The phase-amplitude coupling factor (α-factor) is one of the fundamental parameters of semiconductor lasers. We show that this factor can be evaluated by time-resolved spectroscopic measurements in pulsed regime. Experiments are carried out with injectionseeded single-mode GaAs lasers whose active stripe includes regions of saturable absorption made by ion implantation. We show that the measured pulse downchirp is proportional to pulse energy. The downchirp amplitude is found to approach four laser cavity intermode spacings at the highest energies. Correspondingly, the ±-values can be five times higher than those reported to date in litterature. High a-values are confirmed in pulse compression experiments. Several mechanisms are proposed to interprete these new results.  相似文献

We study experimentally and theoretically two polarization effects in a vertical cavity surface emitting laser submitted to optical feedback. In a first experiment, we obtain flips between two linearly polarized laser modes up to a frequency of 50 MHz using an external cavity with a polarizer. In a second experiment, polarization self modulation is demonstrated up to a frequency of 2.6 GHz, using a quarter wave plate instead. Numerical calculations, based on a four levels model for the active medium, show a good agreement with the experiments.  相似文献

This paper presents a study of models for audiovisual (AV) fusion in a noisy-vowel recognition task. We progressively elaborate audiovisual models in order to respect the major principle demonstrated by human subjects in speech perception experiments (the synergy principle): audiovisual identification should always be more efficient than auditory-alone or visual-alone identification. We first recall that the efficiency of audiovisual speech recognition systems depends on the level at which they fuse sound and image: four AV architectures are presented, and two are selected for the following of the study. Secondly, we show the importance of providing a contextual input linked to the Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) in the fusion process. Then we propose an original approach using an efficient nonlinear dimension reduction algorithm (curvilinear components analysis) in order to increase the performances of the two AV architectures. Furthermore, we show that this approach allows an easy and efficient estimation of the reliability of the audio sensor in relation to SNR, that this estimation can be used to control the AV fusion process, and that it significantly improves the AV performances. Hence, altogether, nonlinear dimension reduction, context estimation and control of the fusion process enable us to respect the synergy criterion for the two most used architectures.  相似文献

利用精确的红外大气辐射传输计算模型KCARTA,模拟计算了光谱分辨率、通道光谱响应函数、光谱定标精度、大气倾斜路径和表面发射率对高光谱观测亮温的影响.正演计算的结果表明:1)提高光谱分辨率明显增加了可探测的大气亮温;2)各种内、外部因素的变化对高光谱仪器将产生远较低光谱仪器更大的观测亮温差.本研究可为我国高光谱大气探测仪器的设计以及高光谱大气探测反演算法研究的开展提供科学的参考依据.  相似文献

We are presenting a fast new method of analysing a dielectric interface which is assumed to be cylindrically symmetrical. It is based on a multimode Gaussian beam development. Then two different cases are considered and we show the kind of results we can expect from this process. This paper presents a new massively parallel MIMD architecture, halfway between the Connection Machine and hypercubes based on 32-bit processors. It is built from specific 8-bit processors arranged in a 2-D grid and communicating by message transfers. We discuss the communication problems, the instruction set of the basic processing unit, the programmation of the whole array and the use of a high level data-flow language.  相似文献

Starting three weeks before mating, 12 groups of female rats were fed different amounts of linoleic acid (18∶2n−6). Their male pups were killed when 21-days-old. Varying the dietary 18∶2n−6 content between 150 and 6200 mg/100 g food intake had the following results. Linoleic acid levels remained very low in brain, myelin, synaptosomes, and retina. In contrast, 18∶2n−6 levels increased in sciatic nerve. In heart, linoleic acid levels were high, but were not related to dietary linoleic acid intake. Levels of 18∶2n−6 were significantly increased in liver, lung, kidney, and testicle and were even higher in muscle and adipose tissue. On the other hand, in heart a constant amount of 18∶2n−6 was found at a low level of dietary 18∶2n−6. Constant levels of arachidonic acid (20∶4n−6) were reached at 150 mg/100 g diet in all nerve structures, and at 300 mg/100g diet in testicle and muscle, at 800 mg/100 g diet in kidney, and at 1200 mg/100 g diet in liver, lung, and heart. Constant adrenic acid (22∶4n−6) levels were obtained at 150, 900, and 1200 mg/100 g diet in myelin, sciatic nerve, and brain, respectively. Minimal levels were difficult to determine. In all fractions examined accumulation of docosapentaenoic acid (22∶5n−6) was the most direct and specific consequence of increasing amounts of dietary 18∶2n−6. Tissue eicosapentaenoic acid (20∶5n−3) and 22∶5n−3 levels were relatively independent of dietary 18∶2n−6 intake, except in lung, liver, and kidney. In several organs (muscle, lung, kidney, liver, heart) as well as in myelin, very low levels of dietary linoleic acid led to an increase in 20∶5n−3. Dietary requirements for 18∶2n−6 varied from 150 to 1200 mg/100 g food intake, depending on the organ and the nature of the tissue fatty acid. Therefore, the minimum dietary requirement is estimated to be about 1200 mg/100 g (i.e., the level that ensures stable and constant amounts of arachidonic acid).  相似文献

The association between vascular wall shear stress (WSS) and the local development of atherosclerotic plaque makes estimation of in vivo WSS of considerable interest. Three-dimensional ultrasound (3DUS) combined with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) provides a potentially valuable tool for acquiring subject-specific WSS, but the interoperator and intraoperator variability associated with WSS calculations using this method is not known. Here, the accuracy, reproducibility and operator dependence of 3DUS-based computational fluid dynamics were examined through a phantom and in vivo studies. A carotid phantom was scanned and reconstructed by two operators. In the in vivo study, four operators scanned a healthy subject a total of 11 times, and their scan data were processed by three individuals. The study showed that with some basic training, operators could acquire accurate carotid geometry for flow reconstructions. The variability of measured cross-sectional area and predicted shear stress was 8.17% and 0.193 N/m/sup 2/ respectively for the in vivo study. It was shown that the variability of the examined parameters was more dependent on the scan operators than the image processing operator. The range of variability of geometrical and flow parameters reported here can be used as a reference for future in vivo studies using the 3DUS-based CFD approach.  相似文献
