The products of minor histocompatibility (H) loci are serious barriers to tissue transplantation even among major histocompatibility complex (MHC) identical individuals, frequently causing chronic graft rejection and graft versus host disease. Over 50 minor H loci map to mouse autosomal chromosomes but none are known at the molecular level. By expression cloning, we identified the H13 locus, a classical minor H locus first detected 30 years ago by the trait of graft rejection. The H13a allele is located on chromosome 2 and encodes a novel protein that yields the rare naturally processed nonapeptide SSVVGVWYL (SVL9) for presentation by the Db MHC class I molecule. The SVL9 peptide binds Db MHC despite the absence of the consensus binding motif, and a conservative methyl group substitution (Valine 4 <--> Isoleucine) explains why reciprocal T cell responses are elicited in H13a and H13b congenic strains.  相似文献

The case is described of a 58 year old man with systemic Whipple's disease with pericardial and pleural effusions and severe pulmonary hypertension. After three months of antibiotic treatment there was a complete resolution, not only of the symptoms known to be associated with Whipple's disease (diarrhoea, arthralgia, pericardial and pleural effusions), but also of pulmonary hypertension.  相似文献

Because hypercellularity is an important feature in acute serum sickness (AcSS), we quantified glomerular proliferation with immunoperoxidase staining using anti-proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA Mab) and studied its relationship with lymphocyte infiltration (M108 Mab). AcSS was induced in 31 New Zealand White rabbits; group A (n = 14), with proteinuria, sacrificed 6-8 days after immunization; group B (n = 10), without proteinuria, sacrificed 6-7 days after immunization; group C (n = 7), sacrificed prior to development of AcSS. Four normal rabbits were included as controls. Intraglomerular proliferation (PCNA-positive cells/glomerular cross section) was increased in group A (12.2 +/- SEM, 1.84) but not in groups B (0.93 +/- 0.17) and C (0.37 +/- 0.05), which were similar to controls (0.66 +/- 0.06). Lymphocyte infiltration (lymphs/glomerular cross section) increased with time and was more prominent in rabbits with proteinuria (1.9 +/- 0.21, P < 0.001 vs controls). Lymphocyte infiltration was correlated with proliferative activity (Spearman correlation, r = 0.67, P < 0.0001). There was correlation between the severity of glomerular deposition of IgG and C3 and glomerular proliferation and proteinuria. These studies demonstrate a chronological association between lymphocyte infiltration and proliferative activity in AcSS.  相似文献

An optimal design for the RLSA (radial line slot array) antenna useful for DBS reception is presented. Classical geometries and structures given in the literature are first used. It is found that in some cases these are not suitable. So, optimization techniques by using the right objective functions have been applied. Two different methods were developed and three antennas were designed. Numerical results and comparisons with other similar antennas give the advantages of our design  相似文献

Five different types of cold protective footwear have been tested with regard to their resistance to dry heat loss (i.e. the insulation) with a new electrically heated foot model. The model is able to simulate 'walking' movements in order to provide a more realistic simulation of wear conditions. Thermal insulation of shoes with and without a steel toe cap was the same. The insulating properties during simulated walking movements were 10-25% lower compared with static conditions. For two of the shoe models a significantly lower insulation value for the sole area was obtained when adding a weight of 30 kg. A significant difference could also be found between the insulation values of two different sizes of one of the models. Measurements with the standard method (EN 344) correlated well with the local insulation value of the sole part of the thermal foot. Correlation with the insulation value for the whole shoe was much less, variation was bigger and ranking in terms of cold protection differed between methods. The electrically heated foot model appears to provide a reproducible, accurate and more realistic method for measuring the insulation properties of shoes than EN 344.  相似文献

The authors present the basic philosophy, construction, design features, and test results of a new fault locating system. This fault locating system helps to shorten the time required for restoration of service after the occurrence of a busbar fault in an air-insulated distribution substation. Recent optical and electronic technologies allow the design of a highly accurate and compact fault locating system which consists of optical current detectors using the Faraday effect and a fault locating processor using a digital data processing technique. The fault location is carried out by discriminating between the directions of zero-sequence currents. A fault section detection system that uses optical magnetic field sensors and instantly detects the section in which a ground fault occurred was developed for 66 kV underground multiterminal systems having Y-branch joint boxes. The optical magnetic field sensor, which is based on the Faraday effect in Bi-doped YIG ((BiYbGd)3Fe5O12) having a large Verdet constant, detects cable conductor currents of 0 to 2000 A with high precision with the use of a laminated magnetic ring core of silicon steel plates. Sensors and a fault section detector/indicator of a system are connected with optical fibers capable of nonrepeated transmission of over 6 km  相似文献
