An approach using spatial analysis of satellite IR spectral measurements for quality assessment is presented. The second spatial differential is used as a model of measurement noise for spatially smooth radiative fields. Spatial differentiation significantly magnifies the noise contribution and reduces the physical signal amplitude because of differences in spatial distributions of instrument noise and atmospheric thermal fields. The second spatial differential represents a convenient and effective tool for numerical analysis of satellite IR measurements. This paper demonstrates that statistics of the second spatial differential are informative predictors for data‐quality characterization. Statistics of the second spatial differential are used for identifying anomalies in spectral channel data caused by detector noise, sensitivity loss to spatial shortwave thermal variations, and spatially (temporally) correlated noise.  相似文献

Given the close association between climate change and vegetation response, there is a pressing requirement to monitor the phenology of vegetation and understand further how its metrics vary over space and time. This article explores the use of the Envisat MERIS terrestrial chlorophyll index (MTCI) data set for monitoring vegetation phenology, via its estimates of chlorophyll content. The MTCI was used to construct the phenological profile of and extract key phenological event dates from woodland and grass/heath land in Southern England as these represented a range of chlorophyll contents and different phenological cycles. The period 2003–2008 was selected as this was known to be a period with temperature and phenological anomalies. Comparisons of the MTCI-derived phenology data were made with ground indicators and climatic proxy of phenology and with other vegetation indices: MERIS global vegetation index (MGVI), MODIS normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) and MODIS enhanced vegetation index (EVI). Close correspondence between MTCI and canopy phenology as indicated by ground observations and climatic proxy was evident. Also observed was a difference between MTCI-derived phenological profile curves and key event dates (e.g. green-up, season length) and those derived from MERIS MGVI, MODIS NDVI and MODIS EVI. The research presented in this article supports the use of the Envisat MTCI for monitoring vegetation phenology, principally due to its sensitivity to canopy chlorophyll content, a vegetation property that is a useful proxy for the canopy physical and chemical alterations associated with phenological change.  相似文献

In this paper we consider the problem of obtaining time-domain multiplier stability criteria. We show that in the case of single-input single-output systems, time-domain versions of classical frequency domain multiplier criteria can be obtained in a straightforward manner. In many cases, the time-domain criteria are more compact and more readily verified than the original criteria. Our results show that conventional constraints on the frequency response of a transfer function become simple eigenvalue evaluations in the time-domain.  相似文献

A series of experiments examined the abilities of infants to form categorical representations for the spatial relations above and below. Exp 1 provided evidence that 3–4 mo olds can form categorical representations for above and below when a diamond shape was presented above or below a horizontal bar. Exps 2 and 3 showed that 3- and 4-mo olds did not form categorical representations for above and below when a number of discriminably different shapes (e.g., a diamond, a triangle, a dot) appeared above or below the bar. These more abstract categorical representations for above and below were formed by 6- to 7-mo olds (Exp 4). The findings suggest an experientially or maturationally based trend, from concrete to abstract, in the categorical representation of common spatial relations. Face milling is a process predominantly affected by dynamic variation of cutting forces, thermo-mechanical shocks and vibration leading to catastrophic tool failure along with gradual wear of the inserts. Keeping in view the industrial importance of this process, it is necessary to devise suitable methods to predict in advance the onset of tool failure without grossly impairing the machining set-up and the job. Hence, the applicability of back propagation neural network with delta bar delta learning rule for faster convergence has been studied with the above objective. The multi sensor based tool condition monitoring strategy shows that the learning rate adaptation scheme combined with the selection of suitable process parameters drastically reduces the training time of the artificial neural network without dispensing with the prediction accuracy.  相似文献

Time‐of‐flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (ToF‐SIMS) and principal components analysis (PCA) were used to analyze diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A (DGEBA) and diglycidyl ether of bisphenol F (DGEBF) epoxy resin blend cured with isophorone diamine (IPD) hardener at different resin to hardener ratios. The aim was to establish correlations between the hardener concentration and the nature and progress of the crosslinking reaction. Insights into the cured resin structure revealed using ToF‐SIMS are discussed. Three sets of significant secondary ions have been identified by PCA. Secondary ions such as C14H7O+, CHO+, CH3O+, and C21H24O4+ showed variance related to the completion of the curing reaction. Relative intensities of CxHyNz+ ions in the cured resin samples are indicative of the un‐reacted and partially reacted hardener molecules, and are found to be proportional to the resin to hardener mixing ratio. The relative ion intensities of the aliphatic hydrocarbon ions are shown to relate to the cured resin crosslinking density. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci, 2008  相似文献
