Sorghum flour was heat treated for producing an instant dispersion ingredient. The precooked sorghum flour was added with ACE-I and DPP-IV inhibitory sorghum peptides (3.0 g peptide 100 g−1). The product was reconstituted in water, and peptide bioaccessibility was evaluated by equilibrium dialysis method after simulated gastrointestinal digestion. Total peptide dialysability of precooked sorghum flour added with sorghum peptides was higher than those obtained for precooked sorghum flour (315.9 ± 14.8 vs. 45.2 ± 5.6 µmol, respectively) (P < 0.05). The ACE-I and DPP-IV-IC50 values of the bioaccessible peptides from the bioactive product were lower than those obtained for precooked sorghum flour ingredient (1.04 ± 0.12 vs. 1.82 ± 0.09 and 0.86 ± 0.02 vs. 2.12 ± 0.08 mg protein mL−1, for ACE-I and DPP-IV, respectively) indicating a higher activity. Precooked sorghum flour was a good vehicle since it did not affect the bioaccessibility of ACE-I and DPP-IV inhibitory peptides provided by sorghum protein hydrolysate.  相似文献

Secondhand electronic cigarette (e-cigarette) aerosol (SHA) might impair indoor air quality and expose bystanders. This study aims to investigate exposure to SHA in controlled conditions of enclosed settings simulating real-world scenario. An experiment was performed in a car and in a room, in which SHA was generated during a 30-minute ad libitum use of an e-cigarette. The experiment was replicated on five consecutive days in each setting. We measured PM2.5, airborne nicotine concentrations, and biomarkers of exposure to SHA, such as nicotine metabolites, tobacco-specific nitrosamines, propylene glycol, and glycerol in bystanders’ saliva samples before, during, and after the exposure period. Self-reported health symptoms related to exposure to SHA were also recorded. The results showed that the highest median PM2.5 concentration was recorded during the exposure period, being 21 µg/m3 in the room setting and 16 µg/m3 in the car setting—about twofold increase compared to the baseline. Most concentrations of the airborne nicotine and all biomarkers were below the limit of quantification in both settings. Bystanders in both settings experienced some short-term irritation symptoms, expressed as dry throat, nose, eyes, and phlegm. In conclusion, short-term use of an e-cigarette in confined spaces increased indoor PM2.5 level and caused some irritation symptoms in bystanders.  相似文献

In spite of having several advantages such as low cost, high chemical stability, and environmentally safe and benign synthetic as well as operational procedures, the full potential of carbon dots (CDs) is yet to be explored as photosensitizers due to the challenges associated with the fabrication of well‐arrayed CDs with many other photocatalytic heterostructures. In the present study, a unique combination of metal–organic framework (MOF)‐decorated zinc oxide (ZnO) 1D nanostructures as host and CDs as guest species are explored on account of their potential application in photoelectrochemical (PEC) water splitting performance. The synthetic strategy to incorporate well‐defined nitrogen‐doped carbon dots (N‐CDs) arrays onto a zeolitic imidazolate framework‐8 (ZIF‐8) anchored on ZnO 1D nanostructures allows a facile unification of different components which subsequently plays a decisive role in improving the material's PEC water splitting performance. Simple extension of such strategies is expected to offer significant advantages for the preparation of CD‐based heterostructures for photo(electro)catalytics and other related applications.  相似文献

The aim of this work was to characterize Arbequina extra-virgin olive oils (EVOOs) from different locations in southern Catalonia (Spain) in terms of their phenolic profile, to show the classification of oil samples with respect to geographical area. The phenolic compounds present in 32 olive-oil samples were analyzed by a rapid and effective HPLC–ESI-TOF/MS method, and 18 phenolic compounds belonging to different phenolic types were identified. The results showed no qualitative differences in the phenolic fractions among EVOO from different geographical region. However, quantitative differences were observed in a wide number of phenolic compounds. In all olive-oil samples studied, secoiridoids were the most abundant, followed by lignans, phenolic alcohols, and flavonoids, respectively. Multivariate data were analysed by canonical discriminant analyses. Seventeen variables were used without a variable reduction step. Phenolic content of extra-virgin olive oils was found to depend highly on geographical area.  相似文献

Anticlostridial activity of acetogenins from avocado seed was further characterised, and their stability and effectiveness under food processing conditions, and in a model food system, studied for the first time. Isolated AcO‐avocadenyne (1) and AcO‐avocadene (2) showed anticlostridial potential, particularly the latter molecule. Enriched acetogenins extracts, obtained at laboratory scale (EAE) and semi‐commercially (Avosafe®), presented similar MIC values (3.9–9.8 ppm) and a bacteriostatic effect. Extracts bioactivity showed resistance to heat (≤120 °C), high hydrostatic pressure (HHP; 300–600 MPa, 3–6 min, 25 °C) and salt (≤3% w/v). In addition, the extract was most stable at pH ≥ 7.0 and potency against endospores increased after HHP treatment and exposure to pH 9.5, suggesting a positive effect on solubility or structure of particular acetogenins. In a model food system processed by HHP, acetogenins were retained; however, initial quantities gradually declined by 63% and 32% at 25 and 4 °C, respectively, at the end of the storage period (42 days). Most stable molecules (persediene (4) > persenones > AcO‐avocadene (2)) possess a keto or trans‐enone group at C‐4 in the aliphatic chain, which could support hydrogen donation to surrounding carbon atoms and confer antioxidant activity. Active endospores were completely inhibited by 5000 ppm Avosafe® in the model food system (37 °C, 72 h) and lower concentrations (500–1000 ppm) resulted in 1–2 log reduction of a 3 log inoculum target. Efficacy information generated in the present work is considered crucial to improve scientific knowledge on spore inhibition properties of avocado acetogenins.  相似文献
