A method was developed for the enrichment of either the cis9,trans11 or the trans10,cis12 isomer of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) from a synthetic CLA mixture consisting predominantly of these isomers in equal amounts. Lipases were screened for their ability to selectively esterify one isomer at a significantly greater rate than the other isomer. An immobilized lipase from Rhizomucor miehei was nonselective, but a lipase from Geotrichum candidum esterified the cis9,trans11 isomer more rapidly than the trans10,cis12 isomer. This selectivity was exploited at the kilogram scale to prepare an ester fraction with a content of 91% cis9,trans11 CLA and an unreacted free fatty acid fraction consisting of 82% trans10,cis12 CLA, based on total CLA content. The components of the reaction mixture were separated by molecular distillation. Each enriched fraction was then incorporated into palm oil triglycerides by interesterification with the non-selective lipase from R. miehei. Two triglyceride fats resulted, which were enriched in either cis9,trans11 CLA (26.5% cis9,trans11 and 1.7% trans10,cis12) or trans10,cis12 CLA (3.5% cis9,trans11 and 22.9% trans10,cis12).  相似文献

Rats with complete excitotoxic hippocampal lesions or selective damage to the dorsal or ventral hippocampus were compared with controls on measures of contextually conditioned freezing in a signaled shock procedure and on a spatial water-maze task. Complete and ventral lesions produced equivalent, significant anterograde deficits in conditioned freezing relative to both dorsal lesions and controls. Complete hippocampal lesions impaired water-maze performance; in contrast, ventral lesions improved performance relative to the dorsal group, which was itself unexpectedly unimpaired relative to controls. Thus, the partial lesion effects seen in the 2 tasks never resembled each other. Anterograde impairments in contextual freezing and spatial learning do not share a common underlying neural basis; complete and ventral lesions may induce anterograde contextual freezing impairments by enhancing locomotor activity under conditions of mild stress. A novel gas-assisted jetting process, term fine liquid blowing, is used to improve the production rate of making nanofiber from polymer solution. A high-velocity gas stream is introduced through a central protruding core needle, while a liquid is introduce via an adjacent satellite needle. This arrangement avoids passing the high-velocity gas over the surface of the slow flowing liquid and results in the stable acceleration of the liquid flow on its approach to the tip of the core needle, where it interacts with the high-velocity gas, initiating numerous liquid jets at elevated Reynolds numbers of up to more than 800. The method was used to produce poly (vinyl alcohol) nonwoven fiber mats at polymer solution feed rates of up to 900 mL h, surpassing other conventional methods. The produced fibers were of diameters ranging from 96 to 430 nm. Three studies investigated implicit biases, and their modifiability, against overweight persons. In Study 1 (N=144), the authors demonstrated strong implicit anti-fat attitudes and stereotypes using the Implicit Association Test, despite no explicit anti-fat bias. When participants were informed that obesity is caused predominantly by overeating and lack of exercise, higher implicit bias relative to controls was produced; informing participants that obesity is mainly due to genetic factors did not result in lower bias. In Studies 2A (N=90) and 2B (N=63), participants read stories of discrimination against obese persons to evoke empathy. This did not lead to lower bias compared with controls but did produce diminished implicit bias among overweight participants, suggesting an in-group bias. In a cross-sectional study 142 male and 139 female workers participated in a self-report questionnaire and a clinical examination. The aim of this study was to use the cervico-thoracic ratio (CTR), a clinical method for measuring segmental mobility between C7 and T5, to evaluate the influence of segmental mobility in neck-shoulder pain and different subjectively experienced symptoms. The study showed that reduced relative mobility at levels C7-T1 and T1-T2 significantly predicted neck-shoulder pain and the symptom weakness in the hands. The strongest relationship between segmental mobility and symptoms was found among subjects classified as having an inverse C7-T1 function, defined as equal or less mobility in motion segment C7-T1 compared to T1-T2. Reduced mobility explained 14% of neck-shoulder pain and 15% of weakness in the hands. It is suggested that deviation from synchronous distribution of mobility between motion segments C7-T1 and T1-T2 might be a factor provoking joint mechano receptors.  相似文献

