The effects of freezing method, freeze drying process, and the use of protective agents on the viability of the biocontrol yeast Candida sake were studied. Freezing at -20 degrees C was the best method to preserve the viability of C. sake cells after freeze drying using 10% skim milk as a protectant (28.9% survival). Liquid nitrogen freezing caused the highest level of damage to the cells with viability < 10%. Different concentrations of exogenous substances including sugars, polyols, polymers and nitrogen compounds were tested either alone or in combination with skim milk. There was little or no effect when additives were used at 1% concentration. Galactose, raffinose and sodium glutamate at 10% were the best protective agents tested alone but the viability of freeze-dried C. sake cells was always < 20%. Survival of yeast cells was increased from 0.2% to 30-40% by using appropriate protective media containing combinations of skim milk and other protectants such as 5% or 10% lactose or glucose, and 10% fructose or sucrose.  相似文献

The electrochemical oxidation of aqueous wastes polluted with hydroquinone, resorcinol, or catechol on boron-doped diamond electrodes has been studied. The complete mineralization of the organic waste has been obtained independently of the nature of each isomer. No aromatic intermediates were found during the treatment, and solely aliphatic intermediates (carboxylic acids C4 and C2, mainly) were detected in the three cases. Although as from the bulk electrolyses study no differences in the electrochemical oxidation of dihydroxybenzenes seem to exist, different voltammetric behavior between resorcinol and the other two isomers was obtained in the voltammetric study. Catechol and hydroquinone have a reversible quinonic form, and a cathodic reduction peak appears in their voltammograms. The characterization of the first steps in the electrochemical oxidation of the three dihydroxybenzenes showed the formation of a larger number of intermediates in the oxidation of catechol, although no carbon dioxide was detected in its oxidation. Conversely, the oxidation of resorcinol and hydroquinone lead to the formation of important concentrations of carbon dioxide. The nondetection of aromatic intermediates, even if small quantities of charge are passed, confirms that the oxidation must be carried out directly on the electrode surface or by hydroxyl radicals generated by decomposition of water.  相似文献

SUMMARY –Protein quantity and quality of degermed corn meal were improved by supplementation with toasted defatted soy flour. Taste panel results indicated no significant change in preference, acceptability and similarity to corn meal when as much as 20% toasted defatted soy flour was contained in the blend. Flavor stability was adequate in blends containing toasted defatted, commercial processed full-fat or extrusion-cooked full-fat soy flours at the 15% level. Product color was changed more by the inclusion of toasted defatted than of full-fat soy flour in the blends. Satisfactory performance was found in chapatti and northern corn bread containing degermed corn meal with and without 15% toasted defatted, 20% commercial processed full-fat or 35% extrusion-cooked full-fat soy flours.  相似文献

Due to the increasing interest in certain components, specially the oil, from non-conventional seeds as Rosa mosqueta (Rosa rubiginosa) and Chilean hazelnut (Gevuina avellana), quick determinations of oil and other parameters were carried out by using near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy. Moisture, oil, fiber (as acid detergent fiber) and protein from solid samples of the seeds as mentioned, along with those of soybean (Glycine max), already analyzed by NIR and for serving as control for the variability of the method, were studied. Sample interactions to NIR radiations were processed using the multivariate regression algorithm Partial Least Squared (PLS) to build a calibration model. Standard error of cross-validation (SECV) was used to estimate the prediction error. Moisture of Rosa mosqueta, Chilean hazelnut presscake and soybean meal (in the ranges 10–15, 10–15, 8–10%, respectively), acid detergent fiber (60–68, 12–16, 10–15%, respectively), oil (1–4, 14–20, 5–13%, respectively) and protein (1–5, 8–15, 27–45%, respectively) were previously determined by wet analysis using standard methods, so creating a library. The possibility to analyze parameters from very different oilseeds with an acceptable uncertainty was also established. Standard errors of cross-validation were between 1.25 and 2.99%, being the oil content the best predicted parameter.  相似文献

The objective of this study was to develop new nanofiltration (NF) membranes capable of providing significantly greater water permeability and higher rejection of water contaminants compared to state-of-the-art NF membranes. The active layer of the new NF membranes is prepared with rigid star amphiphiles (RSAs) synthesized as part of this study. Performance characterization for a first generation of RSA membranes in a bench-scale apparatus reveals that most of the new membranes provide water permeability of 1.3-3.1 times that of two commercial NF membranes with polyamide active layers while providing comparable rejection of the organic contaminant surrogate Rhodamine WT. However, the rejection of arsenious acid (H3AsO3) by most new NF membranes was found to be lower than that by the two commercial NF membranes tested. Future research efforts of this study will focus on exploring if H3AsO3 rejection could be significantly increased, without negatively affecting water permeability and organic contaminant rejection, by addition of various chemical groups to RSA hydrophobic cores and hydrophilic branches, and by RSA cross-linking.  相似文献

This work presents relevant metallurgical considerations to produce galvanized dual phase steels from low cost aluminum-silicon steels which are produced by continuous strip processing. Two steels with different contents of Si and Al were austenized in the two-phase field ferrite + austenite (α + γ) in a fast manner to obtain dual phase steels, suitable for hot-dip galvanizing process, under typical parameters of continuous annealing processing line. Tensile dual phase properties were obtained from specimens cooled from temperature below Ar3, held during 3 min, intermediate cooling at temperature above Ar1 and quenching in Zn bath at 465 °C. The results have shown typical microstructure and tensile properties of galvanized dual phase steels. Finally, the synergistic effect of aluminum, silicon, and residual chromium on martensite start temperature (M s), critical cooling rate (C R), volume fraction of martensite, and tensile properties has been studied.  相似文献

A pentose‐rich hydrolysate fraction obtained by extraction of steam‐pretreated sugarcane bagasse was analysed with regard to dissolved phenolics. The liquid obtained after steam pretreatment (2% SO2 (w/w) at 190 °C for 5 min) was divided into two parts: one containing dissolved compounds originating from hemicellulose (with xylose as the dominating compound), and the other containing predominantly dissolved compounds originating from lignin. Using nuclear magnetic resonance, the main dissolved compounds originating from lignin were identified as the glycosylated aromatics, 5‐O‐(trans‐feruloyl)‐L‐Arabinofuranose and 5‐O‐(trans‐coumaroyl)‐L‐Arabinofuranose, together with p‐coumaric acid and small amounts of more common free phenolics such as p‐hydroxybenzaldehyde, p‐hydroxybenzoic acid and vanillin. The phenolic compounds were analysed and quantified using reversed‐phase high‐performance liquid chromatography.
