In the present work, the microstructural evolution and hardness of HSLA X70 joined by friction stir welding were investigated. The FSW was applied to HSLA X70 with and without the addition of titanium dioxide (TiO2) powders. To evaluate the microstructural features and hardness of different weld zones, optical microscopy and Vickers microhardness measurements were applied. The results show that the distribution of TiO2 powders is strongly dependent on the applied friction stir processing, which in turn changed significantly the microstructure and hardness profile. In this regard, the optimum stirring action resulted in a homogeneous and fine dispersion of particles leading to the domination of an acicular ferrite phase with a hardness of 370 HV. On the other hand, the lower stirring action resulted in coarse particles as well as the development of the polygonal ferrite structure with a hardness of ~185 HV.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: Copolymers of acrylic acid (AA) are important materials for the preparation of glass ionomer cements. Copolymerisation of AA is widely used to alter the acid strength of the material and to increase the number of salt bridges formed in cements. In this paper we report the copolymerisation of AA with n‐butyl vinyl ether (BVE) to form unique copolymers of the hemiacetal ester and with BVE incorporated into the main chain. RESULTS: AA and BVE undergo a spontaneous reaction to form a hemiacetal ester which can itself undergo free radical copolymerisation. The kinetics of this reaction in the bulk state have been examined. In addition, under these conditions BVE is incorporated into the polymer main chain via a free radical mechanism. CONCLUSION: Novel copolymers of the hemiacetal ester and BVE have been prepared in this study. The hemiacetal side chains are labile under moderate heating, being converted back to the acid analogue. This article studies a no-wait two-stage flexible flow shop scheduling problem with setup times aiming to minimize the total completion time. The problem is solved using an adaptive imperialist competitive algorithm (AICA) and genetic algorithm (GA). To test the performance of the proposed AICA and GA, the algorithms are compared with ant colony optimisation, known as an effective algorithm in the literature. The performance of the algorithms are evaluated by solving both small and large-scale problems. Their performance is evaluated in terms of relative percentage deviation. Finally the results of the study are discussed and conclusions and potential areas for further study are highlighted.  相似文献

A new type of Reduced Beam Section (RBS) connection, “Accordion Web RBS (AW-RBS)”, is presented in this research. RBS connections are commonly known as connections with reduced flange width within a limited area near the column face. However, the AW-RBS decreases the web contribution in moment strength and a reduced section is developed in the beam. In an AW-RBS, the flat web is replaced by corrugated plates (L-shape folded plates, used here) at the expected location of the beam’s plastic hinge. While the corrugated web has adequate shear strength, its provided moment strength and flexural stiffness are negligible. Two relatively identical specimens including AW-RBS connections have been tested under cyclic loading. Both specimens provide at least 8% story drift, without any significant strength loss, which is more than current requirements for qualifying connections in special moment frames. The accordion effect of the corrugated web and the cyclic performance of the connection are verified by analytical results. According to the analytical and experimental results, the inelastic rotations of the connection are mostly provided by reliable and ductile rotation at the reduced region rather than in the connection plates or panel zone.  相似文献

Herein, a simple melt-blending method is utilized to disperse of halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) in polystyrene/polyolefin elastomer (PS/POE) blends. Based on morphological studies, the PS/POE/HNT nanocomposite containing up to 3 phr HNTs shows excellent nanofiller dispersion, while those filled with 5 phr HNTs exhibit nanofiller aggregation. To overcome the nanofiller aggregation issue, the polypropylene-grafted-maleic anhydride (PP-g-MA) compatibilizer is added to the PS/POE/HNT nanocomposite, which results in improved mechanical properties for the nanocomposite sheets. Furthermore, the addition of compatibilized HNTs to the PS/POE blends leads to decreased O2 and N2 gas permeabilities. Besides, incorporating POE, HNTs, and PP-g-MA leads to a decrease in water vapor transmission of PS. In the end, the experimentally-determined mechanical properties and gas permeabilities of the nanocomposite sheets are compared to those predicted by prevalent theoretical models, revealing a good agreement between the experimental and theoretical results. Molecular-dynamics simulations are also carried out to calculate the gas diffusion coefficients in the different sheets to further support the experimental findings in this study. Overall, the PS/POE/HNT/PP-g-MA nanocomposite sheets fabricated in this work demonstrate excellent mechanical and gas barrier properties; and hence, can be used as candidate packaging materials. However, the strength of the resulting PS/POE blend may be inferior to that of the virgin PS.  相似文献

