Nanocrystalline titanium carbide embedded in an hydrogenated amorphous carbon matrix (nc-TiC/a-C:H) shows high hardness and Young's modulus together with low wear and low friction coefficient. In this paper, we report on the preparation of well adherent nc-TiC/a-C:H coatings ~ 5 μm thick on stainless steel substrates using a well balanced magnetic field configuration and only very low power RF bias on the substrate. Hardness and Young's modulus of these coatings are 43 GPa and 380 GPa, respectively. The mechanical properties – hardness and Young's modulus – measured from the coating's top reach the values obtained at optimized experiments where the unbalanced magnetic field configuration was used. A simple method of depth profiling suitable for evaluation of mechanical properties of several micrometers thick coatings is developed and employed. The paper reports on the depth profile analyses of the coating hardness, Young's modulus, composition and morphology.  相似文献

Sorption of dyes from aqueous solutions onto fly ash   总被引:20,自引:0,他引:20  
Brown coal fly ashes were tested as potentially low-cost sorbents for the removal of synthetic dyes from waters. It was shown that both basic (cationic) as well as acid (anionic) dyes can be sorbed onto the fly ash. The adsorption can be described by the multi-site Langmuir isotherm. The sorption capacities were in the range of 10−1–10−3 mmol/g and did not differ significantly for basic and acid dyes. The dye sorption decreased in the presence of organic solvents (methanol, acetone). The presence of oppositely charged surfactants exhibited a pronounced effect on the dye sorption—low concentrations of the surfactant enhanced sorption, whereas high concentrations solubilized the dyes and kept them in solution. Inorganic salts exhibited only a minor effect on the dye sorption. The sorption of basic dyes increased at high pH values, whereas the opposite was true for acid dyes.  相似文献

MAS 13C‐NMR measurements were used for the study of morphology and molecular mobility in amorphous quenched and triacetine‐plasticized PLA samples and PLA samples which underwent cold crystallization during annealing at 80 and 100 °C. The single pulse MAS 13C‐NMR spectra indicate that plasticizer promotes cold crystallization which results in the decrease of the temperature of crystallization and formation of more perfect crystalline domains. The T1(13C) spin‐lattice relaxation times show that the presence of plasticizer molecules leads to an increase of local mobility in PLA chains but plasticized PLA after annealing at 100 °C shows more rigid structure. The series of broad line 1H‐NMR spectra performed at temperatures up to 100 °C provided information on the changes in relaxation processes and morphology of the studied samples. The interpretation of the results obtained using the techniques of NMR spectroscopy were supported by WAXD and DSC measurements. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym. The controlled-drift detector is a recently designed position-sensing X-ray detector. It operates by switching between integration and drift mode. The basic idea is to generate potential wells within the otherwise linear drift potential. During the integration mode signal electrons are being accumulated within these wells. The removal of the barriers in an externally controlled way restores a uniform drift field that sweeps the electrons towards the readout anodes. The height of the confining barrier depends on the drift field and on the amplitude of the potential perturbation at the surface. An experimental study of the charge handling capability has been carried out as a function of the amplitude of the surface perturbation (up to 2.1 V) and as a function of the drift field (250-400 V/cm). The study provides a sensitive measurement of the actual potential barrier of the integration well in different operating conditions. A detailed analysis and characterisation of the mechanisms to confine the signal electrons in the 3D well is presented. For a drift field of 300 V/cm, storage of more than 105 electrons in 180×180 μm2 pixels has been achieved with 1.67 V surface perturbation  相似文献

In-stent restenosis is a recurrence of coronary artery narrowing due to vascular injury caused by balloon dilation and stent placement. It may lead to the relapse of angina symptoms or to an acute coronary syndrome. An uncertainty quantification of a model for in-stent restenosis with four uncertain parameters (endothelium regeneration time, the threshold strain for smooth muscle cell bond breaking, blood flow velocity and the percentage of fenestration in the internal elastic lamina) is presented. Two quantities of interest were studied, namely the average cross-sectional area and the maximum relative area loss in a vessel. Owing to the high computational cost required for uncertainty quantification, a surrogate model, based on Gaussian process regression with proper orthogonal decomposition, was developed and subsequently used for model response evaluation in the uncertainty quantification. A detailed analysis of the uncertainty propagation is presented. Around 11% and 16% uncertainty is observed on the two quantities of interest, respectively, and the uncertainty estimates show that a higher fenestration mainly determines the uncertainty in the neointimal growth at the initial stage of the process. The uncertainties in blood flow velocity and endothelium regeneration time mainly determine the uncertainty in the quantities of interest at the later, clinically relevant stages of the restenosis process.  相似文献

