Nanofluids have been known as practical materials to ameliorate heat transfer within diverse industrial systems. The current work presents an empirical study on forced convection effects of Al2O3–water nanofluid within an annulus tube. A laminar flow regime has been considered to perform the experiment in high Reynolds number range using several concentrations of nanofluid. Also, the boundary conditions include a constant uniform heat flux applied on the outer shell and an adiabatic condition to the inner tube. Nanofluid particle is visualized with transmission electron microscopy to figure out the nanofluid particles. Additionally, the pressure drop is obtained by measuring the inlet and outlet pressure with respect to the ambient condition. The experimental results showed that adding nanoparticles to the base fluid will increase the heat transfer coefficient (HTC) and average Nusselt number. In addition, by increasing viscosity effects at maximum Reynolds number of 1140 and increasing nanofluid concentration from 1% to 4% (maximum performance at 4%), HTC increases by 18%. 相似文献

Poly(viny alcohol)–poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) biodegradable polymer blend was modified with aluminosilicate. Sample films containing 5, 10, 15, and 20 wt % filler were prepared by conventional solvent casting technique using glass plates as casting surfaces. The newly developed biodegradable composites are bright red, with magnetic properties due to the presence of iron compounds. Physical, chemical, and biodegradable properties of the films were studied with the conclusion that the presence of aluminosilicate affects the properties of the matrix and enhances biodegradability of the polymer composites. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The present study was undertaken to characterize the structural behavior and ultimate flexural strength of steel plate I-girders under pure flexural moment at elevated temperatures. A novel design procedure along with flexural design curves was proposed to predict the flexural behavior of the I-girders and estimate corresponding ultimate flexural strengths. The main strategy of the procedure is to find an ambient-temperature equivalent of the I-girder by quantifying and formulating the effects of elevated temperatures. The proposed procedure comprises overall and partial phases. The former phase deals with the determination of equivalent laterally unbraced length, and the latter phase addresses the equivalent web and compression flange slenderness parameters. The calibration factor was defined to adapt the design curves to the effects of high compression flange slenderness parameters and residual stress at elevated temperatures. To generate comparative results, a numerical study was conducted by analyzing 216 finite element (FE) models. Fifty-four out of 216 FE models with different cross-sectional elements were dedicated to the I-girders fail by yield or local buckling failure mode, the results of which are reported in the present paper. Data fitting analysis was carried out to capture the variation of calibration factor with respect to compression flange slenderness parameters. By calibrating the proposed design procedure, the results were converged and, therefore, good conformity was reached between the numerical and parametric results. 相似文献

The structure of the tetradentate sulphur–nitrogen chelating agent, 1,2-phenylenebis(methylene) bis(1-methylhydrazinecarbodithioate) (NSSN) has been determined by X-ray diffraction. In the solid state, the two arms of the ligand remain in E configurations about the hydrazinic C–N bonds. The ligand reacts with hydrated nickel(II) salts in a 3:2 ligand-to-metal ratio yielding dimeric triple helical complexes of general formula, [Ni2(NSSN)3]X4·nH2O (X = Cl, Br, I, NCS; n = 5, 6, 9) which contain two nickel(II) ions in distorted octahedral environments. An X-ray crystallographic structure determination of the [Ni2(NSSN)3]Cl4·9H2O complex shows that it is a metallomacrocycle in which each ligand acts as a bis-bidentate chelating agent providing NS donors of one arm to one nickel(II) ion and NS donors of the second arm to a second nickel(II) ion. Each nickel(II) ion adopts a distorted octahedral geometry with a NiN3S3 coordination core as shown by their common electronic spectra. 相似文献

ABSTRACT A simple, inexpensive, yet flexible digital sequencer is described for the programming of electrically heated nonflame atomizers. The system provides four distinct periods of operation and a three step analog output for controlling the atomizer heating during desolvation, ashing and atomization. The sequencer is sufficiently versatile to allow it to be used with any nonflame atomizer with only minor modifications. Performance tests of the sequencer with the graphite braid nonflame atomizer are presented and illustrate that results comparable to those obtained with a laboratory minicomputer can be readily achieved. 相似文献
