This special issue of IEEE Micro brings readers the latest advances in the field of on-chip interconnects for multicores. The guest editors specifically selected articles to focus on novel on-chip networks realized on actual silicon--partly to showcase a few silicon prototypes of on-chip networks being used in multicore processors and SoCs; partly to bring to attention the implementation issues facing architects and designers. Along with six articles that gather insights from the designers of actual on-chip interconnects for multicores, the special issue includes two articles that delve into the design infrastructure support for on-chip networks and an article that summarizes the grand research challenges for realizing next-generation on-chip networks and multicores.  相似文献

Model checking is a well known technique for the verification of finite state models using temporal logic specification. While model checking is suitable for transformational systems (also called closed systems), it is unsuitable for open systems (also known as reactive systems) where the nondeterminism in the environment must be considered during verification. Module checking is an approach for the verification of open systems which have both closed (internal) and open (environment or external) states. It has been demonstrated in [Orna Kupferman, Moshe Y. Vardi, and Pierre Wolper. Module checking. Information and Computation, 164:322–344, 2001] that the complexity of module checking branching time logic CTL is EXPTIME-complete. The approach to module checking is global and the method tries to establish that the property in question holds over all possible environments.This papers develops a local approach to CTL module checking using tableau rules. The proposed approach tries to determine a single environment under which the negation of the property is satisfied over the given module. Such a strategy, thus, leads to a local approach to module checking where we only explore states that are relevant to proving that the negation of the property can be satisfied over the given module using an appropriate witness (environment) that the algorithm also generates. While the worst case complexity of our algorithm is identical to the earlier complexity, we demonstrate that practical implementation of the proposed approach is feasible and yields much better results than the global approach.  相似文献

Positron emission tomography (PET) and single-photon emission computed tomography have revolutionized the field of medicine and biology. Penalized iterative algorithms based on maximum a posteriori (MAP) estimation eliminate noisy artifacts by utilizing available prior information in the reconstruction process but often result in a blurring effect. MAP-based algorithms fail to determine the density class in the reconstructed image and hence penalize the pixels irrespective of the density class. Reconstruction with better edge information is often difficult because prior knowledge is not taken into account. The recently introduced median-root-prior (MRP)-based algorithm preserves the edges, but a steplike streaking effect is observed in the reconstructed image, which is undesirable. A fuzzy approach is proposed for modeling the nature of interpixel interaction in order to build an artifact-free edge-preserving reconstruction. The proposed algorithm consists of two elementary steps: (1) edge detection, in which fuzzy-rule-based derivatives are used for the detection of edges in the nearest neighborhood window (which is equivalent to recognizing nearby density classes), and (2) fuzzy smoothing, in which penalization is performed only for those pixels for which no edge is detected in the nearest neighborhood. Both of these operations are carried out iteratively until the image converges. Analysis shows that the proposed fuzzy-rule-based reconstruction algorithm is capable of producing qualitatively better reconstructed images than those reconstructed by MAP and MR P algorithms. The reconstructed images a resharper, with small features being better resolved owing to the nature of the fuzzy potential function.  相似文献

We theoretically demonstrate beam shaping through adaptive feedback in an acousto-optic device with electrical feedback by using experimentally determined parameters. Cases of positive feedback and negative feedback from undiffracted and diffracted orders are investigated. In addition, we demonstrate the dependence of the final value of the induced grating strength in the acousto-optic cell on the feedback parameters.  相似文献

