This paper presents a method for extracting, in the digital domain, the main characteristic parameters of an analog sine-wave signal. It is based on a double-modulation, square-wave and sigma-delta, together with a simple Digital Processing Algorithm. It leads to an efficient and robust approach very suitable for BIST applications. In this line, some considerations for on-chip implementation are addressed together with simulation results that validate the feasibility of the proposed approach.Diego Vázquez was born in El Coronil, Sevilla, Spain, in 1966. His research focuses on designing electronic mixed-signal circuits and systems including techniques for testability, specially in the domain of analog to digital conversion.Adoración Rueda joined the Department of Electronics and Electromagnetism at the University of Seville in 1976 as Assistant Professor, and obtained the Ph.D. degree in 1982. From 1984 to 1996 she was Associate Professor in that Department, where now holds the position of Full Professor in Electronics. In 1989 she became researcher at the Department of Analog Design of the National Microelectronics Center (CNM), now Institute of Microelectronics at Seville (IMSE).She has participated in several research projects financed by the Spanish CICYT and by different programs of the European Community. She has published about 135 papers in international journals, books and major conferences. In 1992 she won the Best Paper Award of the 10th IEEE VLSI Test Symposium. Her research interests are currently focused on the topics of Design and Test of Analog and Mixed-signal Circuits, Behavioral Modeling of Mixed-signal Circuits, and development of CAD tools.Jose Luis Huertas received the Licenciado en Física degree nd the Doctor en Ciencias Físicas degrees in 1969 and 1973, respectively, both from the University of Sevilla, Spain.From 1970 to 1971, he was with the Philips International Institute, Eindhoven, The Netherlands, as a postgraduate student. Since 1971, he has been with the Departamento de Electrónica y Electromagnetismo, University of Sevilla, Spain, where he is a Full Professor. He is also the Director of the Instituto de Microelectrónica de Sevilla, Centro Nacional de Microelectrónica de Sevilla, Seville, Spain. The male-produced sex pheromone from the Brazilian rice stalk stink bug Tibraca limbativentris is reported. Olfactometer bioassays with sexually mature males and females showed that males attracted females, which suggests that males release a sex pheromone. Males were not attracted to either sex, nor were females attractive to conspecific females. Attraction of the females to males was highest at night. The headspace volatiles collected from male and female bugs were analyzed by gas chromatography (GC) and GC–mass spectrometry. Two male-specific compounds were identified as isomers of 1′S-zingiberenol, whereas a series of defensive compounds were identified in extracts from both sexes. Zingiberenol has three chiral centers, and the nonselective syntheses used produced two groups of isomers, zingiberenol I containing four isomers, namely (1RS,4RS,1′R)-4-(1′,5′-dimethylhex-4′-enyl)-1-methylcyclohex-2-en-1-ol, and zingiberenol II containing the other four isomers, namely (1RS,4RS,1′S)-4-(1′,5′-dimethylhex-4′-enyl)-1-methylcyclohex-2-en-1-ol. Both groups of stereoisomers were more attractive than hexane controls. The absolute configuration of the insect-produced pheromonal components remains to be elucidated, but the 1′S stereochemistry was established for at least one of the isomers.  相似文献

The thermo‐mechanical properties of organogels developed by a complex mixture of n‐alkanes present in candelilla wax (CW) were investigated and compared with the ones of organogels developed by a pure n‐alkane, dotriacontane (C32). In both cases, the liquid phase used was safflower oil high in triolein (SFO) and the variables studied were two levels of gelator concentration (1 and 3%), cooling rates of 1 and 10 °C/min, and two gel setting temperatures, 5 and 25 °C (Tset). Based on comparisons of the organogels made with C32, the presence of minor molecular components in CW had a profound effect on the crystal habit of the n‐alkanes in CW‐based organogels, and therefore on their physical properties. Thus, independent of the cooling rate and Tset, C32 showed a higher solubility and higher self‐assembly capability in the SFO than CW. Nevertheless, for the same gelator concentration and time‐temperature conditions, C32 organogels had lower G' profiles than CW organogels. Additionally, independent of the type of gelator, more stable organogel structures were developed at Tset = 5 °C and using the lower cooling rate. The rheological behavior of the organogels was explained considering the formation of a rotator phase by the n‐alkanes, its solid‐solid transition, and their dependence as a function of the cooling rate and Tset. The results here obtained showed that it is possible to gelate SFO through organogelation with CW and without the use of trans fats.  相似文献

