Flow in the initial segment of a tube with a sharp leading edge

Visualization is used to study the three-dimensional structure of detached flow in the initial segment of a circular straight tube with a sharp 90°-angle leading edge. Modes of gasless combustion and macrostructure of combustion Front (for the Ti-Si system as an example)

Gasless combustion of Ti+Si mixtures (taken as an example) was investigated by high-speed video recording followed by computer-assisted processing of stored still frames. The three-dimensional shape of the combustion front was reconstructed, and explanations were proposed for the combustion front propagation modes along the surface of cylindrical samples. The reconstructed front configuration was found to be nearly paraboloidal. The modes of unsteady combustion in T-rich and Si-rich mixtures turned out to be strongly different. Development and application of automatic frequency and power control systems for large power units

We describe the results of work carried out at ZAO Interavtomatika on the development and putting into use of a system for automatically controlling the frequency and power output of large power units involving the retrofitting of the turbine’s hydraulic automatic control system. Certificates affirming conformity to the Standard of the System Operator — Centralized Dispatching Administration (SO-CDA) have been received for eight power units as an outcome of these efforts.