The main problem precluding successful therapy with conventional taxanes is de novo or acquired resistance to taxanes. Therefore, novel experimental taxane derivatives (Stony Brook taxanes; SB-Ts) are synthesized and tested as potential drugs against resistant solid tumors. Recently, we reported alterations in ABCC3, CPS1, and TRIP6 gene expression in a breast cancer cell line resistant to paclitaxel. The present study aimed to investigate gene expression changes of these three candidate molecules in the highly resistant ovarian carcinoma cells in vitro and corresponding in vivo models treated with paclitaxel and new experimental Stony Brook taxanes of the third generation (SB-T-121605 and SB-T-121606). We also addressed their prognostic meaning in ovarian carcinoma patients treated with taxanes. We estimated and observed changes in mRNA and protein profiles of ABCC3, CPS1, and TRIP6 in resistant and sensitive ovarian cancer cells and after the treatment of resistant ovarian cancer models with paclitaxel and Stony Brook taxanes in vitro and in vivo. Combining Stony Brook taxanes with paclitaxel caused downregulation of CPS1 in the paclitaxel-resistant mouse xenograft tumor model in vivo. Moreover, CPS1 overexpression seems to play a role of a prognostic biomarker of epithelial ovarian carcinoma patients’ poor survival. ABCC3 was overexpressed in EOC tumors, but after the treatment with taxanes, its up-regulation disappeared. Based on our results, we can suggest ABCC3 and CPS1 for further investigations as potential therapeutic targets in human cancers.  相似文献

CuxCo1-xFe2O4 (x = 0.33, 0.67, 1)-reduced graphene oxide (rGO)-thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) nanocomposites exhibiting highly efficient electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding were prepared by a melt-mixing approach using a microcompounder. Spinel ferrite Cu0.33Co0.67Fe2O4 (CuCoF1), Cu0.67Co0.33Fe2O4 (CuCoF2) and CuFe2O4 (CuF3) nanoparticles were synthesized using the sonochemical method. The CuCoF1 and CuCoF2 exhibited typical ferromagnetic features, whereas CuF3 displayed superparamagnetic characteristics. The maximum value of EMI total shielding effectiveness (SET) was noticed to be 42.9 dB, 46.2 dB, and 58.8 dB for CuCoF1-rGO-TPU, CuCoF2-rGO-TPU, and CuF3-rGO-TPU nanocomposites, respectively, at a thickness of 1 mm. The highly efficient EMI shielding performance was attributed to the good impedance matching, conductive, dielectric, and magnetic loss. The demonstrated nanocomposites are promising candidates for a lightweight, flexible, and highly efficient EMI shielding material.  相似文献

DNA methylation is the most studied epigenetic mechanism that regulates gene expression, and it can serve as a useful biomarker of prior environmental exposure and future health outcomes. This study focused on DNA methylation profiles in a human cohort, comprising 125 nonsmoking city policemen (sampled twice), living and working in three localities (Prague, Ostrava and Ceske Budejovice) of the Czech Republic, who spent the majority of their working time outdoors. The main characterization of the localities, differing by major sources of air pollution, was defined by the stationary air pollution monitoring of PM2.5, B[a]P and NO2. DNA methylation was analyzed by a genome-wide microarray method. No season-specific DNA methylation pattern was discovered; however, we identified 13,643 differentially methylated CpG loci (DML) for a comparison between the Prague and Ostrava groups. The most significant DML was cg10123377 (log2FC = −1.92, p = 8.30 × 10−4) and loci annotated to RPTOR (total 20 CpG loci). We also found two hypomethylated loci annotated to the DNA repair gene XRCC5. Groups of DML annotated to the same gene were linked to diabetes mellitus (KCNQ1), respiratory diseases (PTPRN2), the dopaminergic system of the brain and neurodegenerative diseases (NR4A2). The most significant possibly affected pathway was Axon guidance, with 86 potentially deregulated genes near DML. The cluster of gene sets that could be affected by DNA methylation in the Ostrava groups mainly includes the neuronal functions and biological processes of cell junctions and adhesion assembly. The study demonstrates that the differences in the type of air pollution between localities can affect a unique change in DNA methylation profiles across the human genome.  相似文献

We have developed two types of new paddle-style dipstick dye immunoassays. The first is genus Listeria specific and the second is specific to Listeria monocytogenes. They are based respectively, on antisera raised against heat-killed L. monocytogenes cells and against internalin B crude extract, a virulence protein found only in the pathogenic L. monocytogenes. The minimum detectable level for L. monocytogenes is 2×107 CFU ml−1 for strain number 88/049 in pure culture. Detection is unaffected by the presence of high numbers (approximately log 8.0 CFU/ml) of the other microorganisms tested. When the dipsticks were applied to milk samples inoculated with L. monocytogenes reference material (ALM92), there was a strong response to the enrichment cultures. The new assay may prove useful in detection of L. monocytogenes in enrichment cultures of milk and ice cream food samples.  相似文献
