time to facilitate the recognition task, without the need to actually recover the three-dimensional structure of the objects under view. The basic approach is to generate a ``feature signature' by combining the feature measurements of the individual regions in a long sequence of images. The static information in the individual frames is analyzed along with the temporal information from the entire sequence. These techniques are particularly applicable in situations where static image processing methods cannot discriminate between ambiguous objects. Previous investigations of the replacement of silicon by aluminium and nitrogen by oxygen in -silicon nitride have been based primarily on X-ray powder diffraction studies. In the present work this technique is coupled with parallel infra-red studies. X-ray analyses of sialons over a wide composition range confirm previous observations that increasing substitution of aluminium for silicon and nitrogen for oxygen in -silicon nitride is accompanied by an increase in cell size, with no evidence of any other structural modification. Parallel infra-red analyses show shifts in certain of the infra-red absorption bands to lower wavenumbers as the degree of substitution increases. Changes in the infrared spectra at the composition Si2Al4N4O4 indicate structural modifications which are not apparent from the X-ray investigations. It is suggested that these changes are a result of the ordering of the different atom types at this composition. 相似文献

In comparing emissions of the inorganic Eu3+ salts (chloride or nitrate) to organoeuropium complexes doped into optically transparent sol-gel glass, previous studies have indicated that changes in the local chemical environment by chelation or variation of the ligand or gel matrix compositions were found to leave the main spectral features of Eu3+ essentially unchanged; complexation just increases the emission intensity of europium and leads to broadening and splitting of the peaks. In all cases studied and irrespective of the excitation energy, the observable emission peaks result only from relaxations out of the 5D0 excited state of Eu3+ to the first five levels of the 7F ground manifold. The present research examines the luminescence behavior of EuCl3 and Eu-TETA (TETA is the macro cycle, 1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane-1,4,8,11-tetraaceticacid) doped into a sol-gel host; in addition to emissions from the 5D0, emission from the 5D1 excited state of Eu3+ is observed for the first time. 相似文献

Time of concentration (Tc) is the time required for runoff to travel from the hydraulically most distant point to the outlet of a watershed. The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) velocity method commonly is used to estimate Tc for hydrologic analysis and design. The NRCS velocity method applies the physical concept that travel time is a function of runoff flow length and flow velocity. Time of concentration for 96 Texas watersheds is independently estimated by three research teams using the NRCS velocity method. Drainage areas of the 96 watersheds considered in the study are approximately 0.8–440.3?km2 (0.3–170?mi2). Digital elevation models having a grid size of 30?m were used to derive watershed physical characteristics using ArcGIS or HEC-GeoHMS. Average channel width was estimated from 1?m or 1?ft digital orthoimagery quarter quadrangle or aerial photography. Each team made independent decisions to estimate parameters needed for different flow segments for the NRCS velocity method. Estimates of time of concentration made by three research teams are compared, and both graphic comparison and statistical summary demonstrate that time of concentration estimated using the NRCS velocity method is subject to large variation, dependent on the analyst-derived parameters used to estimate flow velocity. Because of the propensity for different analysts to arrive at different results, caution is required in application of the NRCS velocity method to estimate Tc. 相似文献

We report on the measurement of second-harmonic signals from hyperplastic parenchyma and stroma in malignant human prostate tissue under femtosecond pulsed illumination in the wavelength range from 730 to 870 nm. In particular, the relationship of the second-harmonic generation to the excitation wavelength is measured. The result in these two regions behaves considerably differently and thus provides a possible indicator for identifying tissue components and malignancy. 相似文献

Muscle is a highly heterogeneous tissue. Practical approaches to sample selectively small regions of muscle cross sections would help to effectively utilize analytical techniques on muscle studies while taking into account tissue heterogeneity. In this report, semimembranosus muscle tissue cross sections were directly sampled and analyzed by capillary electrophoresis (CE) with laser-induced fluorescence detection (LIF). Prior to CE-LIF analysis, a small region in the muscle cross section was stained with 10-nonyl acridine orange (NAO) which is a mitochondrion-selective fluorescent probe known to form a stable complex with cardiolipin, a phospholipid found only in mitochondria. By micromanipulation, the injection end of the capillary was brought into contact with the tissue exhibiting fluorescently labeled mitochondria. Sampling from a region similar in size to the cross section of a single fiber was carried out by applying 11 kPa of negative pressure for 3 s. When an electric field of -200V/cm was applied, fluorescently labeled mitochondria electromigrated and were individually detected by postcolumn LIF detection. For each sample, the electropherogram displays a migration time window with a collection of narrow peaks. The collection of individual peak measurements is represented as a distribution of individual intensities related to cardiolipin content of mitochondria and a distribution of individual electrophoretic mobilities. Positioning the capillary injection end was sufficiently spatially accurate to deplete mitochondria in the sampled region upon repetitive injections. Treatment of a muscle cross section with a protease (trypsin) prior to mitochondria sampling resulted in a higher number of detected mitochondria, suggesting that one of the effects of this enzyme is a partial digestion of the muscles myofibrils, which eases the release of interfibrillar mitochondria entangled within these fibers. The protease treatment also resulted in changes to the electrophoretic mobility distribution of individual mitochondria, which may imply that partial digestion of proteins bound to the mitochondria contributes to the alteration in the electrophoretic mobility of mitochondria. The ability to sample a region as small as a single muscle fiber cross section and its direct CE-LIF analysis opens exciting possibilities for the direct analysis of muscle biopsies and mapping the mitochondrial electrophoretic properties in highly heterogeneous tissues. 相似文献
