Let P be a set of n colored points distributed arbitrarily in R2. The chromatic distribution of the k-nearest neighbors of a query line segment ? is to report the number of points of each color among the k-nearest points of the query line segment. While solving this problem, we have encountered another interesting problem, namely the semicircular range counting query. Here a set of n points is given. The objective is to report the number of points inside a given semicircular range. We propose a simple algorithm for this problem with preprocessing time and space complexity O(n3), and the query time complexity O(logn). Finally, we propose the algorithm for reporting the chromatic distribution of k nearest neighbors of a query line segment. Using our proposed technique for semicircular range counting query, it runs in O(log2n) time.  相似文献

In this paper, an image processing technique is introduced to measure the grain size and their distributions from the SEM image of copper oxide (CuO) and titanium dioxide (TiO2) doped sintered alumina ceramics accurately. The noise present in SEM image is removed by applying low pass Gaussian filter followed by suppression of regional minima over a threshold. The clarity of individual grains and grain boundaries have been done by applying Watershed transform to this preprocessed SEM image. Morphological operations like dilation and erosion are used to make the grain-boundary edges clear and continuous. The individual grain size in µm scale is measured from the pixel length of the rectangular bounding box drawn around the segmented grain. The normal Gaussian type distribution of grain size is observed in both CuO- and TiO2-doped grains in SEM image. The average grain size of CuO-doped alumina grains (2.24 µm) is very close to G50 value (2.17 µm), but G50 value of TiO2-doped grains (8.59 µm) is slightly higher than its average grain size (7.96 µm). The proposed algorithm is compared with linear intercept method and the grain sizes obtained are very close to each other.  相似文献

We propose two‐photon excitation‐based light‐sheet technique for nano‐lithography. The system consists of 2 ‐configured cylindrical lens system with a common geometrical focus. Upon superposition, the phase‐matched counter‐propagating light‐sheets result in the generation of identical and equi spaced nano‐bump pattern. Study shows a feature size of as small as few tens of nanometers with a inter‐bump distance of few hundred nanometers. This technique overcomes some of the limitations of existing nano‐lithography techniques, thereby, may pave the way for mass‐production of nano‐structures. This paper described and analyzed the characteristics of Keller SYMplus CNC software in NC programming and simulation from four aspects, model design, rapid manufacturing, machining simulation and post processing. A comparative assessment of AlGaN/GaN high-electron-mobility transistors (HEMTs) grown by molecular beam epitaxy on silicon and sapphire substrates has been carried out. Large-area power GaN HEMTs with identical device dimensions were fabricated on both substrates. A thicker AlN buffer layer was used for the GaN HEMT on silicon to achieve similar quality and uniformity of GaN epitaxy for rational comparison with that grown on sapphire. Direct-current analysis and physical characterization were carried out to understand the performance of the devices. Mathematical measurement of the instability of the current–voltage (IV) characteristic at high applied drain bias was carried out to evaluate the performance of both devices. An improved two-dimensional (2D) analysis of the IV characteristic was performed from a thermal perspective including appropriate scattering effects on the 2D electron gas mobility. The experimental and analytical studies were correlated to reveal the effects of temperature-sensitive scattering phenomena on the mobility as well as on the IV characteristic at high drain bias in terms of lattice thermal heating. It is observed that the HEMT on Si has improved stability compared with sapphire due to its weaker scattering phenomena at high drain bias, associated with its thermal conductivity. Simulation of 2D thermal mapping was also carried out to distinguish the hot-spot regions of the devices. The comparable electrical performance of these devices illustrates the viability of AlGaN/GaN HEMTs on Si(111) to achieve low-cost stable devices with better thermal power handling for high-voltage applications.  相似文献

We present different mechanisms for downstream transmissions in the coax segment of Ethernet Passive Optical Network (EPON) Protocol over Coax (EPoC). EPoC is the transparent extension of EPON over a cable operator’s Hybrid Fiber-Coax network. For managing and controlling such a hybrid network, a network operator prefers to have a unified scheduling, management, and quality of service environment that includes both the optical and coax portions of the network. In EPoC, this is achieved by extending the EPON Medium Access Control to run over the coax physical layer, to have a centralized end-to-end network control from the cable head-end to the end users premises. In this paper, we focus on the downstream transmissions in EPoC. We study three different framing approaches for downstream coax frames based on how sub-carriers in an orthogonal frequency division multiplexed symbol are modulated. We discuss the merits and demerits of each approach and then compare them based on their control overheads and the maximum average data transmission rates each of them can achieve. We analyze how different parameters such as modulation profile, symbol duration, number of sub-carriers and length of resource blocks affect the data rates and the performance of downstream transmissions. We present simulation results to examine the implications of these factors on packet-level performance, such as delay. The results indicate that dynamic and hybrid framing approaches tend to perform better than static approaches, when traffic and usage pattern are identical to those in real-world scenarios. Finally, we outline the important engineering and research problems in this area which can be topics of future research.  相似文献

Using the stress jump boundary condition for the tangential stresses at the porous liquid interface along with the continuity of the velocity components and normal stress, the uniform viscous flow past a porous spherical shell with external radius r1, internal radius r2 is studied. The flow inside the porous region is governed by Brinkman equation. The flow in the liquid region is governed by the Stokes equation. The flow field is computed by matching the boundary conditions at the porous-fluid interface. The effect of stress jump coefficient β on the flow field is very much felt. An increase in the drag with permeability is found for different R, different ratio of r1/r2, and also a change in magnitude of the drag for different values of stress jump coefficient β is observed. Also, the variation of torque and shear stress with permeability and the stress jump coefficient is discussed.  相似文献
