Male and female weanling rats that were born to dams fed a diet low in linolenic acid received diets of 15% lipids by weight
containing 45% elaidic acid (as trielaidin) and 8.5% or 0.1% linolenic acid for 10 weeks. Four other groups, in which palmitic
or oleic acid replaced elaidic acid in the diet, served as controls. The fatty acid profiles of several lipid classes were
determined in adipose tissue, adrenals, testes, heart and brain. Elaidic acid was incorporated into tissue lipids in varying
degrees, depending on the organ and on the lipid class. Feeding elaidic acid induced no changes in the polyunsaturated fatty
acid (PUFA) profiles of testes lipids but resulted in definite modifications of the PUFA patterns of heart phosphatidylcholine
(PC) and phosphatidylethanolamine (PE). In linolenic acid-deprived rats, arachidonic acid was decreased in PC and linoleic
acid was increased in both PC and PE; 22∶5n−6 was strongly depressed in both PC and PE. In linolenic acid-fed rats, 22∶6n−3
was decreased in PC and PE. These changes, on the whole, were more evident in females, and some also were observed in adrenal
cholesteryl esters but only slightly in brain phospholipids. the apparent inhibition of the biosynthesis of PUFA induced by
dietary elaidic acid appeared to be complex and of greater intensity in the n−6 fatty acid series than in their n−3 homologues. 相似文献

This paper provides a detailed review of the global/local non-intrusive coupling algorithm. Such method allows to alter a global finite element model, without actually modifying its corresponding numerical operator. We also look into improvements of the initial algorithm (Quasi-Newton and dynamic relaxation), and provide comparisons based on several relevant test cases. Innovative examples and advanced applications of the non-intrusive coupling algorithm are provided, granting a handy framework for both researchers and engineers willing to make use of such process. Finally, a novel nonlinear domain decomposition method is derived from the global/local non-intrusive coupling strategy, without the need to use a parallel code or software. Such method being intended to large scale analysis, we show its scalability. Jointly, an efficient high level Message Passing Interface coupling framework is also proposed, granting an universal and flexible way for easy software coupling. A sample code is also given. 相似文献

Proteins implicated in iron homeostasis are assumed to be also involved in the cellular processing of iron oxide nanoparticles. In this work, the role of an endogenous iron storage protein—namely the ferritin—is examined in the remediation and biodegradation of magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles. Previous in vivo studies suggest the intracellular transfer of the iron ions released during the degradation of nanoparticles to endogenous protein cages within lysosomal compartments. Here, the capacity of ferritin cages to accommodate and store the degradation products of nanoparticles is investigated in vitro in the physiological acidic environment of the lysosomes. Moreover, it is questioned whether ferritin proteins can play an active role in the degradation of the nanoparticles. The magnetic, colloidal, and structural follow‐up of iron oxide nanoparticles and proteins in lysosome‐like medium confirms the efficient remediation of potentially harmful iron ions generated by nanoparticles within ferritins. The presence of ferritins, however, delays the degradation of particles due to a complex colloidal behavior of the mixture in acidic medium. Despite great interests in electrochemical energy storage systems for numerous applications, considerable challenges remain to be overcome. Among the various approaches to improving the stability, safety, performance, and cost of these systems, molecular functionalization has recently been proved an attractive method that allows the tuning of material surface reactivity while retaining the properties of the bulk material. For this purpose, the reduction of aryldiazonium salt, which is a versatile method, is considered suitable; it forms robust covalent bonds with the material surface, however, with the formation of multilayer structures and sp3 defects (for carbon substrate) that can be detrimental to the electronic conductivity. Alternatively, non-covalent molecular functionalization based on π–π interactions using aromatic ring units has been proposed. In this review, the various advances in molecular functionalization concerning the current limitations in lithium-ion batteries and electrochemical capacitors are discussed. According to the targeted applications and required properties, both covalent and non-covalent functionalization methods have proved to be very efficient and versatile. Fundamental aspects to achieve a better understanding of the functionalization reactions as well as molecular layer properties and their effects on the electrochemical performance are also discussed. In the context of comparative analysis of protein–protein interaction graphs, we use a graph-based formalism to detect the preservation of a given protein complex (pattern graph) in the protein–protein interaction graph (target graph) of another species with respect to (w.r.t.) orthologous proteins. We give an efficient exponential-time randomized algorithm in case the occurrence of the pattern graph in the target graph is required to be exact. For approximate occurrences, we prove a tight inapproximability result and give four approximation algorithms that deal with bounded degree graphs, small ortholog numbers, linear forests and very simple yet hard instances, respectively. 相似文献