Changes in extracellular levels of dopamine (DA), DA metabolites DOPAC and HVA, and the serotonin metabolite 5-HIAA, were measured by microdialysis in the rat nucleus accumbens (n. acc) after treatments with serotonin (5-HT)1A (8-OH-DPAT) or 5-HT1B (RU 24969 and S-CM-GTNH2) receptor agonists. Subcutaneous injections of RU 24969 (0.02-2 mg/kg) dose-dependently decreased 5-HIAA levels (0 to -38%), and also induced long-lasting increases in DA levels (0 to +37%) and DOPAC (+11% at the dose 0.5 mg/kg) in the shell of the n. acc, whereas 8-OH-DPAT (0.25 and 0.5 mg/kg) reduced 5-HIAA levels (-25%) and very slightly increased DOPAC at the lower dose (+4%), but had no effect on DA levels. Three weeks after interruption of the subicular efferent projections, the increase in DA levels previously observed after systemic injections of RU 24969 was abolished. Microinjections of RU 24969 (10 micrograms/microliter) or S-CM-GTNH2 (3 micrograms/microliter) into the ventral subicular area reproduced the effects of systemic injections of RU 24969 cn DA levels and increased DOPAC (+13%; +19%, respectively) and HVA levels (+23%; +24%), with no significant change in 5-HIAA. It is concluded that: (1) serotonin interacts with the mesolimbic dopaminergic system through 5-HT1B, but not 5-HT1A, receptors: and (2) serotonin interaction with the mesolimbic dopaminergic system involves postjunctional 5-HT1B heteroreceptors located in the ventral subicular area, which modulate the activity of glutamatergic hippocampo-accumbens pathways and only secondarily alter DA levels in the n. acc. The possible relevance of these results for schizophrenia is discussed.  相似文献

Four related experiments studied operant performance of mice on differential reinforcement of low rates of responding (DRL) paradigms. Experiment 1 showed that excitotoxic hippocampal lesions impaired performance of a 10-s DRL schedule (DRL-10). Experiments 2 and 3 showed that GluR-A AMPA receptor subunit knockout mice, which are deficient in CA3-CA1 long-term potentiation (LTP), were markedly impaired at 15 s (DRL-15), but less impaired at DRL-10. Experiment 4 compared DRL-15 performance in mice from the 2 strains from which the GluR-A colony was derived and showed that they did not differ. The results show that GluR-A-containing AMPA receptors are required for normal performance on hippocampus-dependent, nonspatial working memory tasks, consistent with a role for GluR-A in the temporal encoding (what happened when) of nonspatial information. Epoxy-crosslinker curing reactions and the extent of the reactions are critical parameters that influence the performance of each epoxy system. The curing of an epoxy prepolymer with an amine functional group may be accompanied by side reactions such as etherification. Commercial epoxy prepolymers were cured with different commercial amines at ambient as well as at elevated temperatures. Singularly, only epoxy–amine reactions were observed with diglycidyl ether of bisphenol-A (DGEBA)-based epoxides in our research even upon post-curing at 200°C. Etherification side reaction was found to occur at a cure temperature of 200°C in epoxides possessing a tertiary amine moiety. A combined goal of our research was to understand the effect of tougheners on the cure of epoxy–amine blend. To discern the effect of tougheners on the cure, core–shell rubber (CSR) particles were incorporated into the epoxy–amine blend. It was observed that CSR particles did not restrict the system from proceeding to complete reaction of epoxy moieties. Besides, CSR particles were found to accelerate the epoxy-amine reaction at a lower level of epoxy conversion. The lower activation energy of epoxy–amine reaction of CSR incorporated system compared to control supported the catalytic effect of CSR particles on the epoxy-amine reaction of epoxy prepolymer and amine blends.  相似文献

The radiation of a cylindrical-surface-wave mode which propagates towards the mouth of a semi- infinite cylindrical waveguide which supports surface waves is considered. This semi-infinite cylindrical waveguide is symmetrically located inside an infinite cylindrical waveguide whose surfaces are lined with an absorbent material. The whole system constitutes a new bifurcated cylindrical-waveguide boundary-value problem that has application in acoustics and electromagnetism. The mathematical model results in a scalar Wiener–Hopf problem which can be rigorously solved to give a closed-form solution.  相似文献

A vegetable oil based high performance associative thickener has been designed and synthesized from a hydroxyl functional soybean oil derivative (hydroxyl value 159 mg KOH/g). An isocyanate‐terminated prepolymer was synthesized from polyethylene glycol (PEG) and isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI), and end‐capped with the hydroxyl functional soybean oil derivative to prepare a hydrophobically modified ethoxylated polyurethane (HEUR) thickener. The synthesis was monitored by infrared spectroscopy via the isocyanate peak at 2258–2270 cm?1. Thickener efficiency was tested with a commercial styrene–acrylic latex UCAR? 443, an acrylic latex Acronal® Optive 130 and an alkyd emulsion WorléeSol® E 150W. High thickening efficiency was noted in the low shear region, e.g., 0.5 wt % HEUR loading with UCAR 443 increased viscosity from 0.66 P to 3.06 P at a shear rate of 1333 s?1. The effect of soybean oil fatty amide based rheology modifier as additive in coating was evaluated in terms of gloss, viscosity, sag resistance, and flow and leveling properties. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
