Following Deissler's approach[1], four-point, four-time correlation equations for the concentration of a dilute contaminant undergoing a first order chemical reaction, have been obtained by neglecting the quintuple correlations. Context: Nanosuspensions (NSs) of poorly water-soluble drugs are known to increase the oral bioavailability.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to develop NS of efavirenz (EFV) and to investigate its potential in enhancing the oral bioavailability of EFV.

Materials and methods: EFV NS was prepared using the media milling technique. The Box–Behnken design was used for optimization of the factors affecting EFV NS. Sodium lauryl sulfate and PVP K30 were used to stabilize the NS. Freeze-dried NS was completely re-dispersed with double-distilled filtered water.

Results: Mean particle size and zeta potential of the optimized NS were found to be 320.4?±?3.62?nm and –32.8?±?0.4 mV, respectively. X-ray diffraction and differential scanning calorimetric analysis indicated no phase transitions. Rate and extent of drug dissolution in the dissolution medium for NS was significantly higher compared to marketed formulation. The parallel artificial membrane permeability assay revealed that NS successfully enhanced the permeation of EFV. Results of in situ absorption studies showed a significant difference in absorption parameters such as Ka, t1/2 and uptake percentages between lyophilized NS and marketed formulation of EFV. Oral bioavailability of EFV in rabbits resulting from NS was increased by 2.19-fold compared to the marketed formulation.

Conclusion: Thus, it can be concluded that NS formulation of EFV can provide improved oral bioavailability due to enhanced solubility, dissolution velocity, permeability and hence absorption.  相似文献

Internationalization of technology remains a subject of considerable interest to analysts and policy makers in the 1990s. This paper is a modest attempt at providing some new empirical observations for debate and discussion on one dimension of the subject, namely, the nature and extent of the production of technology undertaken by large firms outside their home base. The evidence, based on the US patenting activities of the world's largest 539 firms (based in 13 countries and covering 16 product groups), shows that for an overwhelming majority of them technology production remains close to the home base. It also shows that firms devoting a large proportion of their resources to technology are amongst the least internationalized. When these firms do go abroad, there is no systematic relationship between their relative presence in a technical field and the relative strength of the host country. The analysis points to the dangers of generalizing on the basis of anecdotal evidence from a small sample of firms from a particular country or sector  相似文献

Cities in developing countries seldom consider the cost increases that regulations impose on development. To build legal housing, developers must meet a high minimum cost threshold established by mandatory standards. Many standards impose costs on building construction, make them less affordable to low-income households, deprive them access to legally built housing, and fuel the formation of slums. This study analyses the impact of relaxing a few mandatory building and site planning regulations on the cost of small two-room homes in Ahmedabad by developing two alternative layouts for the same site, one in accordance with prevalent regulations, and another after modifying a few regulations. It shows that rationalizing regulations can reduce housing cost by 34% and increase supply by as much as 75% without significantly lowering quality or compromising safety. It also shows that for a large portion of poor households, the costs imposed by mandatory standards are not trivial and have a high impact on the affordability of legally built housing. It recommends that if municipal authorities are interested in tackling the rapid growth of slums by expanding the supply of affordable housing, they should critically examine their building regulations and modify them to address the housing needs of their low-income residents.  相似文献

This document summarizes the supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system that allows communication with, and controlling the output of, various I/O devices in the renewable energy systems and components test facility RESLab. This SCADA system differs from traditional SCADA systems in that it supports a continuously changing operating environment depending on the test to be performed. The SCADA System is based on the concept of having one Master I/O Server and multiple client computer systems. This paper describes the main features and advantages of this dynamic SCADA system, the connections of various field devices to the master I/O server, the device servers, and numerous software features used in the system. The system is based on the graphical programming language "LabVIEW" and its "Datalogging and Supervisory Control" (DSC) module. The DSC module supports a real-time database called the "tag engine," which performs the I/O operations with all field devices attached to the master I/O server and communications with the other tag engines running on the client computers connected via a local area network. Generic and detailed communication block diagrams illustrating the hierarchical structure of this SCADA system are presented. The flow diagram outlining a complete test performed using this system in one of its standard configurations is described.  相似文献

Phase-contrast imaging in the tapping mode atomic force microscopy (AFM) is a powerful method in surface characterization. This method can provide fine details about rough surfaces, which are normally obscured in topographic imaging. To illustrate some of the capabilities of phase-contrast imaging, AFM studies of Pt/Ti/SiO2/Si and Pb(Zr0.52Ti0.48)O3 (PZT) films were carried out. Phase-contrast imaging revealed fine details of their microstructures, including grain boundaries, triple junctions and twinning, which could not be detected by topographic imaging. The studies showed that phase-contrast imaging is capable of providing superior information about surface characteristics when compared to the standard topographic imaging.  相似文献

Engineering properties of sands mainly depend on the integrity of the particles, which in turn has a strong bearing on their crushing strength. Seven different Aegean sands were tested for mineralogy, particle shape, size and specific gravity and the influence of aspect ratio, particle composition, particle shape and size on the crushing strength was examined. As the Aegean sands have a small range of sphericity and roundness, crushing strength tests were also performed on five Anatolian sands. A multiple regression analysis was carried out and an equation proposed to determine the crushing strength value of the Aegean sands. The computed values were found to be in good agreement with those obtained from the experimental investigations. It is concluded that the equation is sufficiently accurate to be a useful, time- and cost-effective way of obtaining crushing strength estimations at the preliminary stage of site investigations.  相似文献

Studies are presented for the control of time-dependent effects of creep and shrinkage in steel-concrete composite frames with pre-cast concrete slab for both shored and un-shored constructions. A developed hybrid procedure has been used for carrying out the studies. The procedure accounts for creep, shrinkage and progressive cracking in concrete slab panels. Two frames, a single storey and a five storey frame are considered. It is shown that, for both the types of constructions, shored and un-shored, the increase in bending moments and mid-span deflections can be controlled to a significant degree, without putting constraints on design parameters, by simply delaying the time of mobilization of composite action between the pre-cast concrete slab panels and the steel section. It is also found that though there is insignificant effect of type of construction on bending moments, the percentage change in mid-span deflection due to creep and shrinkage is significantly higher for shored construction.  相似文献

Jatropha curcas is an important non feed crop, increasingly important as a biofuel crop. It is hardy and resistant to different stress conditions in the field. In the wastelands of Gujarat (India), it is being grown for land reclamation and for socio-economic benefits. The long coastline in this state also promotes the growth of a large number of halophytes. Exploiting the genetic resource of Jatropha and halophytes for drought and salt-induced gene is an important area of research. For the isolation of genes and to study the molecular mechanism a good qualitative and quantitative RNA is a prerequisite. Jatropha leaves have latex, and therefore isolating RNA using guanidine thiocyanate or cetyltrimethylammonium bromide did not yield desirable quality of RNA. This paper reports a very simple and economical protocol for the isolation of good quality RNA from Jatropha and a few halophytes. The sodium dodecyl sulphate was used as a detergent for lysis of plant cells in the extraction buffer along with bentonite, which inhibits the ribonuclease’s activity. The addition of water saturated phenol in mortar-pestle, during grinding, facilitated better homogenisation of the tissues. Absolute RNA precipitation was obtained with the help of 2-butoxyethanol. Further this RNA was used successfully in preparation of complementary DNA and subsequently used for gene isolation.  相似文献
