Analytical models of the pin diode in a small‐current operation are not known yet. This article presents a simple analytical model of the pin diode operation with its confirmation by a numerical simulation. At the onset, carrier recombinations are not included for the sake of simplicity. The exact JF?VF characteristic could have been induced only by accounting for the Boltzmann distribution of each carrier across the junctions and the diffusion current of each minority carrier in a p‐anode or n‐cathode. Based on this new model, the modifications of hole–electron densities product (nenh) across junctions, a rough estimation of the large operational current, its carrier distributions, and the effect of carrier recombination on the carrier distribution are plainly estimated and are also compared with the simulation results. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Accumulating evidence has demonstrated that the pathogenesis of epilepsy is linked to neuroinflammation and cerebrovascular dysfunction. Peripheral immune cell invasion into the brain, along with these responses, is implicitly involved in epilepsy. This review explored the current literature on the association between the peripheral and central nervous systems in the pathogenesis of epilepsy, and highlights novel research directions for therapeutic interventions targeting these reactions. Previous experimental and human studies have demonstrated the activation of the innate and adaptive immune responses in the brain. The time required for monocytes (responsible for innate immunity) and T cells (involved in acquired immunity) to invade the central nervous system after a seizure varies. Moreover, the time between the leakage associated with blood–brain barrier (BBB) failure and the infiltration of these cells varies. This suggests that cell infiltration is not merely a secondary disruptive event associated with BBB failure, but also a non-disruptive event facilitated by various mediators produced by the neurovascular unit consisting of neurons, perivascular astrocytes, microglia, pericytes, and endothelial cells. Moreover, genetic manipulation has enabled the differentiation between peripheral monocytes and resident microglia, which was previously considered difficult. Thus, the evidence suggests that peripheral monocytes may contribute to the pathogenesis of seizures.  相似文献

We evaluated the abscopal effect of re-implantation of liquid nitrogen-treated tumor-bearing bone grafts and the synergistic effect of anti-PD-1 (programmed death-1) therapy using a bone metastasis model, created by injecting MMT-060562 cells into the bilateral tibiae of 6–8-week-old female C3H mice. After 2 weeks, the lateral tumors were treated by excision, cryotreatment using liquid nitrogen, excision with anti-PD-1 treatment, and cryotreatment with anti-PD-1 treatment. Anti-mouse PD-1 4H2 was injected on days 1, 6, 12, and 18 post-treatment. The mice were euthanized after 3 weeks; the abscopal effect was evaluated by focusing on growth inhibition of the abscopal tumor. The re-implantation of frozen autografts significantly inhibited the growth of the remaining abscopal tumors. However, a more potent abscopal effect was observed in the anti-PD-1 antibody group. The number of CD8+ T cells infiltrating the abscopal tumor and tumor-specific interferon-γ (IFN-γ)-producing spleen cells increased in the liquid nitrogen-treated group compared with those in the excision group, with no significant difference. The number was significantly higher in the anti-PD-1 antibody-treated group than in the non-treated group. Overall, re-implantation of tumor-bearing frozen autograft has an abscopal effect on abscopal tumor growth, although re-implantation of liquid nitrogen-treated bone grafts did not induce a strong T-cell response or tumor-suppressive effect.  相似文献

d -Amino acid containing peptides are promising as drug lead compounds because of their expected higher stability in vivo. A heterochiral random peptide library called the one-bead–2n-peptide (OB2nP) library, which can display 2n peptide diastereomers per bead, has been developed. Through screening of the OB2nP library and subsequent binding assay among the peptide diastereomers synthesized in parallel by means of the SPOTs method, new heterochiral mimotopes for the anti-β-endorphin monoclonal antibody have been obtained. One mimotope was a new ligand for the μ-opioid receptor. The screening strategy enabled d -amino acid containing drug leads to be obtained efficiently by expanding searchable chemical space without increasing the experimental scale.  相似文献

γ‐Tocopherol is one of the main constituents in vegetable oils and acts as an antioxidant by trapping lipid‐peroxyl radicals. This study reports reaction products of γ‐tocopherol with lipid‐peroxyl radicals formed by iron‐catalyzed decomposition of methyl linoleate hydroperoxides (MeLOOH) in toluene and methanol solutions. The products in toluene solution were tocored, methyl (8a‐dioxy‐γ‐tocopherone)‐epoxyoctadecenoates (γT‐OO‐epoxyMeL), methyl (8a‐dioxy‐γ‐tocopherone)‐octadecadienoates (γT‐OO‐MeL), γ‐tocopherol biphenyl dimer (γTBD), γ‐tocopherol diphenylether dimer (γTED), and adducts of γ‐tocopherol dimers with the MeLOOH‐derived peroxyl radicals (γTED‐OO‐epoxyMeL, γTBD‐OO‐MeL, and γTED‐OO‐MeL). The iron‐catalyzed reaction in toluene proceeded slowly, whereas the reaction in methanol was relatively fast. The reaction products in methanol were γT‐OO‐epoxyMeL and γTED‐OO‐epoxyMeL together with tocored, γTBD, and γTED. The results indicate that the iron‐catalyzed decomposition of MeLOOH in toluene produces both epoxyperoxyl and peroxyl radicals and that the decomposition in methanol yields only the epoxyperoxyl radicals. These peroxyl radicals could react with the 8a‐carbon‐centered radical of γ‐tocopherol or its dimers.  相似文献

