In addition to their professional social media accounts, individuals are increasingly using their personal profiles and casual posts to communicate their identities to work colleagues. They do this in order to ‘stand out from the crowd’ and to signal attributes that are difficult to showcase explicitly in a work setting. Existing studies have tended to treat personal posts viewed in a professional context as a problem, since they can threaten impression management efforts. These accounts focus on the attempts of individuals to separate their life domains on social media. In contrast, we present the narratives of professional IT workers in India who intentionally disrupt the boundaries between personal and professional profiles in order to get noticed by their employers. Drawing on the dramaturgical vocabulary of Goffman (1959) we shed light on how individuals cope with increased levels of self-disclosure on social media. We argue that their self-presentations can be likened to post-modern performances in which the traditional boundaries between actor and audience are intentionally unsettled. These casual posts communicate additional personal traits that are not otherwise included in professional presentations. Since there are no strict boundaries between formal front-stage and relaxed back-stage regions in these types of performance, a liminal mental state is often used, which enables a better assessment of the type of information to present on social media.  相似文献

The organic field effect transistors (OFETs) with regioregular poly 3-hexylthiophene (rr-P3HT) and hexafluoro-2-propanol-substituted polysiloxane (SXFA) as an organic layer, have been used for detection of explosive vapors with excellent sensitivity of less than 70 ppt for 1,3,5-trinitro-1,3,5-triazacyclohexane (RDX) and less than 100 ppt for 2,4,6-trinitrotoluene (TNT). The sensor response (% change in saturation current) was found to be 125 ± 10% for TNT and 90 ± 10% for RDX. It was also observed that the incorporation of CuII tetraphenylporphyrin (CuTPP) into rr-P3HT/SXFA matrix resulted in an improved selectivity for the vapors of nitro based analytes (TNT, RDX and DNB) as compared to the vapors of non explosive oxidizing agents such as nitrobenzene (NB), benzoquinone (BQ) and benzophenone (BP). This is attributed to the increased binding of the vapors containing nitro compound to the thin films due to the presence of CuTTP. Spin coated thin films were further characterized by Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) and Electrostatic Force Microscopy (EFM).  相似文献

A number of coupled particle–element and hybrid particle–element methods have been developed for the simulation of hypervelocity impact problems to avoid certain disadvantages associated with the use of pure continuum‐based or pure particle‐based methods. To date these methods have employed spherical particles. In recent work a hybrid formulation has been extended to the ellipsoidal particle case. A model formulation approach based on Lagrange's equations, with particle entropies serving as generalized coordinates, avoids the angular momentum conservation problems which have been reported with ellipsoidal smooth particle hydrodynamics models. Dendritic Pd with corrugated surfaces, obtained by a novel AC technique, exhibits an exceptionally high catalytic activity for the oxidation of formic acid because of the presence of a high density of surface steps. The formation of twinned dendrites leads to a predominance of exposed 111 facets with a high density of surface steps as evident from high resolution electron microscopy investigations. These surface sites provide active sites for the adsorption of the formic acid molecules, thereby enhancing the reaction rate. Control experiments by varying the time of deposition reveal the formation of partially grown dendrites at shorter times indicating that the dendrites were formed by growth rather than particle attachment. Our deposition method opens up interesting possibilities to produce anisotropic nanostructures with corrugated surfaces by exploiting the perturbations involved in the growth process.  相似文献

This paper explores in detail, the microstructures and thermoelectric properties of Te-rich and Te-poor (Bi,Sb)2Te3 alloys. We show that tuning the composition of ternary Bi–Sb–Te type alloys allows us to synthesize a range of microstructures containing a primary solid solution of (Bi,Sb)2Te3 with varying amounts of Te solid solution or a (Bi,Sb)Te compound. Te exists as a constituent of the multilayer domain while (Bi,Sb)Te appears in the thin intercellular regions of the (Bi,Sb)2Te3 dendritic cells. The presence of Te imparts an n-type behavior to the composite while the (Bi,Sb)2Te3 with a small amount of (Bi,Sb)Te exhibits p-type properties. A maximum ZT value of ≈0.4 at 425 K was achieved, opening up the possibility of using these alloys for thermoelectric device applications.  相似文献

