1. Calcium disodium ethylenediaminetetraacetate (CaNa2 EDTA) and meso-2,3-dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA) individually and in permutation-combination in various doses (0.1, 0.2 and 0.4 mmol/kg bodyweight) were investigated for their efficacy to mobilize lead from vital tissues into urine and faeces and to restore the lead-sensitive biochemical parameters in lead pre-exposed rats with a view to develop the most acceptable treatment regimen for lead poisoning with a minimal loss of endogenous essential elements. 2. The combined therapy was more effective than a single chelator treatment. 3. The combination of 0.2 mmol/kg CaNa2EDTA + 0.4 mmol/kg DMSA caused a lower depletion of zinc, calcium and iron but possessed almost equal capability to that of 0.4 mmol/kg CaNa2EDTA + 0.4 mmol/kg DMSA to produce urinary as well as faecal excretion of lead, to reduce the tissue burden of lead, including that of the brain, and to reverse lead-induced biochemical alterations. 4. The combination of 0.2 mmol/kg CaNa2EDTA + 0.4 mmol/kg DMSA has shown a definite improvement over previously reported combinations in terms of removal of lead from tissues, particularly the brain, restoration of urinary delta-aminolevulinic acid levels and a decrease in the loss of body zinc and is, therefore, recommended for the treatment of lead intoxication. 相似文献

BACKGROUND: Bluetongue virus (BTV), which belongs to the Reoviridae family and orbivirus genus, is a non-enveloped, icosahedral, double-stranded RNA virus. Several protein layers enclose its genome; upon cell entry the outer layer is stripped away leaving a core, the surface of which is composed of VP7. The structure of the trimeric VP7 molecule has previously been determined using X-ray crystallography. The articulated VP7 subunit consists of two domains, one which is largely alpha-helical and the other, smaller domain, is a beta barrel with jelly-roll topology. The relative orientations of these two domains vary in different crystal forms. The structure of VP7 and the organizations of 780 subunits of this molecule in the core of virus is central to the assembly and function of BTV. RESULTS: A 23 A resolution map of the core, determined using electron cryomicroscopy (cryoEM) data, reveals that the 260 trimers of VP7 are organized on a rather precise T = 13 laevo icosahedral lattice, in accordance with the theory of quasi-equivalence. The VP7 layer occupies a shell that is between 260 A and 345 A from the centre of the core. Below this radius (230-260 A) lies the T = 1 layer of 120 molecules of VP3. By fitting the X-ray structure of an individual VP7 trimer onto the cryoEM BTV core structure, we have generated an atomic model of the VP7 layer of BTV. This demonstrates that one of the molecular structures seen in crystals of the isolated VP7 corresponds to the in vivo conformation of the molecule in the core. CONCLUSIONS: The beta-barrel domains of VP7 are external to the core and interact with protein in the outer layer of the mature virion. The lower, alpha-helical domains of VP7 interact with VP3 molecules which form the inner layer of the BTV core. Adjacent VP7 trimer-trimer interactions in the T = 13 layer are mediated principally through well-defined regions in the broader lower domains, to form a structure that conforms well with that expected from the theory of quasi-equivalence with no significant conformational changes within the individual trimers. The VP3 layer determines the particle size and forms a rather smooth surface upon which the two-dimensional lattice of VP7 trimers is laid down. 相似文献

In this paper, a new approximation to off-line signature verification is proposed based on two-class classifiers using an
expert decisions ensemble. Different methods to extract sets of local and a global features from the target sample are detailed.
Also a normalization by confidence voting method is used in order to decrease the final equal error rate (EER). Each set of
features is processed by a single expert, and on the other approach proposed, the decisions of the individual classifiers
are combined using weighted votes. Experimental results are given using a subcorpus of the large MCYT signature database for
random and skilled forgeries. The results show that the weighted combination outperforms the individual classifiers significantly.
The best EER obtained were 6.3 % in the case of skilled forgeries and 2.31 % in the case of random forgeries. 相似文献

IR and Raman spectra of glass ceramics based on PbO-Cr2O3-B2O3glass composition system have been studied. The bands characteristic of BO3. and BO4 functional groups are present in all the samples. An incorporation of Al2O3(up to 5 mol%) in the initial glass composition considerably changes the glass network structure and relative concentrations of BO3 and BO4 groups. The composition 50 PbO-20 Cr2O3-25 B2O3-5 Al2O3(in mol%) reveals a maximum fraction of boron in the BO4 group. A sample of this composition heat treated at 850° C for 25 h shows a maximum crystallization fraction with Pb2O · CrO4 as a prominent crystalline phase. The glasses irradiated with rays inhibit the crystallization into the Pb2O · CrO4 phase. They also show relatively smaller thermal conductivity. 相似文献

