Investigated circumstances necessitating internal counselor reassignments and classified procedures used to conduct reassignments at 122 college and university counseling centers that responded to a survey of reassignment practices. Most frequently reported reasons for reassignments were completion of practica and internships, provision of alternate services, counselor–client incompatability, and insufficient therapeutic progress. Reassignment practices were grouped using block cluster analysis. Four blocks of practices were obtained that varied on level of client participation in selecting new counselors, as well as on amount and types of client preparation. Implications for development of reassignment policies and the effects of reassignment procedures in subsequent therapeutic progress are discussed. Two structure conditions (behavioral and cognitive-behavioral), alone and in combination with a structured discussion of anticipated undesired outcomes of communicating corrective feedback, were compared in terms of their effects on high- and low-risk takers' corrective feedback production and attitudes toward 4-session counseling groups. Low- and high-risk takers who received cognitive and behavioral structure and participated in the discussion activity during Session 1 communicated the higher proportions of corrective feedback during Session 4. The cognitive-behavioral structure and discussion activity treatments enhanced low-risk takers' ratings of attraction to their groups and attraction to feedback after the conclusion of Session 4. Reviews the book, Female authority: Empowering women through psychotherapy by Polly Young-Eisendrath and Florence Wiedemann (see record 1987-97756-000). Young-Eisendrath and Weidemann have presented a fascinating conceptualization of the psychological development of women in this society. Jungian psychology, Greek and Roman mythology, and a feminist social perspective serve as the basis upon which the authors build. This book is not written for the lay public or beginners in the field of psychology. The concepts are quite complex. The authors draw on material from a wide variety of resources and tie it together expertly. However, they do not explain each reference in detail. An unschooled reader would be likely to lose too much of the overall idea while studying the many details. For those with a basic body of knowledge of psychology and an interest in personality development, the reviewer strongly recommends this book. Ionic substances with melting points at or close to room temperature are referred to as ionic liquids. Interest in ionic liquids for their potential in different chemical processes is increasing, because they are environmentally benign and are good solvents for a wide range of both organic and inorganic materials. In this study, a capillary electrophoretic method for resolving phenolic compounds found in grape seed extracts is reported. The method, in which 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium-based ionic liquids are used as the running electrolytes, is simple and reproducible. The separation mechanism seems to involve association between the imidazolium cations and the polyphenols. The role of the alkyl substituents on the imidazolium cations was investigated and will be discussed.  相似文献

During the summer of 1973 the rain reflectivity environment in three-dimensional space was routinely recorded on digital tape at Wallops Island, Va. A mode of operation consisted of sampling periodically60degazimuth intervals over regions in which the rain activities were most intense and widespread. A series of plan-position indicator (PPI) sweeps over these intervals were implemented at a sequence of elevation angles starting from0.5degup io an angle above which the reflectivity values were below a designated threshold level. Approximately 500 such raster scans were acquired in which each scan was obtained in less than 4 min and covered a range interval of 10 to 140 km. Using the above data base, reflectivity profiles along representative earth-satellite paths were determined from which attenuation and space diversity statistics were calculated at the frequencies of 13 and 18 GHz. Specifically, the formk = aZ^{b}was used to deduce the total path attenuation, wherekis the attenuation coefficient (dB/km), andZis the reflectivity factor (mm6/m3). The constantsaandbwere calculated using the raindrop distribution for thunderstorm activity as proposed by Joss. Probabilities that the attenuations exceed given fade depths, diversity gain as a function of fade depths, and diversity gain as a function of site separation distances are characterized and compared at the various frequencies. For the space diversity mode, a site spacing of 15 km is shown to give rise to a near optimum condition for the diversity gain. Furthermore, the diversity gain has been demonstrated to be minimally influenced by the transmitter frequency.  相似文献

This article makes both conceptual and empirical arguments for why composition scholars and teachers ought to take notice of how video games are designed and developed in such a way as to make them so compelling. Thinking about games’ design principles as an analogy for composition curricula, I argue that video game designers and developers discuss and approach their design processes in many of the same ways writing teachers do. Data presented are taken from several years’ worth of ethnographic interviews, observations, and artifact analyses from within the game design and development community. This paper demonstrates how one of the designers from this ongoing study builds on his knowledge of games as distinctly interactive meaning-making spaces, noting that this approach to game design fits well with a re-thinking of the task of designing writing and learning spaces.  相似文献

Interest in the biocide cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) has resurged based on new studies showing its effectiveness against a wide variety of pathogens. Hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA)‐based hydrogels have been developed for the controlled release of CPC. Initial burst release of the biocide can be controlled and sustained release can be achieved for more than two weeks. The burst and sustained release can be adjusted by varying the amount of anionic monomer (AMPSA), crosslink content (DEGDMA), release media, hydrogel surface area, and CPC loading. After removing the CPC‐loaded hydrogel from solution and drying, the release of CPC can also be reactivated. Very interesting swelling behavior was observed for CPC‐loaded hydrogels due to the electrostatic and hydrophobic interactions between the polymer hydrogel and CPC. In addition, HEMA‐based hydrogels can be used to recover or absorb CPC from aqueous solutions. By increasing the amount of AMPSA in the HEMA‐based hydrogel, more CPC can be absorbed from solution. P. Moxnes's (see record 1999-13879-001) model of deep and transformational group roles provides an interesting psychoanalytic perspective on group interactions. This commentary examines and questions Moxnes's assertions on the nature of dichotomous thinking as a normative cognitive style in group interactions, the lawfulness of role dualities, and the necessity of identifying roles as polarized "personas" in order to understand and facilitate effective group development.