Transparent conducting magnesium indium oxide films (MgIn2O4) were deposited on to quartz substrates without a buffer layer at an optimized deposition temperature of 450 °C to achieve high transmittance in the visible spectral range and electrical conductivity in the low temperature region. Magnesium ions are distributed over the tetrahedral and octahedral sites of the inverted spinel structure with preferential orientation along (3 1 1) Miller plane. The possible mechanism that promotes conductivity in this system is the charge transfer between the resident divalent (Mg2+) and trivalent (In3+) cations in addition to the available oxygen vacancies in the lattice. A room temperature electrical conductivity of 1.5 × 10−5 S cm−1 and an average transmittance >75% have been achieved. Hall measurements showed n-type conductivity with electron mobility value 0.95 × 10−2 cm2 V−1 s−1 and carrier concentration 2.7 × 1019 cm−3. Smoothness of the film surface observed through atomic force microscope measurements favors this material for gas sensing and opto-electronic device development.  相似文献

Recently, a number of commercial digital mobile satellite communications systems have become operational, and the introduction of more systems is imminent. The voice transmission quality of the Inmarsat-aeronautical, Inmarsat-M and Inmarsat-B systems was evaluated and compared with the quality of the Inmarsat-A analogue communication system on the basis of subjective listener opinion assessments. From this evaluation it can be concluded that, under nominal operating conditions, the current generation of digital mobile systems may offer a perceived performance that surpasses that of the older Inmarsat-A analogue system, at least when measured in terms of transmission quality.  相似文献

Amino acid - carboxylic acid complexes provide useful information in relation to molecular interactions in present day biological systems and to prebiotic self-organisation. The crystal structures of the complexes of maleic acid with DL- arginine (orthorhombic; Pca2(1); a=15.9829, b=5.4127, c=16.1885; R=0.0522 for 956 reflections) and L- arginine (triclinic; P1; a=5.2641, b=8.0388, c=9.7860, alpha=106.197, beta=97.275, gamma=101.64; R=0.039 for 1749 reflections) have been determined. The complexes are made up of positively charged zwitterionic arginine molecules and negatively charged semi-maleate ions which contain an intramolecular symmetric O-H-O hydrogen bond. In both the structures, the amino acid molecules aggregate into layers. In each layer, S2 head-to-tail sequences are interconnected through specific intermolecular interactions between alpha-carboxylate and guanidyl groups, an arrangement observed for the first time in crystal structures involving arginine. The carboxylate-guanidyl interactions are of different types in the two complexes and consequently aggregation patterns in them exhibit substantial differences. Interactions between the amino acid layers involve the semi-maleate ions in both the complexes. In addition, water-bridges also exist in the L complex. The full potential of the guanidyl group for specific interactions is realized in both the structures. The L complex contains an array of water-mediated salt bridges. The structures demonstrate that the effect of chirality on molecular aggregation can span a wide range.  相似文献

Hollow Microspheres of hydroxyapatite-polymer composite can be used as carriers in drug delivery and fillers in tissue engineering. Based on the concept of soft chemistry, a battery of technique is available in the literature to synthesize hollow microspheres, however, an economically viable synthesis route, having good control over the microarchitect and easy to be scaled up, is yet to be developed. Polymer matrix mediated synthesis of inorganic nanoparticles is known to synthesize nanoparticles with controlled morphology and dimensions. It is termed as biomimetic synthesis. Integrating the biomimetic synthesis of nano-particles and spray drying techniques, a novel process of producing hydroxyapatite-polymer composite hollow microspheres is briefly discussed here.  相似文献