The influence of granulometry and organic treatment of a Brazilian montmorillonite (MMT) clay on the synthesis and properties of poly(styrene‐con‐butyl acrylate)/layered silicate nanocomposites was studied. Hybrid latexes of poly(styrene‐co‐butyl acrylate)/MMT were synthesized via miniemulsion polymerization using either sodium or organically modified MMT. Five clay granulometries ranging from clay particles smaller than 75 μm to colloidal size were selected. The size of the clay particles was evaluated by specific surface area measurements (BET). Cetyl trimethyl ammonium chloride was used as an organic modifier to enhance the clay compatibility with the monomer phase before polymerization and to improve the clay distribution and dispersion within the polymeric matrix after polymerization. The sodium and organically modified natural clays as well as the composites were characterized by X‐ray diffraction analysis. The latexes were characterized by dynamic light scattering. The mechanical, thermal, and rheological properties of the composites obtained were characterized by dynamical‐mechanical analysis, thermogravimetry, and small amplitude oscillatory shear tests, respectively. The results showed that smaller the size of the organically modified MMT, the higher the degree of exfoliation of nanoplatelets. The tensile performance of coated woven fabrics under multiaxial loads is examined in the present study. Two groups of experiments were conducted to investigate the influences of the configuration of the fabric specimen and the loading speed on the multiaxial tensile properties of the fabrics. The configuration of the specimen for the multiaxial tensile tests is identified as gear‐shape with large arm widths. A loading speed of lower than 20 mm/min is suggested to obtain the tensile properties of the coated woven fabrics under multiaxial loads. The tensile performances of coated woven fabrics under uni‐, bi‐, and multiaxial loads were compared. We found that the tensile performances under bi‐ and multiaxial loads are much better than those under uniaxial loads. Therefore, for the application of the coated woven fabrics in lightweight structures, biaxial or multiaxial loading conditions will be necessary. Experiments on the specimens with an initial crack in the center under multiaxial loads show that, by comparison with other loading directions, the tensile properties in warp direction of the coated woven fabrics play an important role in the failure performance and crack propagation under multiaxial loads. To eliminate the dependence on the mechanical properties in warp direction, the balance of the two principle directions of coated woven fabrics should be improved. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Optimization of stormwater filtration at the urban/watershed interface   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Environmental pollution from cities is a major ecological problem attributed to contaminated runoff from nonpoint sources. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's guidance on implementation of total maximum daily loads (TMDL) does not adequately cover methods to improve waters impaired by nonpoint sources. To comply with TMDLs, cities may install filters in curb inlets, or use other Best Management Practices (BMPs). We tested 10 different filters and found their effectiveness in retaining pollutants ranged from 0 to >90%, depending on combinations of pollutant types (metals, pathogens, and total suspended sediments (TSS)) and filter materials. Hence, the decision to deploy filters into curb inlets must consider land use patterns associated with specific categories of pollutants generated within cities. We developed a geographic information system (GIS)-enabled model for estimating and mitigating emissions of pollutants from urban regions into watersheds. The model uses land use categories and pollutant loadings to optimize strategic placement of filters to accommodate TMDLs. For example, in a city where the landuse pattern generates 4 x 10(6) kg of TSS, 55 kg of Cd, and 2 x 10(3) kg of Zn per year into 498 curb inlets that discharge into a sensitive watershed, the optimized placement of 137, 92, and 148 filters can achieve TMDL endpoints for each pollutant, respectively. We show further that 158 strategically placed filters effectively meet the requirements simultaneously for all three pollutants, a result at least 5 times more effective than random placement of filters.  相似文献

The process of mammalian spermatogenesis involves both mitosis and meiosis at the same developmental age. Most previous studies have focused on mitotic spindle orientation during development, but not during meiotic division. Therefore, we asked whether there is a difference between mitotic and meiotic germ cell spindle orientation during rat spermatogenesis. Our results showed that mitotic spindles of spermatogonia were mainly oriented with angles ranging from 60 to 90 degrees, perpendicular in relation to the basement membrane of the seminiferous tubules. On the other hand, meiotic spindles showed a random orientation. Nocodazole treatment (at a concentration that depolymerizes only astral microtubules) induced a significant increase in cells with an angle between 0 and 30 degrees (parallel) in relation to the basement membrane. Meiotic spindles did not show a significant change in their orientation after the Nocodazole treatment. Therefore, our results suggest differences between the mechanisms controlling positioning and orientation of mitotic and meiotic spindles during rat spermatogenesis. It seems that a phylogenetically conserved programme controls the mitotic spindle orientation in organisms ranging from worms to mammals.  相似文献

Exercise training not only improves the plasma lipid profile but also reduces risk of developing coronary heart disease. We investigate whether plasma lipids and high density lipoprotein (HDL) metabolism are affected by aerobic training and whether the high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) levels at baseline influence exercise-induced changes in HDL. Seventy-one male sedentary volunteers were evaluated and allocated in two subgroups, according to the HLD-C levels (< or >40 mg/dL). Participants underwent an 18-week aerobic training period. Blood was sampled before and after training for biochemical analysis. Plasma lipids, apolipoproteins, HDL diameter, and VO2 peak were determined. Lipid transfers to HDL were determined in vitro by incubating plasma samples with a donor lipid artificial nanoemulsion. After the 18-week period of aerobic training, the VO2 peak increased, while the mean body mass index (BMI) decreased. HDL-C concentration was higher after the training period, but low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) and non-HDL-C did not change. The transfer of esterified cholesterol and phospholipids was greater after exercise training, but the triacylglycerol and unesterified cholesterol transfers were unchanged. The HDL particle diameter increased after aerobic training in all participants. When the participants were separated in low-HDL and normal-HDL groups, the postaerobic exercise increment in HDL-C was higher in the low-HDL group, while the transfer of esterified cholesterol was lower. In conclusion, aerobic exercise training increases the lipid transfers to HDL, as measured by an in vitro method, which possibly contributes to the classical elevation of the HDL-C associated with training.  相似文献

Vanadium nitride(VN) was deposited by DC-sputtering on a vertically aligned carbon nanotube(CNTs)template for the purpose of nano-structuration. This led to the fabrication of hierarchically composite electrodes consisting of porous and nanostructured VN grown on vertically aligned CNTs in a nano-treelike configuration for micro-supercapacitor application. The electrodes show excellent performance with an areal capacitance as high as 37.5 m F cm~(-2) at a scan rate of 2 mV s~(-1) in a 0.5 MK_2SO_4 mild electrolyte solution. Furthermore, the capacitance decay was only 15% after 20,000 consecutive cycles. Moreover,the capacitance was found to increase with VN deposit thickness. The X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analyses of the electrodes before and after cycling suggest that the oxide layers that form at the VN surface is the responsible for the redox energy storage in this material. Such electrodes can compete with other transition metal nitride based electrodes for micro-supercapacitors.  相似文献