The virtual diving experience learning system of “Ama”, Japanese traditional female divers, has been developed to simulate how divers move in a virtual space using the diving interface and utilizing an accelerometer and a gyroscope. This interface not only detects the diving motion but also outputs the movement. Diving motion is shown in the ways of hand motion while standing. Although this makes it possible for a learner to understand the divers’ actions more clearly, this system’s difficulty is in visualizing a divers’ actions including their hands or bodies. Therefore, our study focuses on developing the operation system to reproduce actual ways of Amas’ diving with a virtual human body in a virtual space. First, the motion capture was done in an underwater condition. In the next process, the virtual human body was created. Finally, with the motion viewer, the more vivid actions of the Ama were successfully reproduced much more than in previous attempts. Using this system, the effectiveness of the Amas’ movement learning was confirmed, because a learner practices Amas’ movement.  相似文献

Several position identification methods are being used for mobile robots. Dead reckoning is a popular method but due to the error accumulation from wheel slippage, its reliability is low for measurement of long distances especially on uneven surfaces. Another popular method is the landmark method, which estimates current position relative to known landmarks, but the landmark method's limitation is that it cannot be used in an uncharted environment. Thus, this paper proposes a new method called Cooperative Positioning System (CPS) that is able to overcome these shortcomings. The main concept of CPS is to divide the robots into two groups, A and B where group A remains stationary and acts as a landmark while group B moves and then group B stops and acts as a landmark for group A. This process is repeated until the target position is reached. Compared with dead reckoning, CPS has a far lower accumulation of positioning errors, and can also work in three dimensions. Furthermore, CPS employs inherent landmarks and therefore can be used in uncharted environments unlike the landmark method. In this paper, we introduce the basic concept of CPS and its positioning principle. Next, we outline a second prototype CPS machine model (CPS-II) and discuss the method of position estimation using the variance of positioning error and weighted least squares method. Position identification experiments using the CPS-II model give a positioning accuracy of 0.12% for position and 0.32 degree for attitude after the robots traveled a distance of 21.5 m.  相似文献

Although numerous swarm robotic systems have already been developed, they have exhibited limited adaptability. This was partly because the previous researchers designed the control schemes on the basis of informational interaction, without considering the physical effects of the environment. To tackle this problem, we employ an unconventional approach: we design a control scheme for swarm robots based on their physical interaction in a hydrodynamic field, inspired by biological swarming. Through simulations using a smoothed particle hydrodynamics method, we show that the proposed control scheme allows agents to form an ordered swarm in response to their environment.  相似文献

Damage to seagrass and seaweed beds caused by the huge tsunami of the Great East Japan Earthquake on 11 March 2011 was investigated in Matsushima Bay, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan, by comparing satellite images taken before the tsunami in November 2009 and after the tsunami in May 2011. The results showed that the tsunami destroyed 220 ha of seagrass and seaweed beds, from 320 ha in 2009 to 100 ha just after the tsunami. Zostera marina beds on the sandy and muddy bottom were rather severely damaged compared with brown seaweed beds of Sargassum horneri on the rocky substrate. Substrates of the beds and directions of the tsunami seem to be responsible for the magnitude of the damage to the beds. Maps of the spatial distributions of the beds before and after the tsunami can provide information for the restoration of seagrass and seaweed beds as natural infrastructures of coastal fisheries resources.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose a novel method to achieve both dense 3D reconstruction of the scene and estimation of the camera intrinsic parameters by using coplanarities and other constraints (e.g., orthogonalities or parallelisms) derived from relations between planes in the scene and reflected curves of line lasers captured by a single camera. In our study, we categorize coplanarities in the scene into two types: implicit coplanarities, which can be observed as reflected curves of line lasers, and explicit coplanarities, which are, for example, observed as walls of a building. By using both types of coplanarities, we can construct simultaneous equations and can solve them up to four degrees of freedom. To upgrade the solution to the Euclidean space and estimate the camera intrinsic parameters, we can use metric constraints such as orthogonalities of the planes. Such metric constraints are given by, for example, observing the corners of rectangular boxes in the scene, or using special laser projecting device composed of two line lasers whose laser planes are configured to be perpendicular.  相似文献