Quasi-isotropic. laminates have isotropic elastic properties in all in-plane directions. Therefore, this kind of laminate is widely used for structural elements. The simplest stacking sequence of quasi-isotropic laminates is [0/-60/60]s. When the direction of applied axial load to [0/-60/60]s laminate is inclined at a 30-degree angle, we have the other quasi-isotropic laminate [30/-30/90]s under axial load. The failure mechanisms of these two laminates are, however, entirely different from each other because these two laminates have different distribution of the interlaminar stresses. It was confirmed by tensile fatigue tests that the [0/-60/60]s laminate does not show any visible fatigue damage, but the [30/-30/90]s laminate develops edge-delamination during cyclic loading. This paper reports fabrication of 2-DOF vibratory gyroscope using SU-8 based UV-LIGA process. The device structure is designed to be symmetrical in order to match the resonance frequencies of drive and sense mode oscillators and also to minimize their relative temperature dependent drift. The overall arrangement is such that the two vibration modes do not affect each other and therefore, mechanical decoupling is achieved which helps in minimizing bias drift. The design is optimized to be compatible with the UV-LIGA process having 10 μm thick electroformed nickel as structural layer. Photolithography to create 11 μm thick SU-8 molds for electroforming sacrificial copper and structural nickel layer is optimized using multiple exposure technique that ensures near vertical side walls. Since the highly cross-linked SU-8 remaining after development is difficult to remove reliably from high aspect ratio structures without damage or alteration to the electroformed metals, a 2.45 GHz MW plasma etching process is developed with CF4/O2 mixes. The fabricated device is checked for off-plane misalignment between the stationary and movable comb fingers using white light interferometry and it is found to be almost negligible. Also, the prototype device is characterized for amplitude and phase spectral responses using Polytec MSA-500 Micro System Analyzer. The drive and sense mode resonance frequencies are observed at 7.3 and 7.1 kHz respectively against the mode matched designed frequency of 7.5 kHz. 相似文献

Epilepsy is a neurological disorder which is characterized by transient and unexpected electrical disturbance of the brain. The electroencephalogram (EEG) is a commonly used signal for detection of epileptic seizures. This paper presents a new method for classification of ictal and seizure-free EEG signals. The proposed method is based on the empirical mode decomposition (EMD) and the second-order difference plot (SODP). The EMD method decomposes an EEG signal into a set of symmetric and band-limited signals termed as intrinsic mode functions (IMFs). The SODP of IMFs provides elliptical structure. The 95% confidence ellipse area measured from the SODP of IMFs has been used as a feature in order to discriminate seizure-free EEG signals from the epileptic seizure EEG signals. The feature space obtained from the ellipse area parameters of two IMFs has been used for classification of ictal and seizure-free EEG signals using the artificial neural network (ANN) classifier. It has been shown that the feature space formed using ellipse area parameters of first and second IMFs has given good classification performance. Experimental results on EEG database available by the University of Bonn, Germany, are included to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. 相似文献

In this paper, we describe how to detect abnormal human activities taking place in an outdoor surveillance environment. Human tracks are provided in real time by the baseline video surveillance system. Given trajectory information, the event analysis module will attempt to determine whether or not a suspicious activity is currently being observed. However, due to real-time processing constrains, there might be false alarms generated by video image noise or non-human objects. It requires further intensive examination to filter out false event detections which can be processed in an off-line fashion. We propose a hierarchical abnormal event detection system that takes care of real time and semi-real time as multi-tasking. In low level task, a trajectory-based method processes trajectory data and detects abnormal events in real time. In high level task, an intensive video analysis algorithm checks whether the detected abnormal event is triggered by actual humans or not. 相似文献

Structural analysis derived from the crystallographic studyof the chimeric B72.3 antibody illustrated some major atomicinteractions between complementarity determining region (CDR)residues. For example, hydrogen bonds are formed between H35/H95,L50/H97, H53/H55 and H96/L96 respectively. These CDR residuesmay play important roles in the B72.3TAG72 (antibody-antigen)interaction either by direct interaction with the TAG72 antigenor by maintaining a CDR loop conformation through atomic interactionsbetween CDR residues. In order to confirm these assumptions,we altered these CDR residues by site-directed mutagenesis anddetermined binding affinities of these mutant chimeric antibodiesfor the TAG72 antigen in a solid-phase radioimmunoassay. Wefound that H55, H95, H97 and L96 are important CDR residuesfor the B72.3TAG72 interaction. Single amino acid substitutionsof aspartic acid and serine by alanine at H55 of CDR2 and atH95 of CDR3 respectively and of tyrosine by phenylalanine atH97 and L96 of CDR3, significantly reduced the binding affinityfor the TAG72 antigen by 20-, 8-, 16- and 45-fold respectively.Therefore, this study reveals some of the requirements for maintainingthe integrity of the B72.3 antibody combining sites. 相似文献