Celecoxib, a specific COX-2 inhibitor, was recently approved for the treatment of rheumatoid and osteoarthritis, acute pain, familial adenomatous polyposis and primary dysmenorrhea. Oral administration of celecoxib is effective against ultraviolet B radiation (UVB)-induced skin carcinogenesis; however, its clinical use is restricted because of its failure to block the characteristic cutaneous inflammatory response and lower availability at the site of inflammation. Topical application of celecoxib has been effective compared with oral in certain clinical conditions. The present study was undertaken to develop and investigate the development of microemulsion system (isopropyl myristate/medium-chain glyceride/polysorbate 80/water) for topical delivery of celecoxib. The pseudoternary phase diagram was constructed with constant surfactant concentration, and several compositions were identified and characterized by using dynamic light scattering. The in vitro permeation rate of celecoxib through rat skin was determined for microemulsions, microemulsion gel, and cream by using the modified Franz-type diffusion cell. In all formulations tested, celecoxib permeated more quickly, and the microemulsions increased the permeation rate of celecoxib up to 5 and 11 times compared with those of microemulsion gel and cream, respectively. Increasing the concentration of medium-chain mono-/di-glyceride in microemulsion imparted increased droplet size and viscosity and decreased diffusion coefficient. In vivo anti-inflammatory study suggested that the developed microemulsion formulations might serve as potential drug vehicle for the prevention of UVB-induced skin cancer.  相似文献

The biological transformation of nitrogen oxyanions is widespread in nature and gives rise to a robust biogeochemical cycle. The first step in nitrate reduction is carried out by the enzyme nitrate reductase (NR). Although NR always catalyzes the same chemical reaction (conversion of nitrate into nitrite), its location in the cell, structure, and function are organism-dependent. We use protein sequence data to determine phylogenetic relationships and to examine similarities in structure and function. Three distinct clades of NR are apparent: the eukaryotic assimilatory NR (Euk-NR) clade, the membrane-associated prokaryotic NR (Nar) clade, and a clade that includes both the periplasmic NR (Nap) and prokaryotic assimilatory NR (Nas). The high degree of sequence similarity and a phylogenetic distribution that follows taxonomic classification suggest a monophyletic origin for the Euk-NR early on in the evolution of eukaryotic cells. In contrast, sequence conservation, phylogenetic analysis, and physiology suggest that both Nar and Nap were acquired by horizontal gene transfer. Nap and Nas share a lesser degree of similarity, with Nap a subclade of Nas. Nap from strict anaerobic bacteria such as Desulfovibrio desulfuricans is ancestral to facultative species and may provide an evolutionary link between Nap and Nas. We observed conserved binding sites for molybdenum and pterin cofactors in all four proteins. In pathways involving Euk-NR, Nas, and Nar, for which ammonia is the end product, nitrite is reduced to ammonia by a siroheme nitrite reductase. Nap, however, is coupled to a pentaheme nitrite reductase. In denitrification, whether Nar or Nap is involved, nitrite is reduced to nitric oxide by either a cytochrome cd1 or a copper-containing nitrite reductase. This complexity underscores the importance of nitrate reduction as a key biological process.  相似文献

The present study concerns study of the Bulk and nano‐mechanical properties of Ag‐CNT vis‐à‐vis Ag reinforced polymer composites. The Ag‐CNT hybrid powder blend was prepared by mechanical milling. Variation of the bulk and nano‐mechanical properties has been attributed to the morphological features and the degree of dispersion of the fillers. It has been found that dispersion of Ag‐CNT hybrid particle is beneficial for improvement of both the mechanical properties. POLYM. Enhancing the Performance of Video Streaming in Wireless Mesh Networks   总被引:1,自引:1,他引:0  
Multihop wireless mesh networks (WMNs) provide ubiquitous wireless access in a large area with less dependence on wired networks. However, some emerging applications with high bandwidth requirement and delay and loss constraints, such as video streaming, suffer poor performance in WMNs, since high compression rates and/or high packet loss rates deteriorate the video quality. In this paper, we propose a novel mechanism composed of (1) a network route selection scheme which provides paths for multiple video streams with the least interference, called Minimum Interference Route Selection (MIROSE) and (2) an optimization algorithm that determines the compression rates depending on the network condition, called Network State Dependent Video Compression Rate (NSDVCR) algorithm. Simulation results of the proposed mechanisms show the significant improvement of the video quality measured with a popular metric, Peak-Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR), compared with standard routing and default compression rates.  相似文献
