1 Scope
Shellfish allergy is an increasing global health priority, frequently affecting adults. Molluscs are an important shellfish group causing food allergy but knowledge of their allergens and cross‐reactivity is limited. Optimal diagnosis of mollusc allergy enabling accurate advice on food avoidance is difficult. Allergens of four frequently ingested Asia‐Pacific molluscs are characterized: Sydney rock oyster (Saccostrea glomerata), blue mussel (Mytilus edulis), saucer scallop (Amusium balloti), and southern calamari (Sepioteuthis australis), examining cross‐reactivity between species and with blue swimmer crab tropomyosin, Por p 1.2 Methods and results
IgE ELISA showed that cooking increased IgE reactivity of mollusc extracts and basophil activation confirmed biologically relevant IgE reactivity. Immunoblotting demonstrated strong IgE reactivity of several proteins including one corresponding to heat‐stable tropomyosin in all species (37–40 kDa). IgE‐reactive Sydney rock oyster proteins were identified by mass spectrometry, and the novel major oyster tropomyosin allergen was cloned, sequenced, and designated Sac g 1 by the IUIS. Oyster extracts showed highest IgE cross‐reactivity with other molluscs, while mussel cross‐reactivity was weakest. Inhibition immunoblotting demonstrated high cross‐reactivity between tropomyosins of mollusc and crustacean species.3 Conclusion

Due to the widespread use of wood-plastic composites (WPCs), high-density polyethylene-wood flour composites (HDPE/WF) were studied in order to determine their stability in different application conditions. UV degradation and periodic absorption/desorption of moisture cause damaging changes to material during WPCs’ exterior application, so it is necessary to ensure WPCs’ durability against atmospheric influences. Samples were characterized by FTIR spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) in order to study the degradation after simulated weathering. The degree of water absorption was also determined. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) were used for the determination of composites’ thermal properties. Results show that the stability of the HDPE/WF composites to UV treatment highly depends on stabilizer content and its dispersion in the polymer matrix. Incompatibility of HDPE and wood particles is a major problem that should be solved to achieve good durability and satisfying properties in use. 相似文献

This paper presents a methodology to apply speech technology for compensating sensory, motor, cognitive and affective usage
difficulties. It distinguishes (1) an analysis of accessibility and technological issues for the identification of context-dependent
user needs and corresponding opportunities to include speech in multimodal user interfaces, and (2) an iterative generate-and-test
process to refine the interface prototype and its design rationale. Best practices show that such inclusion of speech technology,
although still imperfect in itself, can enhance both the functional and affective information and communication technology-experiences
of specific user groups, such as persons with reading difficulties, hearing-impaired, intellectually disabled, children and
older adults.

The present investigation was carried out to study the effect of 4.8, 9.2, 15.3 and 21.2 kGy of electron beam (EB)-irradiation on major storage proteins viz. glycinin (11S) and β-conglycinin (7S), in vitro protein digestibility (IVPD), and trypsin inhibitor (TI) content in seeds of three soybean genotypes. Densitometry of SDS-PAGE protein profile revealed significant (P < 0.05) reduction in α’, α and β subunits of 7S fraction at all doses. This reduction was higher (P < 0.05) than the decline observed in acidic and basic subunit of 11S fraction. Basic subunit registered significant (P < 0.05) increase at specific doses in two genotypes. All the doses induced significant (P < 0.05) increase in IVPD, and the increase due to 9.2, 15.3 and 21.2 kGy was higher (P < 0.05) compared to 4.8 kGy dose. The impact on TI content was genotype-dependent. The study showed a higher (P < 0.05) decline in the concentration of 7S fraction compared to 11S fraction and improvement in IVPD of soybean seeds due to exposure to EB-irradiation, which may influence the functional and nutritional value of soy products processed from them. 相似文献

Surface properties of blends prepared of styrene-acrylonitrile and ethylene-propylene-diene changing the homopolymer proportions and compatibilized by high impact polystyrene have been studied by contact angle measurement. The surface free energy of interphase of homopolymers pairs, work of adhesion, and wetting coefficient were calculated using Wu’s geometric mean method and the total surface free energy and acid–base components of the blends by using van Oss, Good and Chaudhury method. Blends were also characterized by dynamic mechanical analysis and by scanning electron microscopy. The miscibility of studied blends was estimated through changes of surface free energy, energy of interface and through the shifts of glass transition temperature and changes in morphology. From the results, it can be seen that added compatibilizer reduces the interface energy and provides more homogenous system by interfacial segregation and rearrangements of molecules at the blend surface. The results of morphological observations reveal that the addition of a small percentage of compatibilizer decreases the domain size of the dispersed phase and enhances the compatibility of the blends. 相似文献

Hydratases provide access to secondary and tertiary alcohols by regio‐ and/or stereospecifically adding water to carbon‐carbon double bonds. Thereby, hydroxy groups are introduced without the need for costly cofactor recycling, and that makes this approach highly interesting on an industrial scale. Here we present the first crystal structure of a recombinant oleate hydratase originating from Elizabethkingia meningoseptica in the presence of flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD). A structure‐based mutagenesis study targeting active site residues identified E122 and Y241 as crucial for the activation of a water molecule and for protonation of the double bond, respectively. Moreover, we also observed that two‐electron reduction of FAD results in a sevenfold increase in the substrate hydration rate. We propose the first reaction mechanism for this enzyme class that explains the requirement for the flavin cofactor and the involvement of conserved amino acid residues in this regio‐ and stereoselective hydration. 相似文献

The possibility of using the oil-point and compression tests for evaluation of dried rapeseeds processability was examined. Seeds of initial moisture 10, 14, 18 and 22% (w/w) were dried at 60, 80, 100 and 120°C to a final moisture of 6·5% (w/w). The values of pressure ( P 0 ), work ( L 0 ) and strain (ε0) determined by the oil-point test, and pressure at strain ε=0·45 mm mm−1 ( Pε ) and degree of elasticity ( D ) determined by the compression test for bulk dried seeds differed markedly from those found for non-dried seeds. The P 0 , L 0 and Pε values were strongly correlated with the initial moisture of rapeseeds and drying temperature. All the strain values (ε0) were lower than those for non-dried seeds, and their changes depended solely on the initial moisture of seeds. Changes in the degree of elasticity were irregular and did not reach the value characteristic for overdried seeds, ie 100%. High correlation of the agglomeration test data (Δ1–3 values) with those of the P 0 , L 0 and Pε made it possible to develop appropriate equations that proved the usefulness of the variables for determining the dried rapeseed processability. 相似文献
