Understanding and managing groundwater resources require the integration of a large amount of high-quality data from a variety of sources. Due to the limitations in accessing information related to groundwater and subsurface conditions, the gathering of available existing information is of crucial importance when conducting a successful hydrogeological study. Here, we present an approach for the development of an exhaustive and comprehensive groundwater database through (1) the gathering of relevant sources of information relating to groundwater, and (2) the application of a quality control process in order to screen the data for accuracy and quality. This hydrogeological database is then implemented within a GIS (geographic information system) framework coupled to a Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) as a personal geodatabase (ESRI format) GIS technology. Once established, the spatial database allows a user to request the relevant data required for a specific hydrogeological study. In addition, stratigraphic data stored within the spatial database may be utilized for constructing 3D subsurface hydrostructural models. In order to achieve this objective, the software Arc Hydro Groundwater combined with the ArcGIS spatial database is shown to be appropriate for the 3D structural representation of aquifers (groundwater reservoirs). The innovative contribution of this approach in building 3D hydrostructural subsurface models from a spatial database resides in simplifying the required step-by-step processes by considering a unified compatible combination of “RDBMS-ArcGIS-Arc Hydro Groundwater” technologies. The proposed methodology is illustrated using data from an ongoing project aimed at developing an inventory of the groundwater resources of the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region, Quebec (Canada).  相似文献

Among all the existing biometric modalities, authentication systems based on keystroke dynamics present interesting advantages. These solutions are well accepted by users and cheap as no additional sensor is required for authenticating the user before accessing to an application. In the last thirty years, many researchers have proposed, different algorithms aimed at increasing the performance of this approach. Their main drawback lies on the large number of data required for the enrollment step. As a consequence, the verification system is barely usable, because the enrollment is too restrictive. In this work, we propose a new method based on the Support Vector Machine (SVM) learning satisfying industrial conditions (i.e., few samples per user are needed during the enrollment phase to create its template). In this method, users are authenticated through the keystroke dynamics of a shared secret (chosen by the system administrator). We use the GREYC keystroke database that is composed of a large number of users (100) for validation purposes. We compared the proposed method with six methods from the literature (selected based on their ability to work with few enrollment samples). Experimental results show that, even though the computation time to build the template can be longer with our method (54 s against 3 s for most of the others), its performance outperforms the other methods in an industrial context (Equal Error Rate of 15.28% against 16.79% and 17.02% for the two best methods of the state-of-the-art, on our dataset and five samples to create the template, with a better computation time than the second best method).  相似文献

The synthesis of undecylenic acid partial esters can be performed at mild temperature with a classical esterification reaction catalyzed by dodecylbenzene sulfonic acid (DBSA). A semi-empirical molecular modeling on the different reaction intermediates indicates that DBSA can strongly decrease their heats of formation through hydrogen bonding. Diester formation seems to be thermodynamically favored with a selectivity for alpha, alpha, or alpha, beta forms that depend on the geometry of the catalyst-intermediate configuration. Triesters are not favored but a high selectivity for monoesters requires a kinetic control. Experimental approach, considering different DBSA concentrations and temperature partially confirms the theoretical predictions but surfactant properties of DBSA and monoesters may induce nonpredicted geometries. Global apparent activation energies are calculated, corresponding to the formation and hydrolysis of mono and diesters. If water trapping allows the decrease of hydrolysis reaction constants, the presence of water and subsequent phase separation may explain differences between theoretical and experimental results and could help increasing monoester selectivity.  相似文献

Chondrosarcomas are malignant bone tumors. Their abundant cartilage-like extracellular matrix and their hypoxic microenvironment contribute to their resistance to chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and no effective therapy is currently available. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) may be an interesting alternative in the development of therapeutic options. Here, for the first time in chondrosarcoma cells, we carried out high-throughput functional screening using impedancemetry, and identified five miRNAs with potential antiproliferative or chemosensitive effects on SW1353 chondrosarcoma cells. The cytotoxic effects of miR-342-5p and miR-491-5p were confirmed on three chondrosarcoma cell lines, using functional validation under normoxia and hypoxia. Both miRNAs induced apoptosis and miR-342-5p also induced autophagy. Western blots and luciferase reporter assays identified for the first time Bcl-2 as a direct target of miR-342-5p, and also Bcl-xL as a direct target of both miR-342-5p and miR-491-5p in chondrosarcoma cells. MiR-491-5p also inhibited EGFR expression. Finally, only miR-342-5p induced cell death on a relevant 3D chondrosarcoma organoid model under hypoxia that mimics the in vivo microenvironment. Altogether, our results revealed the tumor suppressive activity of miR-342-5p, and to a lesser extent of miR-491-5p, on chondrosarcoma lines. Through this study, we also confirmed the potential of Bcl-2 family members as therapeutic targets in chondrosarcomas.  相似文献

In this work the microwave sintering (MW) of pure submicron rutile TiO2 powder has been conducted in complete electric field using a single mode cavity of 2.45 GHz and without any susceptor. The sintering conditions were varied and similar sintering cycles were also done using a conventional furnace (CV), in carefully measuring the temperature in both processes. The dielectric properties, from kHz to GHz were determined and a comparison analysis was made between microwaved and conventional sintered specimens. It is shown that microwave sintering allows to obtain dense material (>95%) in a very short time (10–15 min) at a sintering temperature ranging from 1000 °C to 1300 °C. Some samples are fully dense (>99% theoretical density) after being microwave heated for ~10 min at ~1300 °C. Using the microwave heating, the processing temperature to get high dense material (i.e. >94%) is lowered by ~150–175 °C compared to conventionally sintered samples. It is also shown that an annealing in air at ~800 °C for ~4 h, leads to very low loss TiO2 ceramic in the entire frequency range investigated. Owing to the lowest sintering temperature provided by microwaves, the low frequency dielectric losses are smaller for MW samples than for CV sintered samples. Among the highest reported microwave Q factors (~7350) have been measured on pure TiO2 samples exhibiting the largest grain size (~1.5 μm) and density (>96%).  相似文献

