The ASSOM is a self-organising neural network with the capability of adapting to linear subspaces. Here we propose two new methods to train the ASSOM network. A nonlinear system of equations is derived for network training. This system can be solved by a gradient-based approach or by the Levenberg–Marquardt method. Each of these two approaches gives a different learning rule. A comparison is carried out among the original Kohonens method and the proposed learning rules. Experimental results are reported, including a convergence speed experiment and a speech processing application, which show that the new learning rules have better performance than the original one.  相似文献

The metabolism of glycogen and trehalose was analysed in a wine yeast strain fermenting at 25 and 13 degrees C. Trehalose and glycogen degradation were completed during the lag phase of fermentation. Ammonia was taken up rapidly and once it had been reduced to negligible amounts, the synthesis of trehalose started. Glycogen followed a similar pattern. If trehalose synthesis was taken as a stress indicator, the fermentation at 13 degrees C could not be considered stressful because the maximum concentrations are similar at both temperatures. In industrial fermentations, and after a preadaptation in grape must for several hours at 18 degrees C, the lag phase was reduced significantly, and this may be why trehalose and glycogen were completely depleted at the beginning of the low temperature fermentation. Various preadaptation conditions were tested so that their influence on trehalose and glycogen degradation could be determined. The presence of fermentable carbon sources, such as glucose or fructose, triggered the mobilisation and use of trehalose. However, just increasing the osmotic pressure did not reduce the trehalose content. No such differences were observed in glycogen metabolism.  相似文献

Gelation properties of chicken breast and thigh muscle homogenates at a protein concentration of 4.5% under different pH conditions (5.80–6.60) and those of myofibrillar proteins at a protein concentration of 2% were compared to determine the influence of muscle fibre types on gelation. The optimal gelling pH for breast muscle homogenates (pH 6.30) was slightly higher than that for thigh muscle homogenates (pH 5.80–6.30), a similar trend was found for the isolated chicken myofibrillar proteins (pH 6.00 for breast and 5.50 for leg). Similarly, the pH values at which breast muscle homogenate gels were weaker (pH<6.20) or stronger (pH6.20) than thigh muscle homogenate gels were higher when compared with chicken breast and leg myofibrillar protein gels (pH<5.80 and pH>5.90, respectively).  相似文献

The validity of the official SEUROP bovine carcass classification to grade light carcasses by means of three well reputed Artificial Intelligence algorithms has been tested to assess possible differences in the behavior of the classifiers in affecting the repeatability of grading. We used two training sets consisting of 65 and 162 examples respectively of light and standard carcass classifications, including up to 28 different attributes describing carcass conformation. We found that the behavior of the classifiers is different when they are dealing with a light or a standard carcass. Classifiers follow SEUROP rules more rigorously when they grade standard carcasses using attributes characterizing carcass profiles and muscular development. However, when they grade light carcasses, they include attributes characterizing body size or skeletal development. A reconsideration of the SEUROP classification system for light carcasses may be recommended to clarify and standardize this specific beef market in the European Union. In addition, since conformation of light and standard carcasses can be considered different traits, this could affect sire evaluation programs to improve carcass conformation scores from data from markets presenting a great variety of ages and weights of slaughtered animals.  相似文献

Extracts of Amphimallon solstitiale (L.), a well known, widely distributed and rather common European scarab beetle, were analyzed by GC-MS and GC-EAD. Acetoin -(R):(S) < 9:1 - as well as 2,3-butanediol -(2R,3R):(2S,3S) :meso = 1:1:9 - were present in extracts of both males and females. Although (2S,3S)-butanediol did not show any EAD activity, the other compounds elicited strong responses exclusively with male antennae. In contrast, several EAD active green leaf volatiles were detected equally well by male and female antennae. During preliminary field bioassays, (R)-acetoin was highly attractive to swarming males, whereas neither rac-acetoin nor the 2,3-butanediols showed activity. Therefore, (R)-acetoin is the female sex pheromone of A. solstitiale.  相似文献

The saturated heat capacities of benzene and of some linear (toluene, ethylbenzene, propylbenzene, butylbenzene, hexylbenzene, 1-phenylheptane, and 1-phenylhexadecane) and branched (m-xylene, cumene, sec-butylbenzene, tert-butylbenzene, and isobutylbenzene) alkyl-benzenes have been measured. A Micro DSC II from Setaram (France) with batch cells designed in our laboratory, and the scanning or continuous method, have been used to perform the measurements. The estimated uncertainty of the saturated heat capacities was better than 0.3%. In the literature there exists c sat(T) data for some of the liquids studied. Agreement with our measurements is better than 0.5%. For linear alkyl-benzenes and for each temperature, the variation in the saturated heat capacity with the alkyl length is nearly linear. The selected branched alkyl-benzenes are isomers of the linear alkyl-benzenes studied; accordingly, the influence of molecular structure on the saturated heat capacities has been analyzed.  相似文献

Spatial resolution and contrast sensitivity requirements for some types of medical image techniques, including mammography, delay the implementation of new digital technologies, namely, computer-aided diagnosis, picture archiving and communications systems, or teleradiology. In order to reduce transmission time and storage cost, an efficient data-compression scheme to reduce digital data without significant degradation of medical image quality is needed. In this study, we have applied two region-based compression methods to digital mammograms. In both methods, after segmenting the breast region, a region-based discrete wavelet transform is applied, followed by an object-based extension of the set partitioning in hierarchical trees (OB-SPIHT) coding algorithm in one method, and an object-based extension of the set partitioned embedded block (OB-SPECK) coding algorithm in the other. We have compared these specific implementations against the original SPIHT and the new standard JPEG 2000, both using reversible and irreversible filters, on five digital mammograms compressed at rates ranging from 0.1 to 1.0 bit per pixel (bbp). Distortion was evaluated for all images and compression rates by the peak signal-to-noise ratio. For all images, OB-SPIHT and OB-SPECK performed substantially better than the traditional SPIHT and JPEG 2000, and a slight difference in performance was found between them. A comparison applying SPIHT and the standard JPEG 2000 to the same set of images with the background pixels fixed to zero was also carried out, obtaining similar implementation as region-based methods. For digital mammography, region-based compression methods represent an improvement in compression efficiency from full-image methods, also providing the possibility of encoding multiple regions of interest independently.  相似文献

We propose a concept for InGaAsP-InP 1.55-microm lasers integrated with spot-size converters based on modal interference between the modes of the structure formed by an active waveguide and an underlying fiber-matched antiresonant reflecting optical waveguide. Simulation results show that the spot-size converters exhibit low transformation loss, and narrowed far-field emission patterns (10 degrees x 20 degrees) and reduce the coupling loss to standard single-mode fibers from 8 to 2.6 dB over lengths approximately 200 microm shorter than the adiabatic concept. A tolerant design to fabrication variations is also proposed, which could be realized by standard processing techniques.  相似文献
