An overview of fractal antenna engineering research   总被引:10,自引:0,他引:10  
Recent efforts by several researchers around the world to combine fractal geometry with electromagnetic theory have led to a plethora of new and innovative antenna designs. In this report, we provide a comprehensive overview of recent developments in the rapidly growing field of fractal antenna engineering. Fractal antenna engineering research has been primarily focused in two areas: the first deals with the analysis and design of fractal antenna elements, and the second concerns the application of fractal concepts to the design of antenna arrays. Fractals have no characteristic size, and are generally composed of many copies of themselves at different scales. These unique properties of fractals have been exploited in order to develop a new class of antenna-element designs that are multi-band and/or compact in size. On the other hand, fractal arrays are a subset of thinned arrays, and have been shown to possess several highly desirable properties, including multi-band performance, low sidelobe levels, and the ability to develop rapid beamforming algorithms based on the recursive nature of fractals. Fractal elements and arrays are also ideal candidates for use in reconfigurable systems. Finally, we provide a brief summary of recent work in the related area of fractal frequency-selective surfaces.  相似文献

Electric field profiles have been measured in an atmospheric pressure propane-air flame, seeded with cesium, by Rydberg state Stark spectroscopy with 780 and 380 V applied voltage between electrodes placed across the flame. The space-charge density at the flame edge has been estimated from the electric field gradient. The electrical conductivity has been calculated from the current density and the electric field measurements.  相似文献

Using the methods of recombination and gene disruption, the effects of degUS gene in Bacillus subtilis Ki-2-132 were studied. The results showed that the gene could affect all protease-producing, competence formation, cell mobility and repression effects of glucose on protease-production. This implies that it is a pleitropic gene in Bacillus subtilis Ki-2-132. The disruption of the gene caused morphological changes and repressed the expression of aprE in vectors.  相似文献

Clock distribution design for high performance microprocessors has become increasingly challenging in recent years. Design goals of state-of-the-art integrated circuits, dictate the need for clock networks with smaller skew tolerances, large sizes, and lower capacitances. In this paper we discuss some of the issues in clock network design that arise in this context. We describe the clock design methodology and techniques used in the design of clock distribution networks for PowerPC? microprocessors that aim at alleviating some of these problems.

Rare earth samarium (Sm)-doped barium zirconate titanate (Ba1?x Sm2x/3)(Zr0.3Ti0.7)O3 (x = 0.00, 0.02, 0.04, 0.06, 0.08, 0.10) ceramics were prepared using solid state reaction (SSR) route. The structural and microstructural characterizations of the materials were done by using X-ray diffraction and SEM analysis, respectively. Rietveld refinement technique employed to investigate the details of crystal structure revealed single-phase cubic perovskite structure belonging to space group Pm-3m. Microstructure of the doped ceramics were found to be porous and of irregular shape and size along with aggregative characteristic. FTIR technique was employed to study the influence of additives in ceramics compositions and to investigate the displacement of M–O bonds. Raman spectroscopic study revealed that the substitution of Ba2+ ions by Sm3+ ions shifted the Raman-active modes toward higher energy, which indicated that these materials undergo an increase in average cubicity with increase in Sm3+ ion concentration. The temperature dependence of dielectric properties was investigated in the frequency range from 1 kHz to 1 MHz. The dielectric measurement indicated a diffuse type of phase transition (DPT). The broadening in the dielectric permittivity and frequency dependence behavior with increase in frequency indicated a relaxor behavior of these materials. The relaxation strength of these materials was well adjusted by using the Vogel–Fulcher relation.  相似文献
