Micro- and nanocrystalline diamond (MCD and NCD) films are deposited on 4-inch silicon substrates by a large-area multi-wafer-scale hot filament chemical vapor deposition (HFCVD) system. The films are in-situ doped by boron. The chemical and crystalline structures are studied by electron probe microanalysis (EPMA), Raman spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The microcrystalline films have a preferred (111) texture, while the nanocrystalline films exhibit (220) texture. Strain gauges and cantilever beam arrays are micro-fabricated by surface micro-machining techniques to characterize the residual strain and strain gradient of the diamond films. Both micro- and nanocrystalline films have small compressive strains of − 0.052% and − 0.040% respectively, with the strain gradient of about 10 5 μm 1. These values are low enough to enable the realization of many MEMS devices.  相似文献

V-doped titania layers with a novel morphology and a rough surface were grown the via micro arc oxidation process in the electrolytes consisting of sodium vanadate under various voltages. Morphological investigations, performed by SEM, revealed that the layers had a sheet-like structure whose average thickness was less than 100 nm depending on the applied voltage. Our XRD and XPS results showed that the layers consisted of anatase, rutile, and vanadia phases with a varying fraction depending on the voltage. Hydrophilicity of the layers was also studied by measuring the water contact angle on their surfaces under ultraviolet and visible illuminations. The layer synthesized under the voltage of 450 V exhibited the highest hydrophilicity.  相似文献

This research aimed to investigate the possibility of enhancement of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) dyeability using nanotechnology. Different kinds of disperse, acidic, and chromic dyes were used for dyeing of produced PET/silver nanocomposite fine multifilament yarns produced at the take up speeds of 3000 m min−1 and their prepared fabrics. Dyeability improved by using acidic dyes. However, the more promotion effect was achieved by chromic dyes. No effect on absorption of disperse dyes revealed that no physical effect can be considered for dye absorption. The electrostatic interaction between silver and acidic dye molecules and forming the coordinative bonds with chromic dye molecules on nanocomposite yarns and fabrics were concluded and thoroughly discussed. Applying chromic dye with the more potential of creating coordinative bonds intensified the improvement of dyeability. Optimized silver ratio for the dyeability enhancement was affected by the mechanisms of dye absorptions discussed and proven by investigating dye concentrations in the effluent baths after the dyeing processes. It has been found that the steric hindrance is the key factor for absorption of chromic dyes; however, it is different in the case of acidic dyes, well discussed according to the dye absorptions mechanisms. The results can be also considered as evidence to prove forming the coordinative bonds with chromic dye molecules. The structural and electronic properties of C and BN nanotubes based on periodic fullerenes were studied using density functional theory. It was shown that these tubular structures are stable. The electronic band structures and density of states indicated that the C nanotubes based on periodic fullerenes are metals. The energy band gap was appeared by substitution of C atoms with B and N atoms. The BN nanotubes based on periodic fullerenes show semiconducting properties. Our results suggest that the nanotubes based on periodic fullerenes can be used to design of nanoelectronic devices.  相似文献

Food and beverages contain protein glycation adducts--both early-stage adducts and advanced glycation endproducts. We determined the concentrations of glycation adducts in selected food and beverages by liquid chromatography with triple quadrupole mass spectrometric detection. Cola drink contained low concentrations of glycation free adducts, whereas pasteurised and sterilised milk were rich sources of heat-stable glycation adduct residues--Nepsilon-carboxymethyl-lysine and Nepsilon-carboxyethyl-lysine. Laboratory rodent food was a rich source of advanced glycation endproducts. Measurement of glycation adducts in 24 h urine samples of normal and diabetic rats indicated that < 10% of glycation adduct residue consumption was excreted. Induction of diabetes by streptozotocin led to a 2-fold increase in urinary excretion of Nepsilon-carboxymethyl-lysine and a 27-fold increase in urinary excretion of methylglyoxal-derived hydroimidazolone Ndelta-(5-hydro-5-methyl-4-imidazolon-2-yl)-ornithine - the latter was decreased by high-dose thiamine therapy that also prevented the development of nephropathy. We conclude that cola drinks are a poor source of glycation adduct whereas thermally processed milk is rich in glycation adducts. Dietary glycation adducts residues probably have low bioavailability. Experimental diabetes is associated with a marked increase in exposure to endogenous formation of methylglyoxal-derived hydroimidazolone which is linked to the development of diabetic nephropathy.  相似文献

Reviews evolutionary models of corporate globalization, distinguishing between international and global firms. To define global leadership, a distinction is made between the content of the activities of leaders in corporations within industries, and the style in which they conduct their affairs. The role of perception in cross-cultural interaction and leadership style is demonstrated by reviewing cross-national research. Alternatives to corporate global leadership are also suggested. Two models of global leadership training designed by multinational corporations are presented. Recommendations for preparing corporate leadership for global business are offered. The authors investigated the role of communication medium on the relationship between team member perceptions and decision success. Seventy-three 3-person groups participated in a consensus intellective task either face-to-face (FTF) or via computer-mediated communication (CMC). The participants also assessed their group's decision success and team member competencies. CMC group members' success perceptions significantly predicted their group's performance, but FTF group members' perceptions did not. Furthermore, only CMC group members' judgments regarding their group's problem-solving ability significantly predicted their decision success. Last, judgments of decision success mediated the relationship between perceptions of members' problem-solving ability and decision success only for CMC group members. Implications are discussed. A family of poly(caprolactone) (PCL)-based oligomeric additives was evaluated as plasticizers for poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC). We found that the entire family of additives, which consist of a PCL core, diester linker, and alkyl chain cap, were effective plasticizers that improve migration resistance. The elongation at break and tensile strength of the blends made with the PCL-based additives were comparable to blends prepared with diisononyl phthalate (DINP), a plasticizer typically used industrially, and diheptyl succinate (DHPS), an alternative biodegradable plasticizer. Increasing concentration was found to decrease glass transition temperature (Tg) and increase elongation at break, confirming their role as functional plasticizers. We found that all of the PCL-based plasticizers exhibited significantly reduced leaching into hexanes compared to DINP and DHPS. The PCL-based plasticizers with shorter carbon chain lengths reduced leaching more than those with longer carbon chain lengths.  相似文献

This work presents the experimental and computational study of droplet generation for hydrogel prepolymer solution in oil using a flow‐focusing device. Effects of different parameters on hydrogel droplet generation and droplet sizes in a flow‐focusing device were investigated experimentally and computationally. First, three dimensional (3D) computational simulations were conducted to describe the physics of droplet formation in each regime and mechanism of three different regimes: squeezing, dripping, and jetting regime of hydrogel were investigated. Subsequently, the effects of viscosity, inertia force, and surface tension force on droplet generation, and droplet size were studied through these experiments. The experiments were carried out using different concentration of gelatin methacrylate (GelMA) hydrogel (5 wt % and 8 wt %) as the dispersed phase and two different continuous phase liquids (light mineral oil and hexadecane) with various concentrations of surfactant (0 wt %, 3 wt %, and 20 wt %). All experimental data was summarized by capillary number of dispersed phases and the continuous phases to characterize the different regimes of droplet generation and to predict the transition of dripping to a jetting regime for GelMA solution in flow‐focusing devices. It is shown that the transition of dripping to a jetting regime for GelMA happens at lower capillary numbers compared to aqueous solutions. Moreover, by increasing the viscous force of continuous phase or decreasing the interfacial force, the size of GelMA droplets was decreased. By controlling these parameters, the droplet sizes can be controlled between 30 μm and 200 μm, which are very suitable for cell encapsulation. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Appl. Polym.