The PPR78 approach is a group contribution‐based thermodynamic model which combines at constant packing fraction the Peng–Robinson equation of state and a Van Laar‐type gE model. This article demonstrates that, using classical mixing rules (linear on b and quadratic on a), the PPR78 model may also be seen as a group contribution method for the estimation of the temperature‐dependent kij of the widely used PR EoS. Our model is endowed of 15 groups and it is possible to predict the kij for any mixture containing alkanes, aromatics, naphthenes, CO2, N2, H2S, and mercaptans. This study exhibits the capability of this approach to predict the phase behavior of synthetic petroleum fluids containing components of different volatilities. The many comparisons between calculated and experimental data on natural gases, crude oils, and gas condensates allow concluding that the PPR78 approach is a successful model for phase equilibria calculations of this kind of mixtures. © 2010 American Institute of Chemical Engineers AIChE J, 2010  相似文献

A study of the densification behavior and grain growth mechanisms of ZnO-based varistors composed of 98 mol.% ZnO–2 mol.% (Bi2O3, Sb2O3, Co3O4, MnO2) has been carried out. The pressed samples were sintered in microwave electric (E) and magnetic (H) fields using a single-mode cavity of 2.45 GHz. The effect of the sintering temperature (900–1200 °C), holding time (5–120 min) and sintering mode (E, H) on the microstructure and electrical properties of the sintered varistor samples were investigated. The grain growth kinetics was studied using the simplified phenomenological equation Gn = kte(?Q/RT). The grain growth exponent (n) and apparent activation energy (Q) values were estimated for both electric and magnetic heating modes and were found to be n = 3.06–3.27, Q = 206–214 kJ mol?1, respectively. The lower value of n estimated in the E field was attributed to a volume diffusion mechanism, whereas the higher n value in the H field sintering was correlated mainly to a combined effect of volume and surface diffusion processes. Samples sintered in the H and E fields showed high final densities. Moreover, the ones sintered in the H field presented slightly higher density values and bigger grains for all sintering temperatures than E field heated ones. The optimal sintering conditions were achieved at 1100 °C for a 5 min soaking time for both H and E field processed samples, where respectively densities of 99.2 ± 0.5% theoretical density (TD) and 98.3 ± 0.5% TD along with grain size values of G = 7.2 ± 0.36 μm and G = 6.6 ± 0.33 μm were obtained. Regarding the electrical properties, breakdown voltage values as high as 500–570 V mm?1 were obtained, together with high non-linear coefficients α = 29–39 and low leakage currents (Jl  5 × 10?3 mA cm?2), respectively, for E and H field sintered varistor samples. Moreover, samples sintered in an H field systematically exhibited higher breakdown voltage values compared to the ones sintered in the E field. This was attributed to an improved coupling between the H field and the present dopants within the ZnO matrix, this latter being mostly semiconductive, thus leading to an enhanced reactivity and improved properties of the electrostatic barrier.  相似文献

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common form of cardiac arrhythmia seen in clinical practice. While some clinical parameters may predict the transition from paroxysmal to persistent AF, the molecular mechanisms behind the AF perpetuation are poorly understood. Thus, oxidative stress, calcium overload and inflammation, among others, are believed to be involved in AF-induced atrial remodelling. Interestingly, adenosine and its receptors have also been related to AF development and perpetuation. Here, we investigated the expression of adenosine A2A receptor (A2AR) both in right atrium biopsies and peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from non-dilated sinus rhythm (ndSR), dilated sinus rhythm (dSR) and AF patients. In addition, plasma adenosine content and adenosine deaminase (ADA) activity in these subjects were also determined. Our results revealed increased A2AR expression in the right atrium from AF patients, as previously described. Interestingly, increased levels of adenosine content and reduced ADA activity in plasma from AF patients were detected. An increase was observed when A2AR expression was assessed in PBMCs from AF subjects. Importantly, a positive correlation (p = 0.001) between A2AR expression in the right atrium and PBMCs was observed. Overall, these results highlight the importance of the A2AR in AF and suggest that the evaluation of this receptor in PBMCs may be potentially be useful in monitoring disease severity and the efficacy of pharmacological treatments in AF patients.  相似文献

A charge-barrier capacitive deionisation system was tested for electrochemical removal of Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), nitrates and ammonium ions. Several experiments were conducted with inorganic species spiked in tap water. The system efficiency was first evaluated using experimental statistical designs with different concentrations of NaCl (150 to 3000 mg/L). The raw water conductivity and the targeted residual TDS in treated water were the key process variables. Power consumption increased linearly as the difference between these two values increased. Water recovery rate and electrical consumption, which varied respectively from 63.9% to 95.8% and from 0.45 to 5.35 kWh/m3, were adequately described by a simple linear regression model (R2: 0.98 and 0.99, respectively). Additional experiments performed on nitrates (100 mg N-NO3/L) and ammonium ions (1000 mg N-NH4/L) showed high levels of removal. A rise in TDS concentration led to a decrease in their removal due to the competition for electrodes carbon adsorption sites. It was concluded from this study that this technology offers an innovative alternative for demineralising water. However, assays should be conducted in natural waters and in a steady-state manner to confirm data obtained and get long-term performance.  相似文献