BACKGROUND: The effectiveness of chitosan films containing Zataria multiflora Boiss essential oil (ZEO) (5 and 10 g kg?1) and grape seed extract (GSE) (10 g kg?1) on lipid oxidation and microbial (lactic acid bacteria, aerobic mesophiles and inoculated Listeria monocytogenes) characteristics of mortadella sausage at 4 °C for 21 days was evaluated. The release of total phenolics (TPs) into sausage was also assessed. RESULTS: All films exhibited antibacterial activity against L. monocytogenes on agar culture media. Chitosan films containing ZEO were the most effective on the growth of bacteria. The growth of L. monocytogenes was significantly inhibited by ZEO‐GSE containing films especially during storage of the sausages for 6 days. Aerobic mesophiles and lactic acid bacteria were the most sensitive and resistant groups to films by 0.1–1.1 and 0.1–0.7 log cycles reduction, respectively. Sausages wrapped by 10 g kg?1 GSE + 10 g kg?1 ZEO films had the lowest degrees of lipid oxidation, which was 23% lower than the control. The TPs of ZEO films decreased to zero after 6 days, whereas TPs of GSE films followed a slight decrease during the storage. CONCLUSION: Antimicrobial/antioxidant chitosan film could be developed by incorporating GSE and ZEO for extending the shelf life of mortadella sausage. The laboratory preparation procedure of a recently developed unsaturated polyester resin was followed to prepare the resin on a large scale (10- and 200-L pilot plant reactors). The process heating rate, reaction temperature, and agitator tip speed were kept constant on scale-up. The resin was successfully reproduced and its properties were unchanged upon scale-up. The effects of reaction temperature and inert gas flow rate on the polyesterification reaction rate were investigated. It was found that a 10°C increase in temperature or a 50% increase in the gas flow rate results in a 50% increase in the reaction rate.  相似文献

Poly(amido amine) (PAMAM) dendrimer‐polyethylene oxide (PEO) nanofibers as dendrimeric‐polymeric composite nanofibers were prepared via electrospinning of PEO solution containing PAMAM dendrimer. The resultant fibers were characterized by means of transmission electron microscopy (TEM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The morphology and thermal properties of PEO nanofibers with and without PAMAM dendrimer were compared and the effect of PAMAM concentration on morphology and thermal properties of the resultant fibers was studied. The fibers had a size range of about 400–1300 nanometer in diameter with aureole morphology in most regions. The phase change temperature, phase transition heat, and the crystallinity of the produced composite fibers were determined by DSC analyses. Despite many efforts into the study of fluids interaction in low salinity water flooding, they are not probing the basics of transport phenomena between the involved phases. This work is aimed to bring new understanding of fluid–fluid interaction during low salinity water flooding through a series of organized experiments in which a crude oil sample with known properties was kept in contact with different brine solutions of various ionic strengths. Measuring brine pH, conductivity and crude oil viscosity and density for a period of 45 days illustrates the strong effect of the contact time and ionic strength on the dissociation of polar components and physical properties of the crude oil and brine. Besides, the interfacial tension (IFT) measurements show that the interfacial interactions are affected by several competitive interfacial processes. By decreasing the ionic strength of the brine, the solubility of naphthenic acids in the aqueous solution increases, and hence, the conductivity and the pH of the aqueous phase decrease. To verify this important finding, UV–Vis spectroscopy and 1H NMR analysis were also performed on aged brine samples. Notably, there is an ionic strength of brine in which the lowest IFT is observed, while the other physical properties are remained relatively unchanged.  相似文献
