α-Amylase was encapsulated in several mesoporous materials (folded sheet mesoporous silica (FSM), cubic mesoporous silica
(KIT-6), and two-dimensional hexagonal mesoporous silica (SBA-15)) that differed morphologically in terms of particle shape,
pore size, and pore structure. The encapsulation capacity and thermal stability of encapsulated α-amylase were examined. The
amount of α-amylase encapsulated increased with increasing pore size in the following order: SBA-15 < KIT-6 < FSM. Nitrogen
adsorption experiments were performed before and after α-amylase encapsulation in mesoporous silicas with pore sizes larger
than the size of α-amylase, confirming that α-amylase was encapsulated in the pores. Among mesoporous silicas with similar
pore sizes, FSM was found to have the highest capacity for α-amylase encapsulation both per weight and per surface area of
silica. Furthermore, α-amylase encapsulated in FSM demonstrated high thermal stability at 90 °C relative to the thermal stability
of free α-amylase or free α-amylase encapsulated in other mesoporous silicas. Zeta potential measurements showed that the
FSM surface had an isoelectric point that was lower than that of other mesoporous silicas, and hydrophilicity measurements
showed that its surface was more hydrophilic. The surface properties of FSM contributed to the high thermal stability of the

Wastewater treatment processes are believed to be anthropogenic sources of nitrous oxide (N(2)O) and methane (CH(4)). However, few studies have examined the mechanisms and controlling factors in production of these greenhouse gases in complex bacterial systems. To elucidate production and consumption mechanisms of N(2)O and CH(4) in microbial consortia during wastewater treatment and to characterize human waste sources, we measured their concentrations and isotopomer ratios (elemental isotope ratios and site-specific N isotope ratios in asymmetric molecules of NNO) in water and gas samples collected by an advanced treatment system in Tokyo. Although the estimated emissions of N(2)O and CH(4) from the system were found to be lower than those from the typical treatment systems reported before, water in biological reaction tanks was supersaturated with both gases. The concentration of N(2)O, produced mainly by nitrifier-denitrification as indicated by isotopomer ratios, was highest in the oxic tank (ca. 4000% saturation). The dissolved CH(4) concentration was highest in in-flow water (ca. 3000% saturation). It decreased gradually during treatment. Its carbon isotope ratio indicated that the decrease resulted from bacterial CH(4) oxidation and that microbial CH(4) production can occur in anaerobic and settling tanks. 相似文献

We present a systematic study of the effects of surfactants in the separation of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) by
density gradient ultracentrifugation (DGU). Through analysis of the buoyant densities, layer positions, and optical absorbance
spectra of SWNT separation using the bile salt sodium deoxycholate (DOC) and the anionic salt sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS),
we clarify the roles and interactions of these two surfactants in yielding different DGU outcomes. The separation mechanism
described here can also help in designing new DGU experiments by qualitatively predicting outcomes of different starting recipes,
improving the efficacy of DGU and simplifying post-DGU fractionation.

In order to clarify the effect of tip clearance (TC) size on fan performance and the flow field at rotor outlet in a small
semi-open axial fan, the experimental investigation was carried out. The tip diameter of test fan rotor was 180mm and test
TC sizes were 1mm (TC=1mm) and 4mm (TC=4mm). Fan characteristics tests were carried out for two cases of TC size and three-dimensional
velocity fields at rotor outlet were measured using a single slant hot-wire probe at four flow-rate conditions. As a result,
it was found that the pressure — flow-rate characteristics curves for two cases showed almost the same tendency. However,
the ensemble averaged velocity profiles along radial measurement stations of TC=4mm largely changed compared with that of
TC=1mm in cases of small flow-rate condition. From the phase-locked averaging results, it was also found that the vortex existed
in the rotor outlet flow field of high flow-rate condition for each TC case. Compared with the vortices for TC=1mm and TC=4mm,

Antiferromagnetic spin-flop transitions in a series of λ-(BETS)2FeBrxCl4-x are observed using piezoresistive AFM microcantilever. The measurements are carried out on a tiny single crystal using a
sample rotator and the easy axis changes with increasing the bromine content x. The Néel temperature and spin-flop transition

When NG-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester (L-NAME, 0.1-10 nmol) or NG-monomethyl-L-arginine (L-NMMA, 10 nmol-1 mumol) was intradermally administered with bradykinin (BK, 3 nmol) into the instep of rat hind-paws, a dose-related suppression of BK-induced hyperalgesia, assessed by the paw-pressure test, was produced. 2. L-Arginine (1 mumol) but not D-arginine (1 mumol) reversed the suppressive effects of L-NAME (10 nmol) and L-NMMA (1 mumol) on BK-induced hyperalgesia. 3. Concomitant intradermal administration of BK (3 nmol) with haemoglobin (1 nmol) significantly suppressed BK-induced hyperalgesia in the paw-pressure test. The BK-induced hyperalgesia was abolished by concomitant intradermal administration of either a guanylate cyclase inhibitor, methylene blue (10 nmol), or LY83583 (1 nmol). In addition, KT5823 (1 nmol) or Rp-8-bromoguanosine-3':5'-cyclic monophosphothioate (Rp-8-Br-cGMPS; 1 nmol), an inhibitor of cyclic GMP-dependent protein kinase, also significantly suppressed BK-induced hyperalgesia. 4. The carrageenin-induced hyperalgesia was significantly attenuated by L-NAME in a dose-dependent manner. 5. L-Arginine (1 mumol), sodium nitroprusside (1 mumol), dibutyryl cyclic GMP (1 mumol) or 8-bromo cyclic GMP (1 mumol) all failed to produce any significant relieving effect on the nociceptive threshold of rodent hind-paws. Concomitant administrations of each agent with a sub-threshold dose (0.1 nmol) of BK induced significant hyperalgesia. 6. Rp-adenosine 3':5'-cyclic monophosphothioate (Rp-cAMPS; 1 nmol), an inhibitor of cyclic AMP-dependent protein kinase, significantly suppressed BK-induced mechanical hyperalgesia. Concomitant administration of forskolin (1 nmol) with 8-bromo cyclic GMP (100 nmol) induced significant hyperalgesia. 7. In the superfusion experiment of a blister base on the instep of rodent hind-paws, intradermally administered BK (3 nmol) significantly increased the outflow of both cyclic GMP and cyclic AMP from the blister base. Concomitant administrations of L-NAME (10 nmol) with BK significantly reduced the BK-induced outflow of cyclic GMP without affecting the cyclic AMP content. 8. These results suggest that the NO-cyclic GMP pathway is involved in the mechanism of BK-induced hyperalgesia, and an activation of both cyclic GMP-and cyclic AMP-second messenger system plays an important role in the production of peripherally induced mechanical hyperalgesia. 相似文献

Recrystallization textures in rolled copper specimens have been investigated so as to elucidate the mechanisms of cube texture formation. The specimens are single crystals with the orientations corresponding to the main components of the rolled textures, such as {112}111,{110}112, etc. and bicrystals consisting of such oriented crystals. The cube texture was not observed in any single crystal specimens, but observed in only two bicrystal specimens with {112}/111{100}001 and {110}112/{100}001 orientations. The formation of cube texture seems to require the existence of a cube oriented region in the deformed state, and the favourable oriented matrix to allow the growth of such nuclei. 相似文献
